In case anyone was confused, you don't need to actively vent to dissipate hard flux, you just need to turn your shields off. Just watched the colony episode and the ones after that and now that I found them super cool I'm going back and watching the start. This is a very interesting game and I want to see how it began.
Starsector can be a tad unforgiving. First game I started, went to fight one of the first tutorial battles. The AI just kited me until my combat readiness dropped to nothing and I just watched as my vessels started malfunctioning and uncontrollably spin with their damaged thrusters.
Yeah combat readiness taking a hit because you entered a battle makes sense - that REPRESENTS that fighting an entire battle is physically and mentally taxing for the crew. It ONLY works when there is a finite amount that it drops though, which is not the case. Combat readiness continuing to drop steadily(all the way to 0) over the course of a battle REPRESENTS a BROKEN and FOOLISH game mechanic. After i got the salvaged ships She says in the quest that we can use Ancyra station to repair and store our ships which needs repair. But i didnt find that?? Other then the option to repair… from the answer selection.
Oh yes, the game is so very complex and hard to learn. Ships can be damaged in two different ways, just needing regular repairs that you do with supplies, or having D-mods ( defective parts ) that need to be fixed at a shipyard (FOR MASSIVE COST)
15:40 No its not weird! To explain Combat Readyness better: Think of it how long the crew on board of your ships can stay focused during an engagement. A battle is a very stressful occurence. our body has a limit how long it can be stressed until we lose focus and start making mistakes in the heat of the action. this phase is the mentioned peak CR timer. that timer is individual to each ship in the engagement. through skills and upgrades that can be influenced to a degree. After that timer runs out, people will start to make mistakes more and more as the CR degrades. Like a misfire of a gun, a loader of ammo fumbles and drops the round, a wrong button pushed that vents someone out of an airlock... i bet you can get imaginative and creative what can go wrong during a battle when peoples concentration and focus starts to diminish and they get fatigued. thats why players send in their ships in waves and cycle the first waves ships out for fresh ships when they run out of peak CR. CR is a huge factor in RL too. Thats why the navy performs so many combat drills. not only to get them ready for combat faster, but also to increase the time they can stay focused under the stress. I am actually very impressed that a game has a mechanic to replicate the effect of stress on ships.
@@hamnporkgamer not only that. i just imagine right now the scenario of a complete AI ship in the cruiser or battleship size. even if you construct Nanobots and bigger Bots for the after battle repairs, they might get destroyed or sucked out of the ship in enough numbers that they cant get the ship back into an operational state an organic crew could manage. so an aotomated ship most likely needs to get back to the nearest drydock after each major engagement to completely repair and restock... obviously handing a warship over to an AI is a bad idea. but even if it would be completely save to do so, i would prefer a human crew over AI any time.

I posted this message in my announcements about a month and a half ago I wanted to explain my reasoning for putting my Twitch streams behind a paywall as I’ve received a few questions about this. Here’s the two reasons I made this change. #1 When people watch TH-cam videos it helps my TH-cam channel grow. Views, likes, subscriptions and comments all contribute to the success of a video on TH-cam. When individual videos success the channel grows. Additionally ad revenue on TH-cam is a decent an reliable source of income. This is not true for Twitch, when people watch Twitch VODs it doesn’t do anything for Twitch growth and there’s virtually no ad revenue either. #2 Copyright trolling exists on both Twitch and TH-cam. Counter claiming on Twitch is far more difficult than on TH-cam. With VODs and Highlights publicly available on Twitch, I’m more vulnerable to troll claims. Claims have already caused a few series to end abruptly and if troll claims continue to happen I may have to setup my channel not to even store VODs at all, but having them be setup as subscriber only might be the stop-gap measure I’m hoping for. I am sorry of this has inconvenienced any of you. Apologies =[
