8:30 I think frost wall does attack damage, when you shatter it with an attack, so it has noting to do with being triggered, you can also just cast it manually. Spell damage wont benefit attacks, so it better to build into attack and elemental damage.
@@Powermongur Oh okay. I see what you're saying. Spell damage likely doesn't benefit the frost wall so that's maybe why it's good with cast on freeze here. You'd need a different setup if you want, say, frost nova to work well in cast on freeze monk build. I still think there will be ways to build into attack dmg while doing decent spell dmg from meta gems.
@@nathanbustamante1525 Frost wall is a spell, but i dont have any info on the shatter explosion part. Either it comes from crit + elemental damage nodes or it uses attack when hit by an attack. You can build a trigger Monk with spell damage nodes, but then you wouldn't take attack damage nodes. We can see in the footage Octavian does good attack damage with his attack, so it not a caster trigger Monk. The meta gem Cast on Freeze doesn't convert any spell damage afaik from reading it. So the idea of adding just a few spell damage nodes to an attack build won't make you a viable caster or from trigger. you can use the effect, but not for the damage.
@@Powermongur Frost wall does flat cold damage so it would seem to me to benefit from elemental damage as well as spell damage. I think if you got elemental damage nodes and ice penetration nodes it would do decent damage for the monk. That makes sense to me. What about you? We'll really just have to see in game how it defines the explosion I guess. But right now it seems like it could benefit from spell dmg, elemental, dmg, and ice penetration and probably a few other passives as well. I think I saw one for increased damage from triggered skills.
Man I'm so excited to get my hands on POE2. I'm probably gonna just spend an hour going through tabs and reading everything when I get my first uncut gem and support gem lol.
@ 9:40 for that case of triggering spells with attacks. In poe1 you have a bunch of nodes (and item affixes) to increase elemental damage. The numbers generally are not as high as pure spell or attack dmg, but you could do an hybrid elemental spell/attach approach with that. I don't know how this will be in poe2 thou.
while i cant remeber seeing "elemental damage" (not saying its not there) ive defintly seen alot of "increased lightning damage" and "increased fire damage" etc. so presumably you could take alot of that and then have some specific attack and spell damage nodes on your weapon swaps.
At the end of the Ziggy D interview Mark said he was interested in making a trigger Monk so there are obviously ways to scale the spell damage without going so far out of your way it is detrimental. I'm for sure going Monk & at least the for the first one it will be Invoker. Now that we know we can not switch ascendancies i'm too scared to give up the spirit as it will all rest on how powerful the mana leech is. There is still a lot to mess with. POE 1 they just replaced a Ranger ascendancy with a new one called the Warden & one of the best nodes it had was - Unbound Avatar which is just an insane damage boost. As crazy as the Monk they showed was they never had Unbound Avatar. I'll probably go I am the Blizzard because chilled ground is so good & freezing enemies is one of the best defenses in the game. But we will have to see once we are playing & have more information. You did great in the Tri interview, people were impressed how you put stuff together having never played POE 1. Love your videos.
When did they say that we are locked into our ascendancy? I've totally missed that part... I wanted to start with Witchhunter and respec into gemling lehionaire
I am planing on playing quarterstaff sorc, will be hoping for two more ascendancy nodes to be cold related and use shock/freeze, also sorc tree starts close to monk area
I'm cautiously optimistic about the wolf form. Hoping for a fast, angular, claw swiping, bleed inducing biting Werewolf form somewhere as a skill gem or ascendancy.
@@谢睿-n9j it enhances quarterstaff skills that are melee, but also says it is a "spell" This is why im not certain those supports would work, but think they might work because of those keywords you mentioned. We'll have to see on dec 6th
In my lightning monk theory craft vid i go over the crackling implicit that provides surge charges that stack lightning dmg on hit and then wear off after a duration. Other than that, we havent seen other implicits
Imo I think they ll let us reserve darkness instead of spirit with that ascendancy instead. It would have been too big of a nerf otherwise and the power you get from the node does not justify the nerf.
