I saw Rubinstein when he came to Australia (his second visit) at the Sydney Town hall. As you rightly say he was a colossus. He spoke eight languages and was really a fabulous technician (when he was young) if you get a chance listen to his early recording of Tchaikovsky 1 and also his early recording of Brahms 2 -they are different to his later recordings (excellent as are). Of course his early Chopin recording were made before editing was was possible. Truly a wonderful musical giant of his time .
Very beautifully made artistic Music arthouse movie in the Rubinstein Tradition, from Father to Son the talent goes. Rubinstein was in my youth my Chopin hero. I bought all his LPs. They were a great sample how to play it all. Thank you Arthur!
The last time Rubinstein came back to Poland was 1979 not 1977. You can find a documentary about that visit and he was saying there 'I'm only 92' to his Polish friend. Anyway great video about my favorite pianist!
Muchas Gracias.

We are all supposed to be a blessing to the world but we all fall short in our own expectations of each other!
