Hi Des, I hope you‘re doing well, after seeing the last video, I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate all your videos. You inspired me to start reading again. Sending you lots of love ❤
I don’t know if it counts as a thriller but I’m not really a thriller/mystery girlie and absolutely ADORED in my dreams I hold a knife so would recommend you try that next!
You make me smile… I love this concept and I appreciate you being a “tough” rater. The roof work at the beginning was hilarious and could have been spooky effects.
Indie books have that genuine author feel… it hasn’t been passed along from editor to editor to publisher to agent lol… Indie authors can be unfiltered ❤
I loved The Inmate, I gave it 5 stars ⭐️ sad you didn’t enjoy it but I think you’d probably like Never Lie by her if you wanted to give Frieda another shot
love all your videos so much! hope you are continuing the vlogs! i started watching you bc of your book videos but now i’m even enjoying the vlogs more because i LOVE your personality, your talking etc. (still enjoying the book videos tho)
Oh my goodness, hello Destiny! This is my first time commenting on one of your videos, but I just wanted to say hi and that I love your videos. With someone who also deals with anxiety, burn out, and depression (and also loves to read) you're such a light in the darkness. You make my day when you post and I'm just so happy when I watch your videos. I feel like I'm watching a friend talk about all of their loves and worries. You're such a great content creator and you're an even better person. Thank you for being such a joy in my life, a splash of sunshine. Thank you so much! Keep up the great work and make sure you take care of yourself as well. You matter the most. We're all here for you. Love you Destiny! Love, Ashley :)
which ones are ur favs?? i've read housemaid and the housemaid's secret, never lie, the locked door, and the inmate. I really didn't like the locked door or the inmate but really enjoyed the first 3 books i listed. have you read any other ones by her you recommend?
@@yukicious2080 I haven’t read very many of her books but I have read the housemaid series. I really liked it. I’ve also read The Inmate, Ward D and One by One. Those last 2 had pretty good and unsuspecting plot twists imo. I’m also planning on reading her new book The Coworker.
I've only read One by One but I really liked it. It reads really fast and I honestly felt more like I was watching a movie than reading a book for some reason? I guess because the pace was fast.
It never surprises me when people that loved The Housemaid say they’re disappointed by a lot of Frieda McFadden’s other books because The Last Mrs Parrish, a book with a near identical plot to The Housemaid, came out 5 years earlier 👀 👀
Your accent was closer to a London accent than a Liverpudlian/Scouse accent. I haven’t read many books written by authors from my own home town but I’m now interested in reading Wrong Place, Wrong Time.
I can never recommend writing fantasticfiction as a web address enough as it is a great database of fiction authors/book series. You can also pick genres including thrillers 😊
You know those posts where people are like “If you liked INSERT POPULAR FANTASY BOOK, you should read these” welllll i think you should do a video reading those books recommended to tell us if they’re actually as good as / similar to the book they’re recommended for
When I was reading the turn of the key, I thought it was so incredibly good. Like the small plot twist was so well written. It tells you multiple times throughout the book and you never notice. Same with the big one, but the unreliable narrator part made it harder. And then the very very end killed me, like bro, no way that happened
I've read all but the Riley Sager. 100% agree on The Inmate but I really liked The Housemaid. 4 stars for Flicker in the Dark and 3 for Turn of the Key. Thanks for the video!
It's so funny how you read "Wrong Place Wrong Time" in this video because I literally just finished it yesterday.😅 I ended up giving it a 3.75/5. I thought it was fine, but I agree with you when you said it doesn't read like a thriller. I felt like it was more magical realism with a hint of mystery. Oddly enough I acutllay didn't like her writing for this book; it was too mundane for and not even suspense. And the ending, to me, was very disappointing. I also read a Ruth Ware book this month too ("The It Girl"). It was my first book by her and based on what you were saying earlier I think she just might be a slow burn thriller author because "The It Girl" was also very slow (it's over 400 pages, I believe). And I think I rated "A Flicker In The Dark" the same as you did. I actually did guess the plot twist and I totally agree with you that it wasn't really suspenseful. It read more like a mystery.