Monk most likely is my 2nd play through but to be honest I’ll probably play all 6 characters partially but you know I’m building a Master Chief / Halo character first ❤😂
Daze doesn't exist in PoE 1, so I have no clue what it does in PoE 2. If I were to guess, it is maybe a status effect that makes enemies easier to stun, or it is like a lesser version of a stun. Simmilar to how chill is a lesser version of freeze.
Hey guys, what do you think regarding dark monk instant mana leech + MoM? Big jebait? Cuz nearly all quarterstaff Attacks have convert to lightning/cold damage with like 60-80% but we can leech mana only using physical damage.
While i am playing a witch minion build on my first run, the Monk is bar for my 2nd most excited class to play. most of other classes at the moment don't appeal to me too much but i'll revisit them later as we learn more about game after launch but i love minion/necro builds and monk just looks so fun. So many people are going warrior, soo many people and it baffles me, it looks most boring of all the classes to me, i never been a fan of really slow movements and slow attacks, even in FPS games when i played them back in day i couldn't stand slow powerful weapons, i always prefer faster ones that do less dmg per shot but are more agile and quicker. POE 2 looks like it'll be slow as it is, i don't want to play slowest class in POE 2 on top of that, not sure why so many people love the warrior.
While you feel that, this warrior seems more fun than other iteration from before. Those slam and other fissure skill are very expressive and effective, not just a dull strike. So that's another thing that help it looks rewarding enough to be enjoyable.
@@fourth4q118 I just can't wrap my head around while anyone likes to play slower bigger hit builds other then just, "Big hit better". If i had choice of a weapon that swings 2 times in 2 seconds dealing 100 dmg each or 1 weapon swinging 1 time in 2 seconds doing 200 damage each, i would choose faster weapon every single time, because you do same DPS but you are more agile and quicker. If you can't keep up with your enemy what good does swining slower and hitting bigger do? I in almost every MMO, ARPG, etc that i play always pick more agile characters over slow ones. I'd much rather have far less defenses even if i can move around easier. Watching warrior playthroughs that i seen is just painful to me, i am dying inside watching it, yet most people are loving it and i am like why???? I'd play every other class twice to try a build in each ascendency before i played that incredibly slow warrior. Monk on other hand is a melee but is far far more interesting and fun, simply because it's attacks are quick! And i'd pick a monk any day over warrior. the gameplay just watching the monk crush through it's enemies with those ice attacks is just so much more enjoyable to see then a giant guy moving like a snail struggling to swing this gigantic weapon before the enemy moves out of the way.
i wonder how a giants blood character with staff+ shield looks like. spinning around doing staff skills with a greatshield in the other hand must look awkward af
jonathan said in the recent Tri interview that Unarmed is absolutely in the game, that there is a unique pair of gloves from PoE1 that supports it, but that there is a lot of animation work with skills in order for it to be ready in the game. so, we don't know if that means you'll need the unique to make the build work or if an ascendancy will make it possible. in previous footage there were a bunch of unarmed passives toward the right side of the skill tree. i show them here: th-cam.com/video/Hh0TSQ6-kKI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=f3oMC6qhyUmoNaX0 (go to 34:35) you can notice that it is right across from the quarterstaff constellation.
@@off-meta-michael I think that's still involving the staff. I'm hoping for a completely different style with no staff. Maybe gauntlets at the least for a new ascendency. One can only dream for now 😔
@@schmiggidy in the skill gem window you can see your DPS for each individual skill. But keep in mind that doesn't give the exact accurate picture since combinations and situational uses are a huge part of the gameplay.

