MTV on Channel 9 was often the highlight of my weekend trips to Melbourne and Geelong back then. I lived in the country (in a conservative area mind you) and my local TV channel didn't relay it. I also remember Molly on Hey Hey It's Saturday plugging MTV and what will be on it on his weekly segment, I was pissed off on weekends I was home. I sometimes got friends to record it for me.
i remember watching this at the time. The remake of 'Let It Be' I think was the first clip played? From memory this was the night before Rage began on ABC? They were certainly both launched very close to each other but I can't recall exact dates. MTV used to infuriate me, too. Every good song was "coming up next" and they'd keep reminding you that going into every ad break, and they'd make you wait till the end of the show 3 hours later! Good to see you back Jason!
I don’t know if it’s available worldwide, but in the US, Viacom recently introduced a MTV Classic, which airs nonstop music videos from the early 80s up to the late 2000s.
Old skool MTV on channel 9 when I was younger in 1989. I am now 29 today. Time flies. When music meant something. Unlike the today's MTV garbage and fake reality shows. I proudly wear my Junk food collection brand MTV jumper with pride while remembering the classic MTV hits of the 80's and early 90's. Thank you MTV for keeping me entertained in the 80's and early 90's. I want my MTV.......
I first saw MTV Europe here in the New Forest on Monday 30th January 1989 with my big Motorized Satellite dish 26 years on the dish is still standing,but it needs a new motor. HAPPY DAYS. A former disabled carer. A Happy New Year. GOD BLESS!
