You just made me realize the visual irony of their fruits. Both are purple fruits covered in swirls like most Paramecias and Zoans, but Blackbeard's swirls turn into points like wisps of fire, (i.e. Ace's fruit, the Mera-Mera,) while Luffy's fruit is round and smooth, like the moon. The early paramecia designs also fit with information from the story, like how a darkness user can't become intangible like other Logia's, and the fact that the Gomu-Gomu No Mi was intentionally misonomed as a paramecia by the World Government.

I believe BB is the true final villain over Imu. The world essentially has 3 outcomes between luffy, BB and Imu. With luffy, you get a better, brighter world. Luffy is the sun god who leaves things brighter and better when he leaves. BB is literal darkness and destruction who leaves chaos and destruction in his wake. I feel black beard has a lot of reverse themes to luffy despite being an emperor he still goes around on the cheapest possible log ship while luffy has one of the most high tech ships black beard loves cherry pie while luffy hates it black beard started in the new world and worked backwards while luffy went forward. blackbeard is patient and took his time for his dream while luffy rushed. luffy has themes of light and hope, black beard darkness. (fun note here the skypiea foreshadowing of conis asking a god for help and luffy is nika) both believe in freedom but their view of it differ. luffy acts on instinct and morals black beard acts on opportunity - it's going to be amazing when we get the final clash between these 2.i like to amazing it will be a battle of beliefs, it would be cool if blackbeard wasn't just ended as a common evil villain and becomes one of the most memorable antagonists in the series.

One piece is great because the end game is still a mystery… we have so many end game lvl threats. World gov, black beard, red hair, cross guild, plus all the one off threats like where is Shiki the golden lion.
With the World Gov specifically, we have Imu who seemingly noticed Blackbeard and Luffy specifically. So I have a feeling certain "end game" threats might have to (temporarily?) work with Luffy against other potentially bigger threats.

I think you mightve forgot the part where Devon and Van Augur show up to Egghead from the boat. Caribou has knowledge of two of the ancient weapons, and he asked the two of them to speak to Blackbeard.

The elders stated that specifically zoan type devil fruits have a will of their own, which means that the yami yami no mi couldn’t have purposefully went to teech UNLESS the yami yami no mi is also a disguised mythical zoan or something. this could also explain why it doesn’t have the logia intangibility, and instead the absorption

Octopi: - Have 8 legs, like the bones on his Jolly Roger - Have 3 hearts, like the skulls on his Jolly Roger - Have 3 hearts, which would be the number of fruits he has if the theory is true which would be a cool way to explain handling multiple fruits and possibly the "they" statement and his "weird body." - Sleep only 2 hours a day in extremely short cycles, which might explain why no one has ever seen Blackbeard sleep, he might be getting microsleeps totalling 2 hours a day Also having a mythical sea creature as a devil fruit being able to survive in the sea would certainly be sick as hell and very cool reveal for the final villain to be immune to the biggest fruit drawback.

I figure there are two souls in Blackbeards body, two different personalities that probably think of each other as brothers, kinda like what happened to Vangeance in Black Clover except it’s from birth. That’s why Luffy and Zoro noticed the difference the second time they spoke to Blackbeard, it was a different person speaking to them the second time. Also the ability to get two devil fruit powers lends validity to the theory. That’s why Teach hasn’t kept acquiring more DF powers, he can only get two. It’s the only thing that makes sense. While you’d think Teach’s plan and ruthlessness give him a leg up over Luffy, Luffy has luck that Teach doesn’t have, hence the reason they’ve rarely bumped into each other. Luck is a power as dangerous as any devil fruit.