Maybe Druid IF there was a badass wolf form. If you mean of the six classes available on dec 6th, then maybe some kind of warrior/minion build. Im hoping that when swords, daggers, and axes are implemented we get more combo melee builds. That's what im most interested in so far.
if you never streamed but wanted to do so this might be a good time to try it , i don't know any slow playing lore/build finder , you might have a niche there that people will want to watch. at least record your first full playtrough uncut gameplay and put it up on youtube .
hey thanks for the feedback. i'm going to consider it a great deal. havent decided how to proceed exactly. i guess recording the uncut gameplay wouldn't be hard, it would just require a crap ton of space, but is doable.
I wonder if you will be able to create 2 own builds to go to the End Game like Atlas. True gameplay is different from 1 but when it comes to creating an End game build I think it will be similar to Poe 1 as complex as it seems you will had little freedom to create an End game build. Now many believe that in 2 if you have respec in Tree skill with gold you can correct the mistakes made but in POe an End game character must be compatible between Tree skill-Gems-Ascendancy to be able to have an End Game character. But in the end if you manage to create 2 End game builds I will be the first to congratulate you. So END GAME Atlas not only act 1-6 and show me how to kill some mobs

Diablo-like is not an insult. It is a fact. The only sad part here is that they (the current diablo 4 developers) compare themselves to the greats how made diablo 1 and 2. Edit:clarification
yea, saying a game is a diablo-like is not insulting by itself. but the way he put it with the timing of the tweet shows that he's trying to "hand wave" PoE2 away instead of engaging with what was just the greatest looking most impactful ARPG since D2. i think it's obvious that he's trying to underplay what they've done by saying there should be a "diablo-like" category. otherwise he would have said something like, "wow, these guys have taken the diablo-like formula to another level, nice work GGG"
@@off-meta-michael I agree Michael. I feel the same. The passion from ggg is clear in every video they put out. Poe1 was too complated for me. Poe2 seems to strike exactly the correct balance. On a side note thank you for posting your music. I enjoyed listening to it this morning at work. Cheers!

Elemental damage is on the passive tree. Ive gone over it in my other videos. There's also nodes for triggered spell damage.
Best intro
I am planing on playing quarterstaff sorc, will be hoping for two more ascendancy nodes to be cold related and use shock/freeze, also sorc tree starts close to monk area
That is the monk of d3 !!!! Wave of light uliana mantra. Loooolll.
Vaulting impact could also be great on warrior. Dex/int requirement should be easier with the free stats you now get from the tree.
I'm dying to see new footage from Druid
I'm cautiously optimistic about the wolf form. Hoping for a fast, angular, claw swiping, bleed inducing biting Werewolf form somewhere as a skill gem or ascendancy.
Lol Turd Ferguson. That was hilarious.
“Duration, Buff, Attack, AoE, Melee”
Charged Staff is a melee skill
@@谢睿-n9j it enhances quarterstaff skills that are melee, but also says it is a "spell"
This is why im not certain those supports would work, but think they might work because of those keywords you mentioned. We'll have to see on dec 6th
@@off-meta-michael I can't stand it anymore; each day feels like an ordeal.🥲
We haven’t really seen many of the staff item-abilities, hey? Do we know if they have any?
In my lightning monk theory craft vid i go over the crackling implicit that provides surge charges that stack lightning dmg on hit and then wear off after a duration.
Other than that, we havent seen other implicits
Imo I think they ll let us reserve darkness instead of spirit with that ascendancy instead. It would have been too big of a nerf otherwise and the power you get from the node does not justify the nerf.
We do indeed have gear
@@RichardMPM giants blood is sword, macez and axe only
@@off-meta-michael damn dude that was quick, cheers
I hope the third ascendency for monk is unarmed fist of fury Monk 👊🏼
jonathan said in the recent Tri interview that Unarmed is absolutely in the game, that there is a unique pair of gloves from PoE1 that supports it, but that there is a lot of animation work with skills in order for it to be ready in the game. so, we don't know if that means you'll need the unique to make the build work or if an ascendancy will make it possible. in previous footage there were a bunch of unarmed passives toward the right side of the skill tree.
i show them here: th-cam.com/video/Hh0TSQ6-kKI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=f3oMC6qhyUmoNaX0 (go to 34:35) you can notice that it is right across from the quarterstaff constellation.
