    I'm pretty blown away by the print quality on these figures, definitely feels like the quality we got all those years ago in the original lotR sets.

    • @DEVILTAZ35
      @DEVILTAZ35 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wish Star wars was that good. Obviously different places do the printing with different priorities. They know people will buy Star wars whether or not the quality sucks. Where as Lord of the Rings is still more niche compared to Star Wars so perhaps they just put that extra effort in for that reason.

    Terrific review, thanks so much! Loved seeing the actual size with the tape measure. One tiny thing I'm still wondering: what is the actual depth of the model, or in other words, how deep does a shelf need to be to display it?

    • @thatwasweird954

      I've watched review after review, looking for that exact question to be answered. That's my biggest hesitation with this set -- wondering if there's a bookshelf it can actually fit on. Or if, when the three parts are separated, there's some way to position it, so it can fit on a normal shelf.

  • @VeraLucille
    @VeraLucille ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Everything they did here was done beautifully, probably the best Lego set of all time, from the best film series of all time, but to come so close to perfection, a few things really bug me.
    I just wish the main building was a bit more condensed, and everything less spread out. It would have been great to get a little bit more verticality to the landscape to really sell that we're not looking at somewhere flat. Like if the waterfall could have kept going lower... would have been easier to display as well because it wouldn't need so much space horizontally. Would have been nice to have at least one more tree between the two sections in the background, and a bit fluffier leaves on the trees all around. If you look at the "Gazebo" scene in the movie, they're in full on forest.
    Then how there are stickers... there and back again is not red... The river being so BRIGHT blue...
    For $500 I wish I didn't have as many things I'd want to change.

    12:01 - The sword that Aragorn is holding is not "Anduril." Instead, it is Aragorn's ranger sword.

    Offensive that Lord of The Rings, the movie with every location being an immediately 'wantable' place from Isengard to Osgiliath, gave some very pitiful sets. I have beef with that Orthanc, much like with the master collectible versions of the smaller starwars ships, Lord of the Rings needs to make an accurate sized Isengard and Orthanc. Hear me out
    For the base, have it be around 3 feet across (that might be too large), have the entire circle pavilion of Isengards including the wall surrounding the inner area. I think what is best is for there to be a multifunctional set design where one contains Isengard before its poisoning, and then Isengard in its ruined glory. But that isn't the main issue. It's that tower, The Orthanc was done so poorly in Lego, and needs to be atleast 1/40th scale, not 1/60th like it is in the set. That Orthanc tower is unacceptable, absolutely awful looking.

    As good as this is, I'm a bit disappointed that they couldn't capture more of Rivendell for $500. At that price point, I figured the set would have multiple buildings and feel like an actual small city, but instead it's basically just one building and an area off to the side.

    Thank you for doing a detailed review showing all the removable parts, with closeups of the minifigs. The modular layout leaves a great strategy for people who want to buy 2. The second Fellowship and whole gazebo pavilion can be setup as a small-scale display with the second set of minifigs. You'd then have a mega size display, and a modular portable setup that fits on a work desk. The tough part is building the "other side" of Rivendell and matching the roof & tower, figuring out what to do with the second Fellowship platform. And the cost. Who's got $1,000 for an epic, convention level setup built from 2 off-the-shelf sets? Like many things, worth it but unaffordable.

    Great review. May I ask how this compare to the Lion Knights Castle and which will be recommended? Thanks in advance

      Can they be compared? I have Lion Knights Castle and will buy this - they seem different experiences. One is for my own castle adventures, the other is about reenacting scene from LOTR

      @AlanKlement thanks for the reply. In my opinion, the LOTR set is more of a display set while the Lion Knight is more of a playset. However, I'm on a limited budget so I can only choose 1.

      @@teozhongyu5736 I bought the Lion Knights castle and it is a really fantastic set. There are so many nice play features there (as you said) and it looks great as well. Every time I look at it, it puts a smile on my face! But the LOTR Rivendell set also looks fantastic. If I had the room for it (both physically and budget-wise) I would probably buy that one as well.

      @@teozhongyu5736 Both of these sets will be out for awhile. So if you wanted to buy one this year and buy the other next year.

      @NisseHult101 appreciate the advice. I for one think that both will look gorgeous and in scale next to each other. And am very tempted to commit that amount of money.

    Never ever will this set be worth 500$. If it was 300$ I would maybe start to think of buying it. But 500 is just beyond insane.

      It is a really large set though. Much better than the silly Lion Castle or whatever it is.

    what should I do for a lego stop motion.

    An instant classic. This will end a lot of Lego dark ages. Being modular means easier to display or you can have a different module in different rooms to enjoy. A masterpiece. It's a great competition between official set designers and the best moc builders, the results are scintillating.
