Dodging DDK Fighting - Basic Baduk

Sometimes you will get all sorts of players that try to get you into all sorts of fighting at all ranks, even at the ddk level. I think in these games i managed so successfully avoid the fighting they wanted to lure me into, and instead played a much more simple game.

I think this is exactly what I need. I can play big points ok but when my opponent starts attaching to all of my stones I just get sucked into fighting

Can anyone explain the K17 peep? I'm having trouble getting it to work because M19 is sente for black if white descends after the connect, and I can't seem to get enough liberties to win the capturing race if white cuts and black simply turns.

It's probably a generational thing and it's not a big deal either way, but it always sounds wrong to me when you call your opponent "he". It's probably a safe bet to assume they're male, but why not just use "they"?

As I said, it's not really an issue, just something unfamiliar, so it sounds like wrong grammar and so it disrupts the flow in listening. It was intended as feedback, not trying to woke scold.
