      @William Perri Having watched too many Holywood movies, I have to imagine the both of us standing on a huge stage opposite of each other, playing on some gigantic combat Taikos sweating & shouting like crazy. That's how every drum battle should be actually... 😀

      If you want bigger ride, you should take td27 kv2, flagship hi hat, flagship 18’’ ride and 14’ snare, only the floor tom its smaller but you can easily upgrade it. And that 3 pieces are digital pads, that means you will have positional sensing.😃

    What is the best triggering between VAD307 and DTX8K? Impossible for me to trying side by side (too far away from drumtec… and music store in my town don’t have this two drumkits in stock!)…! Ralph you are one of the best drummer in the world!

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much Mike :) Triggering/playability is great on both kits, yet Roland is superior (especially on hh controller, cymbals & Snare). Yamaha has some great sounds on the module though, yet sound preferences are really subjective.
      You might upgrade the VAD307 with a nice 18" drum-tec diabolo series Real Feel bass drum for much more authentic playing feel/rebound and way less noise than with the Roland KD-180L:

      @jakenord5027 ปีที่แล้ว

      I own the VAD307 and previously owned the predecessor to the TD-17, which is very similar. I would say the pads on the VAD are a significant upgrade. It feels like you are playing on an acoustic kit.

  • @laotzu1111
    @laotzu1111 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It would be nice to see the dynamic range of the kit... everything played was like 1000% attack lol I think all electric kits sound nice, the value in them comes from their dynamic range and sensor ability.

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, many of the new V2 firmware kits are indeed very rock and/or electronic sounding, so a lot of those kits didn't feel like playing subtle / low dynamic styles to me.
      Yet, for example the "Warm Jazz" kit at 1:49 gives a pretty comprehensive overview of dynamic range & subtle articulations, that the TD-17 module & VAD307 pads are able to deliver.
      Kind regards!

    As I understand it the new crash cymbals are thinner and can be choked, as well as the ride which was not possible with the 306 thicker version? Also the new ride is 3 zoned and the old one was only two? Aside from the hardware and the new thinner slicker crash cymbals and three zone ride is there anything new? Does the module on the 307 come with the forthcoming update?

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Diego, the older cymbals already had the choke function & the 13" had three zones too. The new ride is 14" and both cymbals have a thinner profile (like the CY-16R-T and CY-14C-T), that I really like.
      The older models feel kind of "bulky" in comparison, I think the thinner ones play more realistic. All new TD-17 based kits (TD-17KV2, TD-17KVX2 and VAD307) come with the TD-17 Gen.2 update. Kind regards!

      Hi Tristan, the tom/cymbal stands are included yes. You'll find more info on the kit here:

    The two worst thing on this kit is the ride, especially the bell, and module. Having coming up on my 6 month of owning this kit, i feel I should of got the 506-507 Series or a Yamaha

      Yamaha has worse triggering on the cymbals, snare and hh.
      You can buy a Zeitgeist 18" ride cymbal with decent bell sensitivity $170?
      Or you can save some more money again and buy a lemon 18". $70ish
      And if you want the best triggering and bang for your buck you can buy a 20" ride cymbal from unlock jaws.
      $199

    Wow...all these years since I sold my TD-10 and I still think Roland drums sound like glorified casio keyboards. Would have thought by now things would have changed.

      Roland has a more diverse audience than Efnote does. Roland has players of hard rock, punk rock, metal and everything in between. The sounds are more processed but they have a satisfying oomph to them. Efnote is better for the softer genres of jazz or blues, even rock n roll, where there’s some more finessed playing going on. And if you take the time to fine tune your own custom kit you can make something sound less processed and more dynamic on the Roland. Efnote however gives you little to no editing at all, you’re stuck with what they provide.

      Roland had the market cornered for years, charging premium prices for products they put little effort into improving. It's taken competition from the likes of ef-note for them to wake up.

    I love Roland cymbal sounds but I hate Roland snare and tom sounds.
    I like Yamaha snare and tom sounds but Yamaha cymbals sound a little bit too "weak" to my ears.
    Wish I could mix the best of the two worlds!

    It would be crazy to say these don't sound great. But does anyone agree that the high-hats on all of these kits sound....bad....? They sound tinny, like cheap drum machine. The rest of the kit is awesome. But the hats are stopping me from buying.

    The TD-17 unfortunately has terrible sounding snares despite having decent sounding everything else. Version 2 seems like a welcome improvement, but still not wonderful snare choices.

    I'm beyond disappointed in Roland at this point. Are these the best acoustic sounds this module has??? It's one thing to not have thousands of kits (which is a trend now), at this price point. Its' something else entirely to have NO kits that sound good. Every sound I heard in this video sound synthetic, and overprocessed. The bell sounded decent. Is this module truly that bad??? Or, did the player pull up sounds thinking it was showing off the various samples this module offers? Exactly, how much money has to be spent to get a very good feeling, good sounding 5pc electronic kit for silent practicing?

    And still no real acoustic sounds when is roland gonna change this?we want real acoustic tom sounds without the machine gunning!!!better cymbal and hihat sounds like efnote, its time Roland to come up with a better sound module that sounds better then the new Efnote line up. They are on the top of edrums why can’t they make an good acoustic sounding drummodule???
