What memories ... I picked her up from the satellite dish, back then, and it was in 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995 from the Astra satellite in Poland in such a small town of Wieruszów, when all the TV stations were broadcast in analogue from the satellite. My favorite programs at MTV Europe were the charts
I was a kid back then, spent all nights in front of MTV with a paper dictionary, translating lyrics 😊 30 years later Im an English teacher 💓💓 thank you MTV
Man this takes me back . I remember every one of these presenters , and many more , even though most were never heard from again after about 1998 (in the UK at least) . Kimsy , Kristiane , Maria , Ray and Marjine were the best . MTV Europe exposed me to so many great bands and artists in the mid nineties , and it is sorely missed.
Unbeliveable that you turned on TV, only to see this show right in time, then. Great area, you're waiting for your favorite hit, and went happy like a child at christmas when it was played
I almost get tears in my eyes watching this. This was before the MTV channel become a fucking shitty joke. My favourit VJ must Kristiane Backer. Everytime I see her I want to jump in to the computer screen. But were is the dutch beauty? Van Der Flugt?
The glorious Ray Cokes! Kristiane Backer becoming a Muslim eh? Who'd a thunk it! She was the love of my life back then when she used to host Headbangers Ball, them perfect brown eyes and fantastic accent :-D She's prob the reason why I love brunettes so much... especially if they've got a sexy foreign accent! Pip Dann sure was a cutie :-) My friend's fave was Rebecca... It's the same story, sexy foreign accent but a blonde in his case :-)
MTV was sooo brillant - till mid 1995 when it has been encrypted and broadcast for single lands. Many chart shows, videos, shows accompanied by VJs, Greatest Hits (do you remember 12:00/13:00 CET, but there was even Wednesday and Saturday 21:00 CET Greatest Hits by year, one whole hour for a single year of pure nostalgia, all with VJs introducing them. MTV European Top 20 was SAT 19:00 AND SUN 11:30 reply) Never forget my old MTV with the cool graphic IDs and spots. Now it's total crap
Reality shows killed the MTV star I'll never understand why did MTV changed so much, really miss the days I could open the channel and just watch video hits from across Europe :o(
Oh shit, that nostalgia. I knew their faces and names so well. I saw them for years, every day. Then, one day, MTV Europe was encrypted and they all disappeared from my life completely. Not a big shame, as MTV was about to change into something I wouldn't watch anyway. Even at it's heyday a lot of it was crap I didn't like, as I was into hard rock but I still watched it all the time and it shaped my visual taste immensely. Thanks for the video.
As an Aussie who lived for two years in Europe 1991-93, it seemed to me to that MTV Europe was a more unifying thing for European youth than the EU itself was (though it was still the EC then, it didn’t become the EU until the Treaty of Maastricht exactly one week after I left to fly home to Australia). In those days, whether on holidays or at home, MTV Europe brought young people across Europe all together. We all watched and listened to it, we all knew the songs and artists that appeared on it. It was something we all shared. It was thus an enormous pity that I finally returned in 1999 only to find that MTV Europe had been abandoned in 1997 and broken up into separate MTVs based on language - a type of pop cultural nationalism you could say. (Even one of my relatives confirmed this suspicion of mine when he said that it was better to have a German-language music channel for Germany and Austria, though he was referring to the German cable music channel VIVA, than just one in English.) It was all a great pity that MTV Europe was abandoned and broken up into separate MTVs. Oh, and Kristiane Backer was an absolute babe! 😍
Quite nostalgic but I hate it when people state falsehoods for the sake of a point as Paul King does in 2:20: Vince Clark left Depeche Mode not because they were going "too pop" but because they were going too dark Anyone listening to "Just Can't Get Enough" and compares it to later songs knows this.
maybe not the best but definitely the most interesting and stylish one. The style and atmosphere of Mtv Europe mean him! I miss these times very much....
But Paul King also spread that nonsense that "Vince Clark left Depeche Mode because they were going too pop" when it was in fact the opposite. But his announcing King's Love and Pride was superb...
How did I not know at the time that Pip Dann was a Kiwi? One of my antipodean sisters? It’s obvious from the accent, but I just assumed at the time that she must’ve been European to be on MTV Europe and therefore was from some small corner of the UK that had a somewhat similar accent. 🤦🏻♂️
Reality shows didn't kill MTV - the internet did. TBH I wouldn't want to go back to MTV now with youtube, soundcloud and millions of blogs, and I watched it 24/7 in the early 90s loving every second of it.
I watched the first night pre transmission, but when Marcel Van Thilt came I thought w t f? he was a loony and looked out of his depth, I recorded it too but the ex nicked it. it was very slow at first but picked up fast. I loved the early days and Christianna Backer was hot. The satellite trade shows at Earls Court turned up some of the VJ's and was a great time for me. MTV died as a great channel. sad really sad.
Who is the VJ at the very end of this clip? th-cam.com/video/ky0GfcghkJE/w-d-xo.html&t Additionally, would you happen to know where the interview at the 1:07 mark would have been filmed? It appears to have occurred sometime around Glastonbury '95; if not at said festival.
never too keen on Ray Cokes. Kristiane Backer I met at satellite shows in London on a few occasions and she was really nice. I remember the first night of transmissions, thank god they got rid of Marcel Van Thilt!
Such a shame. Same goes for discovery or national geo. Once I have red why.....because of the audience. Majority wants reality shows, cooking or pets. Fukem.
i cannot handle so much nostalgia
ray cokes, paul king, steve blame, pip dann, kristiane backer, SIMONE, Rebecca de ruvo,
can't believe I remember all their namesQ!
Bless you sir. The fucker who created the video didn’t have the sense to put their names on there, and I was despairing before I saw your comment.
I'm enjoying Rays you tube channel. He has a live show coming soon too, it's already on Facebook on a Friday evening. It's worth a watch 💕
And Maiken Wexo
@@csabamike228 If you are interested in Ray Cokes, he has a TH-cam channel, it needs so much more attention!