@@off-meta-michael I think that's still involving the staff. I'm hoping for a completely different style with no staff. Maybe gauntlets at the least for a new ascendency. One can only dream for now 😔
I really hope PoE2 has some variation of a primary DPS calculator.
@@schmiggidy in the skill gem window you can see your DPS for each individual skill. But keep in mind that doesn't give the exact accurate picture since combinations and situational uses are a huge part of the gameplay.
I don't think Charged Staff is not a melee Attack skill. Its a spell so pulverize shouldn't work.
Diablo will soon be referred to as PoE lite
Have you ever played World of Warcraft? They rereleased Classic again.
Been playing hardcore and it’s really fun.
No, i specifically avoided WoW back in the day. All my cousins were into it and i thought to myself, "if i play this, ill never stop"
Plus, it had a monthly fee which seemed crazy back in the day for a video game.
@ me 20 years later still playing. 😂
If Monk weren't your starting class, which would it have been?
Maybe Druid IF there was a badass wolf form. If you mean of the six classes available on dec 6th, then maybe some kind of warrior/minion build.
Im hoping that when swords, daggers, and axes are implemented we get more combo melee builds. That's what im most interested in so far.
@@off-meta-michael im excited for sword and shield, Duelist/Gladiator bleed build is an exciting class for the future, also Huntress!
if you never streamed but wanted to do so this might be a good time to try it ,
i don't know any slow playing lore/build finder , you might have a niche there that people will want to watch.
at least record your first full playtrough uncut gameplay and put it up on youtube .
hey thanks for the feedback. i'm going to consider it a great deal. havent decided how to proceed exactly. i guess recording the uncut gameplay wouldn't be hard, it would just require a crap ton of space, but is doable.
Dont think pulverize will work with charged staff as its a spell not an attack. pulverize supports attack skills (i think) cant wait to find out!
@@666gene yea, i said i wasn't sure, but if you look at the keywords they match so it might work
ok....i m going monk
I wonder if you will be able to create 2 own builds to go to the End Game like Atlas. True gameplay is different from 1 but when it comes to creating an End game build I think it will be similar to Poe 1 as complex as it seems you will had little freedom to create an End game build. Now many believe that in 2 if you have respec in Tree skill with gold you can correct the mistakes made but in POe an End game character must be compatible between Tree skill-Gems-Ascendancy to be able to have an End Game character. But in the end if you manage to create 2 End game builds I will be the first to congratulate you. So END GAME Atlas not only act 1-6 and show me how to kill some mobs
i wanted to play monk, but i dont like the bell skill which seems to be a must in every build.
@@markossrarkos2729its not a must at all, also its been heavily nerfed since it was first shown because group play could spam it and trivialize all the bosses

Lets coin the phrase "PoE-like" (po-like)
What about "exile-like"
I never heard of Daze, guess its new
Diablo-like is not an insult.
Cheers!
Diablo-like? What's that? Looks Path of Exile-like to me.

Monk going to be the wanna-be melee players. D:
You don’t know what daze is? It’s exactly what it sounds like. Bro I swear I can’t stand comment hunting streamers like you.
Its not an ailment that has been defined in PoE2 yet.
Of course i know what the word daze means in real life. Im talking about applying the ailment in PoE. There arent any other skills that use the word "daze"
Its not a comment hunt. Also, i dont stream on any kind of regular basis. I have a job.
Finally, YOU COMMENTED complaining about comment hunting. Unreal.
Does daze make the enemy immobile? Does it fill the stun bar or does it have its own ailment gauge? Does it mean that enemies can't use any attacks or only special attacks? Maybe it makes spells not castable but physical attacks can still be used.
Finally and most importantly, do you have the answers to these questions?
So Glad I am not only one Calling him "Turd"!