I totally agree with your thought process. My fav thrillers don't really build up to major plot twist, but are simply more "thrilling" throughout the plot. I'm constantly at the edge of my seat. Taylor Adams does that really well, I love his books. I recently picked up Hairpin Bridge by him from my library. So far so good :)
I 100% recommend anything by Natasha Preston specifically The Lake it’s so good and another is She’s Too Pretty to Burn by Wendy Heard it’s my favorite book!
Yayyy!!! Another videooo!!! trying to get into thrillers lately so this came at the perfect time!! Also, where did you get that mauve/purple-ish color hoodie???? I love it!!!!
Excited to get into mystery/thrillers next szn cause I’m currently into fantasy/dystopian rn but right after I finish songbirds and acotar I’m gonna start billy summers and good girl’s guide to murder, I’m soo excited
DES PLEASE READ “HOUSE OF HOLLOW” not only is the cover gorgeous but the story is so creepily unique and a book that has stayed with me and i need to hear your thoughtssss
Hi des, you mentioned in the last pod that your mic was being weird and I couldn’t tell if it was yours or Sara’s but now in this video it’s definitely yours! There’s a super high pitched squeal when you speak into the podcast mic at the beginning!
i also gave the inmate 2 stars, so i’m glad i’m not the only one! the FMC was soooo annoying to me. like girl… let’s make some better choices. she seemed so gullible and like no thoughts behind her eyes. the epilogue was what made me give it 2 stars instead of 1!
I love these type of videos because I have been having a hard time finding a good thriller. Glad to see some reading being done ^_^. Hope your doing well.
The Netflix series “The Haunting of Bly Manor” is based of off “The Turn Of The Key.” I haven’t read the book, but the Netflix series was good!🤷🏻♀️You may want to watch it and compare.🙂
What an amazing video ❤. It made my hole day. You should read winter water by Susanne Jansson a mystery about children that get missing the exact same day but decades apart. Continue the great work 🎉
Hahaha you practicing saying ‘alright’ in the least scouse (Liverpool) accent ever is sending me 😂 pleaseeee look up the accent and give us a go at it in your next vlog. Loving the video so far 💖💖
one thing I realized about thrillers is that I HATE when is written in second person, I feel like it takes away from the suspense the "you you you", I read the quiet tenant and omg so boring, no thriller at all, and it's the second "thriller" book that i've read in this month that is supposed to be a thriller but it's not
@@carolitoffanaOkay, I read it like a few months ago in November, I believe and I most definitely agree with you! I love thrillers but I gave it 2.75. One of the worst thrillers I've ever read.🤧
Des!! If you’re in a thriller mood again you should really pick up an Ashley Winstead book! Either In my dreams I hold a knife or The Last Housewife! I read them back to back and they were some of my fave books of 2022 🥰💫🫶🏼
I was literally hoping one of the book girlies would post today so I could be happy!! Thank you Des!!!!
Let me guess...Haley ,Sara or Destiny...❤🎉
I’m so happy Destiny posted! She must knew I was having a bad day
me too girl

Wrong place is really well written. I listened to it and before I reached the ending I went back to listen again. It’s fascinating.
Hi Des, I hope you‘re doing well, after seeing the last video, I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate all your videos. You inspired me to start reading again. Sending you lots of love ❤
just want to say you inspired me to start reading in the beginning of august when i found ur channel and now ive read five books this month💕
I don’t know if it counts as a thriller but I’m not really a thriller/mystery girlie and absolutely ADORED in my dreams I hold a knife so would recommend you try that next!
Your intros are always top tier. Your creativity and editing will forever be one of my faves. Love all your content ❤️❤️❤️
You make me smile… I love this concept and I appreciate you being a “tough” rater.
The roof work at the beginning was hilarious and could have been spooky effects.
i went on an alice feeney binge this month + this video makes me want to read more thrillers
That was exactly how I felt with Final Girls, that Sager made the female MC so unrealistically naive and it seemed off to me
Indie books have that genuine author feel… it hasn’t been passed along from editor to editor to publisher to agent lol… Indie authors can be unfiltered ❤
I loved The Inmate, I gave it 5 stars ⭐️ sad you didn’t enjoy it but I think you’d probably like Never Lie by her if you wanted to give Frieda another shot

I'm so excited for this video! The thumbnail looks amazing like always!
There are books by Freida McFadden that are better than the inmate. Don’t let that one sway your opinion on her.