Such a trip down memory lane. Miss the old MTV Europe.
Oh my god, how I miss that early 90’s era of MTV Europe!!! All those VJ’s and all that music! The tv was on constantly back then!
Pip and Kristiane were gorgeous. Really miss those MTV-days. Creative, fun times. Thanks for the upload.

Me too.😑
May I ask, when did you graduate? Ja ukończyłem UŚ w 2004 r.
Mtv Europe used to rule. No reality tv bollocks and a full European platform. This helped form my interesting taste in music.
🙄
Was The Real World not reality TV? 🙄
But it was not a massive thing back then reality TV dominates what's on. Real world was ok actually
@@ELCNUmorFnaMehT The Real World wasn’t on MTV Europe back in the early 90s.
Of course it was, I watched it pretty religiously here in Finland!@@frankie3041
Thank you SO MUCH for uploading this. Brings back so many good memories.
Then was a best times of MTV, best vjs and best music...

They need to bring out a channel that plays 90's MTV Europe TV listings continously
I saw that video 3 days ago and since then I'm still nolstagic and melancholc about that era...
Me too.
How beautiful girl was Kristiane Backer!!! ( 6:00 - 7:50 )
i used to watch mtv europe every day after school. goooood times! good music! post-communist romania... what a richness of music!
I almost get tears in my eyes watching this. This was before the MTV channel become a fucking shitty joke. My favourit VJ must Kristiane Backer. Everytime I see her I want to jump in to the computer screen. But were is the dutch beauty? Van Der Flugt?

