Just for the record... "surfing the internet" and finding people like Jocko, Goggins, Joe Rogan was how i helped myself find motivation to cultivate discipline. On days I "don't have any wanna" I watch 'Good', or listen to one of Jocko's podcasts with one of the hard MF's that he has on to share their story. To each their own, but find what motivates you to be better and chase that discipline until it provides freedom.
He probably means don't waste 4 hours a day looking at memes and countless youtube videos for hours on end. I struggle with that myself but when i found jocko and the others you mentioned i tend to watch less videos of higher quality that's worth my time
I bought that book. It's a great book, but frankly, you don't need it if you watch Jocko. Pretty much everything in the book I had already heard Jocko say, in random videos and on the podcast.

What sucks about the situation with disciplinary actions. It's the drive away from something. Like certain people.

I bought a Wood box online so I'll be able to start as a complete beginner to doing Burpee Box Jumps. On Tues. 12/18/18 I know by doing this strength exercise correctly with great form means: I will not be able to do a lot of reps all at once. It is better to do 1 - 5 reps then rest. Then a few hours later do another 5 reps. A few hours later do another 5 reps. Use correct form and do: * Pushups, Spiderman Push Ups * Modified Pull Ups * Modified Chin Ups * Lift 10 lb.. Kettlebells * Jump Rope * Jog & Walk (Repeat) * Do Crunches, Planks * Do Slav Squats * Do One Legged Squats (Like how I have seen video of Sonny Puzikas do them and work my way up to being able to do them like I saw him do)
We have heat, running water, toilets, electricity, air conditioning, public transportation, vehicles, and decisions to make about the actions and behaviors we take. We can choose to say we are going to or are doing something. Or...talk about what we are doing and have done. People can talk about enjoying things they do, have seen others do. While not taking necessary action to do things to help improve themselves. Or take action and do things that are extremely challenging to do...but will help you become: * Better * Stronger * Faster * Happier * More Satisfied * Healthier * Better Able To Enjoy Youraelf * More Confident * More Disiplined * Feel & Be Proud of Yourself * Be How You Want * Avoid Behaving Unhealthy
I'm Swedish. I'm from the most developed nation on earth. I got to play the most expensive sport that exists, and I got the best education I could possible get. And I still have my youth. I was born as lucky as you can possible get, but yet I whine. It's great to get some perspective.
Here's the thing: we need to stop saying "The internet is bad." No, it's how you use it. If you use TH-cam to learn a new skill, if you use the internet to teach yourself a programming language, if you use the Discovery Channel or National Geographic to relax, then you are NOT wasting time, you are increasing your value by learning (and applying) new skills. So, it's not black and white.

It is natural to be lazy as I told my own subscribers. But is it actually evil? It is--and not in a religious sense but a holistic sense. No matter what you believe to be a higher power or none at all we all know that laziness hurts you. It takes away from your physical health which deteriorates your mental health. Which in turn makes you want to not advance yourself. And years go by and suddenly you realize you are in a listless life. The midlife crisis usually avoids those who are in a state of physical healthy lifestyle and continuous progression. For the greatest evil is knowing that you aren't alive but merely existing. I need to stay hydrated and eat/drink more protein, eat vegetables like shiiatake mushrooms, carrots, green beans, broccoli, quinoa blueberries,raspberries, blackberries for carbs. For snacking with meals...I can have Sugar Free Jello, fresh fruit (but not fruits high in potassium). I will balance my potassium, eat enough protein correctly and stay hydrated! Made the mistake of getting dehydrated. Which caused me to get severe, painful. camping. Not fun 👎👎👎👎👎. A bad move. No more behaving that way! I'm done doing that.
my question is, i always eat a decent sized meal an hour and a half before working out and it always makes me feel stronger. how do i go on about working out first thing in the morning? should i eat something?

There are two types of freedom at least from a mental perspective . 1- external relative freedom . the ability to move ones body around without obstruction. 2- internal freedom . the ability to think and feel as you choose. In the deepest sense there is really only subjective freedom as objective freedom is always encountering obstacles. This is where the speakers so called discipline comes into play . Make order and have control over that order and one will experience freedom according to how far that field of order permeates into the relative field . This is fine if that’s all you want , but if there is a spark to experience a deeper freedom then begin to investigate into the source of both the external aspect of freedom and the source of the thinking and feeling. If successful one will discover that what is free is already free and even free from discipline . Real freedom is what we are, not as individuals but what the individual appears inside which is awake to itself.
I see your point but even for that you need the discipline to sit down and explore yourself, i mean take a budhistic monk they train both inside and outside so for me it makes sense to train both no matter what u say u need discipline to train your inside and outide so it all comes back to discipline equals freedom :)

IF the goal is to transcend thinking and action then the practice must have to ability to transcend its own activity , otherwise the practice becomes a subtle obstacle to realizing that which the practice is appearing inside of as consciousness awake to itself. The initial discipline it takes to sit down and close the eyes and begin to stop , 😂 should cease once the initial conditions for practice/ meditation is completed. Any continued effort or discipline at that point would create a subtle activity in the mind thus preventing the realization of the wholeness that the practice is appearing in . This is a VERY difficult subject to discuss in writing , so ,thanks for the excellent reply . 🙏

David Denis I just wake up and work out. You're unlikely to be in a weakened state from less than a 16 hour fast. Dinner will carry you through.

My thoughts exactly. I try to use TH-cam for the motivational and science stuff. I wouldnt discovered Jocko without TH-cam. Just all about moderation
