- The Morant Bay Urban Centre is an integrated business complex in the form of a new urban center located in St. Thomas, Jamaica. Here are some key points about it:
Purpose and Services:
The center houses both public and private sector entities, providing a variety of services in what can be described as a one-stop shop.
It aims to facilitate the amalgamation of services provided by the Government of Jamaica and the private sector.
Among the entities located at the Morant Bay Urban Centre are the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation, the Parish Court, the Registrar General’s Department, the tax office, fast food establishments, and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies. These entities collectively contribute to employment opportunities for the people of the parish.
Size and Development:
The complex spans an impressive 365,000 square feet of space.
Construction began in October 2022, and over 70 businesses have already signed pre-lease agreements within the facility.
The project is a joint venture between the Factories Corporation of Jamaica (FCJ) and China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC).
Project Updates:
As of November 2023, construction and infrastructural works are underway, with foundation and drainage works progressing across the site.
The Morant Bay Urban Centre is expected to generate approximately 3,000 new jobs and attract significant private investment
I must commend this JLP Government this is a good move..Complex Being out of use for such long time..
JLP FOR JAMAICA!!
Yesssireeeee! 🙌🙌🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️ About time St Thomas get proper attention and upgrade. Life coming back to my mother's parish after more than half a century. 🎇🎆✨
My beautiful parish getting some major update.
It's coming along nicely
It's almost unbelievable, TBH.
Think back to Jamaica around 10 years ago, say 2013-14. Would you imagine 2024 would be so forward-looking with all these projects underway?
It's very encouraging, and nice to see! The Morant Bay UC took a while from conception to start, but since beginning it has been moving along briskly. Thanks for the update.
Different people in government... more responsible with the country's funds.
Just right in my back yard❤
Thats a great look for St Thomas

This is wonderful for my parish. Need to now see some residential complex nearby for these folks who will be transferred from Kingston.

Good video Drone View,.👍 The current structures look just like the concept videos from the UDC almost 2 yrs ago. This is what St Thomas needs.
CAN YOU BELIEVE ST THOMAS IS THE ONLY PARISH IN JAMAICA 🇯🇲 I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO BEFORE NOW IS THE RIGHT TIME FOR ME TO VISIT BY watching your videos I realize this place is so beautiful stunning ocean 🌊 and mountains 🏔
I am in love with St.Thomas since I started making videos of the parish. So much of it is untouched. It reminds me of Portland, especially the eastern areas. Watch the next coming. Amity Hall to Golden Grove, breath taken landscapes.
Alot of scenic areas and gems are in the parish
Nice
Cant wait to visit ❤
You can see those roof are built for hurricane essentially those with the many steel ribs on top
Thanks 🎉 again for your updates on the Urban Center...aka Mo.Bay urban Center.

God pleas dont mek the pnp see back power
Tell you family members at home and abroad to vote jlp
Nice 👍🏾 thank you for the beautiful video
Thank you too
Thankz for this update breddren!
No problem 👍
I would now like to see two reservoirs the size of Mona Dam built in St. Thomas to ease water 💧 shortages in the region and to cater to the new developments and influx in residents. This would not affect how much goes into Mona Dam either cause these new reservoirs would be fed by other river sources.
What about the fier station v and a medical center
Fantastic!
Is thus construction being built with consideration to hurricane?
Yes ❤man🎉
All happening yet these people blaming the government and saying jamaica even going in the wrong directions, jamaica is transforming
Thanks for this update.. it’s coming along nicely. Would love to get an update on Rogers building up close. Has work really stopped on that building?
I will go and check and give you a update.
PNP you see this!!!!
Bredrin stop it! Their finance minister couldn’t afford to lose election so he had to run with it! 😅
@@Kenjardo yh man him run wid it so till ,pnp not gonna see back ST Thomas for a long long time
ANOTHER JUICI PATTIES? LAWD JESUS! WHO ASKED FOR DIS? WEH POPEYES, CHIK FIL A, MCDONALD'S, PIZZA HUT, DOMINOS, MOTHERS, KFC, DEVON HOUSE DEH???
Buy a chic fil a franchise and bring it there. There will be lots of shop spaces for rent.
I agree, why not an island grill or something new like bird shack
Why would you rather have a foreign fast food chain rather than a local Jamaican owned one
And there will be a burger King and kFC outlet there as well.
@@devonmillwood6643 That's great!
How long is the drive from the Kingston Airport to Morant Bay?
About 45 min now
About an hour easy drive.
Hey have you considered reporting on the development just east of Whittier village on A1? Something interesting getting developed there ..
Is it in Ocho Rios
@@droneviewja Montego Bay, at the foot or Ironshore and Coral Gardens.
One source said that it’s PriceSmart MoBay
Where is this? Down by the old Goodyear plant?
Yes
Why is there not even one church in the st Thomas urban centre?
Why would you put a church in a commercial/business centre?
