Write for Student Rights: Day of Action with Lyra Evans

On October 30, 2024, LGBT YouthLine hosted a virtual Day of Action for our Write for Student Rights campaign, featuring special guest Lyra Evans, Ottawa-Carleton District School Board trustee and Canada’s first openly trans school board trustee. Lyra shared her unique insights into how advocacy and organizing can protect and uplift 2SLGBTQ+ youth in Ontario schools.
In this session, we explore the current challenges and policies affecting queer, trans, and 2-Spirit youth in Ontario’s education system, and discuss ways the Ontario government and community allies can support safer, more inclusive learning environments.