U r sooooo right-MTV was something unforgetable till 1995.Actually the golden MTV era was 1989-mid. 1994.
Reality shows killed the MTV star
I'll never understand why did MTV changed so much, really miss the days I could
open the channel and just watch video hits from across Europe :o(
Simone Angel was such a fun VJ. It was like she was on a constant sugar rush.
TH-cam is like a music video vending machine; MTV (back then) was like having your music video brought to you on a silver tray by a waiter.
Jeez, I miss them. Must have been one of the best teams on TV.
Simone was the best, such a cool host. I was thought she was English with that accent. I was surprised when I found out she was Dutch.
and Ray Coks's program - Most Wanted
MTV all went wrong after the 90's
I remember them all in the same way that people remember their school teachers.
Chicks in the 90's were so simple, natural and hot without even trying.
Thanks MTV
the girls were stunning.
back in the days. i love them all!

Pip Dann
Their look were modest and yet awesome
Thanks the info!
She was the best VJ at that time in the MTV, she was my favourite :)
Reminds me of when I was in Germany back around 1990.

Danny McGill and nonnie my childhood favourite oh ho those days early 90s ❤😂
Pip Dann is so timeless beautiful
Kristiane Backer was so hot!!!
Hotter than hell! (and then some more)
I was about to write the exact same comment
Absolutely! And i also had a soft spot for Maiken Wexo. \m/ (:o)
Her voice melts you where you stand 😍
Omg *cry* I miss mtv.. miss the 90’s
Simone Angel, she was also in MTV Dance Floor [1996 - 1998] - MTV Dial - MTV Braun - MTV European Top 20. While Rebecca De Ruvo, was also in MTV Dial.
Happy days
WHEN MTV WAS STILL A MUSIC CHANNEL :(

Aaahhhh, Rebecca, i was sooo in love with her!!! 😍
I use to learn English with these guys ; )
I wonder why MTV's not celebrating their 30 years of broadcasting and the fans are supposed to...

I remember gorgeous VJs from the later 90s - Cat Deeley, Eden Harel, Becky Griffin
And I regret that there is no TV on the satellite anymore
I'm enjoying Rays you tube channel. He has a live show coming soon too, it's already on Facebook on a Friday evening. It's worth a watch 💕
Rays amazing
thinking of Christianna Backer brought me here, boy she was beautiful ! used to love mtv ....

Wrong. Reality shows killed MTV long before youtube existed and when the internet was still slow and alot of people still didn't have it at home.
My youth😍😍😍
What! No Maria G here - what a disappointment :(
no tak właśnie wystartował kanał MTV
2021 and its still going but not as great as it was.
Prawdziwe MTV
And it is and it will be for me a cult television
kristiane and Simone, what can I say?
Rebecca de ruvo. oh MTV what happened to you
Simone Angel reminds me gwen stefani a lot...
I watched the first night pre transmission, but when Marcel Van Thilt came I thought w t f? he was a loony and looked out of his depth, I recorded it too but the ex nicked it. it was very slow at first but picked up fast. back then those presenters were perceived kinda cool while nowadays one would wonder wtf the point of their weird blabbering is haha
Kristiane Backer ❤❤❤❤❤
Who is the VJ at the very end of this clip?

What a brunette, Kristiane was so hot!! Remember I have a crush on her
never too keen on Ray Cokes. Kristiane Backer I met at satellite shows in London on a few occasions and she was really nice. I remember the first night of transmissions, thank god they got rid of Marcel Van Thilt!
Did you meet Paul King?

thumbs up :)
Where is Maiken Vexø? : (
Maiken Vexo?
I loved it from 1995 to 2001.
When MTV were all about music! Today they should change name to RTV, for showing all that crappy reality tv
Kristiane Backer talking monotonous whilst staring at the teleprompter. Now I remember why I thought it all seemed a little artificial.
Used to fancy pip dann and kristiane
Such a shame. Same goes for discovery or national geo. Once I have red why.....because of the audience. Majority wants reality shows, cooking or pets. Fukem.
OMG, Is Pip wearing Vivienne Westwood at 04:50???
Those Guys.. rules MTV when was MTV most wanted !!!! now is a crap!!!!
