- In this video I talk about some of best sun protection clothing and gear that I use while fishing. Everyone knows that prolonged exposure to the sun and frequent sunburns can cause skin cancer. I like to use sungaiters, masks, gloves and lightweight long sleeved performance fishing shirts with hoods to protect me from the sun on hot days.

So very serious question, do most of these long sleeve shirts provide bug protection from mosquitoes and ticks? I have a pretty bad mosquito allergy and it pays off to have extra protection from mosquitoes other than spray. Especially since I don’t want spray on my hands for handling flies and lures.

You need to be able to feel the line when tying knots on hooks, leaders, etc. Personally, I don't wear gloves at all for this reason.
The fingertips are cut off so you can cast easier when using spinning tackles. Also to tie knots with since you can be more precise, while it's enough coverage to protect your hands from sun burn, preventing skin cancer.

but getting BURNED is the main factor, i like this gear because it allows my body to withstand sun (to fish) without the need of chemical filled sun screen.