Honestly speaking? I think Blackbeard would've had the edge during the events on Jaya. One, Luffy had no idea of Haki or had even reach the level of the Gears at this time. Zoro could cut iron/steel, but Blackbeard having knowledge and (very likely) Armament Haki at the time then there was likely not much chance for him. Robin could put up a fight, but while we don't see him using it, there's a high chance on the fact that Blackbeard probably had the Dark Dark Fruit at the time. The others would have a VERY hard time dealing with Burgess, Doc Q, and Van Auger too, especially since a lot of their Pre-Skip weaponry/abilities wouldn't match the Blackbeard Pirates might (not saying they wouldn't/couldn't put up a fight, just observing that they weren't at that level just yet). So, to wrap it up: Blackbeard would've captured Luffy had the Knock-Up Stream not happened.
I think there is a significant reason why Blackbeard's fights are off screen. There is something mysterious about his powers. Would love to see what it is.

I'm never a fan of filling in the backstory of your main villains. Somehow learning he was once a normal person makes them much less interesting. He's the antagonist, he's the foil to our hero, and both their ambitions will lead to an inevitable death match! That's all we need and I cannot wait until they clash

I've never seen anything in my life that has captured my soul like "One Piece" and it's the only show that I will feel like I've lost a loved one when the show ends. Its going to feel like the great depression when I no longer see "To Be Continued" at the end of the episode.

Ace was worth 500 million and wasnt even a captain of his own crew, let alone the vice captain. Yet, Luffy, after the timeskip and after defeating Doflamingo, had just reached 500 million bounty. We all know that non-captains usually have their bounties way lower than their captains no matter what.
Not only that, we saw Ace and Blackbeard fight, and what they did in that island was far beyond any of the straw hat's abilities.

I figure there are two souls in Blackbeards body, two different personalities that probably think of each other as brothers, kinda like what happened to Vangeance in Black Clover except it’s from birth. That’s why Luffy and Zoro noticed the difference the second time they spoke to Blackbeard, it was a different person speaking to them the second time. Also the ability to get two devil fruit powers lends validity to the theory. That’s why Teach hasn’t kept acquiring more DF powers, he can only get two. It’s the only thing that makes sense. While you’d think Teach’s plan and ruthlessness give him a leg up over Luffy, Luffy has luck that Teach doesn’t have, hence the reason they’ve rarely bumped into each other. Luck is a power as dangerous as any devil fruit.

Honestly speaking? I think Blackbeard would've had the edge during the events on Jaya. One, Luffy had no idea of Haki or had even reach the level of the Gears at this time. Zoro could cut iron/steel, but Blackbeard having knowledge and (very likely) Armament Haki at the time then there was likely not much chance for him. Robin could put up a fight, but while we don't see him using it, there's a high chance on the fact that Blackbeard probably had the Dark Dark Fruit at the time. The others would have a VERY hard time dealing with Burgess, Doc Q, and Van Auger too, especially since a lot of their Pre-Skip weaponry/abilities wouldn't match the Blackbeard Pirates might (not saying they wouldn't/couldn't put up a fight, just observing that they weren't at that level just yet).
So, to wrap it up: Blackbeard would've captured Luffy had the Knock-Up Stream not happened.
I think there is a significant reason why Blackbeard's fights are off screen. There is something mysterious about his powers. Would love to see what it is.

Even post timeskip, when a far more powerful BB with 2+ years experience of using the obscene power of WB's Gura-Gura no mi, pulls up on Boa and Rayleigh intervenes, BB *retreats* despite Rayleigh admitting that he's no longer sure if he could take on BB.
*TL;DR -* The Blackbeards Pirates at _this_ point would have annihilated the Strawhats and it would *not* have been close.

I'm never a fan of filling in the backstory of your main villains. Somehow learning he was once a normal person makes them much less interesting. He's the antagonist, he's the foil to our hero, and both their ambitions will lead to an inevitable death match! That's all we need and I cannot wait until they clash

Imagine how different things would’ve been if someone went with ace to hunt down Blackbeard, or even if ace listened to whitebeard.
The fight between Blackbeard and pre time skip Luffy would be insane but we do see a skirmish at impel down were Luffy clearly has the upper hand but Blackbeard definitely has some tricks Luffy just blitzes Teech with gear second and makes him cough blood.
