The designers/architect needs to be more creative in their designs. The skyline is been dominated by big boxy standalone structures. Which will lead to a boring skyline. They need to think out of the box. No punt intended. They can design towers with wide base (Footprint) and narrows as the structure ascend with fewer apartments. These apartments should be luxurious in their amenities, such as larger rooms. Exclusive balconies and panoramic view. They will be more expensive obviously, but you have to pay more for exclusivity. The investor will make back their money.
These buildings need to step up a notch in design. Too much concrete and small windows. I'm guessing these buildings are just the start before more modern and unique buildings are constructed.
@uhuru27 Many modern cities across the globe have more modern buildings dating back two decades. I am glad for any progress in Jamaica. I just think we need to make more ambitious steps when it comes to the structures that we are building. I am a Jamaican who has lived in multiple cities in other countries. The price of these apartments should reflect the quality. There are a few that do.

For your information,most Jamaicans can't afford these development and the NHt that was created to provide affordable housing for the masses has now join these creedy developers.Just look at what happened recently with the NHT and a developer that was contracted to build homes in St Ann.Imagine a one bedroom at the Ruthven Towers starting at Twenty seven million dollars.

@@chelseaclinton4535Not all of us wants to live in government housing scheme. For many years it was government scheme going up creating ghettos which is fueling crime. We need diversity in housing options and this is what is happening in years. If there was no demand for these type of building then they would not have been built. For years government control the housing market and focusing on the working poor at the expense of the middle and upper class. Look at all the development in Portmore as they were all working class housing. I would never live in a housing scheme as it does not meet my taste of comfort 😊

There’s nothing sad about Chinese developers doing projects in Jamaica having options is better than a monopoly the Chinese are here to help develop our country.
They need to build more Highrise buildings like this 9:52 with underground and above ground parking.. The city looks too spread out and looks like hell for foot traffic - which is needed in various concentrated bits for a sense of life and community in a city. If the city keeps spreading out like this, I can only see environmental disaster around the corner - the cutting down of trees will precipitate this. But I am pretty sure no one in the city management is planning 20 - 50 years ahead as usual for Jamaica.
