    What he failed to mention is you compromised head room when you have a moonroof. Get the car without a moonroof you add head room

    Hybrids are not prone to be good bank robbery vehicles...lol. I just bought one, best of all I test droved from other manufactures. A classy, cushy & quiet ride.

    I've had my 2010 Fusion Hybrid, fully loaded up for 6 years and 122000 miles, averaging 42.6mpg life time on the old NIMH batteries. There was a break in period though and I learned quickly how to adjust my driving to the hybrid style. Over time, you just get used to it. I absolutely love the car and has been bullet proof reliability wise. Now that I have a taste though, I'm really looking at the 2016/2017 Chevy Volt for the full electric experience. It'd be nice to have a vehicle that truly uses electric first, then gas rather than gas, then electric as these standard hybrids do

      There's always that Ford Fusion Energi, too. Would you consider that option as a plug-in hybrid? Thanks for watching and weighing in with your experience, Jake.

  • @Trades46
    @Trades46 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    An interesting addition is the Fusion Energi model. With a 7.6kWh battery you can in theory do 35km on pure EV mode and the price increase is only about ~$3000 more, which if you live in Ontario (the plate implies) means the govt. subsidy will actually make that a cheaper car to buy than the Hybrid.
    The only real sacrifice would be trunk capacity, which may or may not be a big issue depending on how you use the car. In my eyes, with the ever increasing amount of charging stations available & gas prices only will ever go up, it is a no brainer.

    Good review! I also test drove the 17 Fusion Titanium and end up got the Sonata Hybrid Ultimate. Sonata got all the Fusion (and many other hybrid mid sizes) issues fix; traditional trans instead droning CVT, big back seat, full flat trunk and decent feel and looking materials. Long warranty with lifetime battery warranty help too. I also test drove Prius nothing would beat the gas mileage and practicality (maybe the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq'/Kia Niro? ) but it is just too slow and noisy. In Sonata at least it feel fast enough once I switch to the power mode. Having said that Sonata do hate cold weather; with the weather just dip under 50F and with winter blend gas the average mpg drop from 42 to 37 and power train seem less refine. That is without using heat (just heated seat and steering). i wonder how much lower would get when temp drop under 30F. Our old CT200h doesn't react so dramatic.

      Interesting. Thanks for writing, Kevin. We found the cooler weather really affected fuel economy with the Fusion as well.

    I own a 2017 Ford Mondeo Hybrid Titanium X, which is the Fusion European sister model. In the summer it awerage approx. 55 mpg mostly on 15 minutes commuting to and from work and nearby shopping. In the winter 45 mpg due to freezing cold temperatures make the electric motor kick in much later. On long distanse cruising with 3 adults and weekend luggage, it use 75 mpg. All in Eco mode, which make the trottle response slightly slower and el motor kick in earlier than in normal mode. If fuel economy are pri 1, that's not an issue. But even in normal mode it use about the same fuel figures and less than my small Suzuki I had.
    The only "downside" in my opinion, are that going from a manual gear stick and manual hand break to a eCVT gear, electric regenerating and electric hand break when it is really wet snow/slush or wet ice. I feel I loose some control on the slippery surface, but by slowing down when driving downhill, in bends, near crossroads and in rush traffic, It is easier to handle. It's about adjusting to another driving style.
    But all in all it offers good comfort and good milage, and that's my first pri 90% of my driving.

    Hi, very good content this! Good family car tests are hard to find these days.
    Do you have a possibility to do the new Audi A4 avant? I would appreciate that very much.
    Keep up the good work!

    I disagree with this man. Maybe the cars are different in the USA than in Canada, but my Fusion energi is luxurious, and completely high-end.

  • @DailyRealness
    @DailyRealness 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The trunk is a real deal breaker to me. If they make Fusions/Mondeos hatchbacks in Europe there is no reason for them not to make them hatchbacks in the US. What's more is why haven't they figured out how to make the battery pack a flat one. I'd rather lose a few inches of depth overall than lose that huge chunk in the back.

    I regret buying it. I got the 2017 hybrid se and I regret it. I use the same amount of gas I would use on my 2005 scion tc. the engine also doesn't stay on ev mode after you go a certain amount of mph.

    • @FamilyWheels
      @FamilyWheels  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, there are some shortcomings with this vehicle. Can you tell us more about what sort of fuel economy you're seeing? How does it perform in the cold for you? I found the fuel economy very poor when it was cold. Thanks for writing. Helpful info.

    • @cheeriomartinez
      @cheeriomartinez 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I purchased this vehicle Around september. I have been driving it for over two months. During the mornings, when it is cold here in california around 68 degrees Fahrenheit, the car engine automatically starts up. It does this to warm up the car. But thats understandable. Now what i dont get is why the car cant stay on Electric Mode when i accelerate. Its like you have to be really gentle with the gas pedal when starting from a stop. You have to slowly push on the gas pedal and it will slowly get your car going. It will be impossible to drive this car purely on electric mode. Oh and another thing. The cars windows constantly reset. I would roll my windows down during the day, then when i would get in my car i would roll them up and they would "Bump" into something and then go all the way down. You have to reset it each time and its a pain. Specially when it starts to day and you cant roll up your windows up.

    • @jake1110
      @jake1110 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's too bad. The only way you'll ever be able to fully accelerate on electric will be with a plug-in Energi model or other full EV vehicle. These hybrids are meant to accelerate on gas and then glide longer on electric. That's how the system works. Surprised it uses gas at 68 degrees though. In Iowa, it has to be around freezing for me to get stuck in gas only mode for extend periods of time. My ideal MPG happens between 50 - 80 farenheit. I have the 2010 model myself

    • @FamilyWheels

      "Better" is pretty subjective. Certainly Honda loyalists would say so. Personally, I think the Fusion looks more interesting but it's pretty darn sluggish.

      Well, the Accord will give you better fuel economy (5.1 L/100 kms) and it has Apple Carplay/Android Auto, which a lot of people like. I don't like the CVT in the Accord as much, however.
