Blue Economy: Promise and Pathways for the Asia-Pacific

Asia-Pacific is the heart of marine biodiversity globally, native to a third of the world’s mangroves, seagrass beds and coral reefs. Home to many island and coastal countries, the Blue Economy fuels the Asia-Pacific region. As this economic powerhouse face unprecedented challenges, and with the missing link being financing options, UNDP Maldives and the Ministry of Economic Development & Trade co-hosted the first Asia-Pacific Blue Economy Forum in the Maldives in May. The Forum was convened by UNDP's Climate Finance Network (CFN), generously supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the UK.
