Description:
4 minutes and 4 seconds faster than the previous record.
Episode 4 doesn't see a lot of activity, so that explains most of the time saved. At least another minute can be saved here, my E1 max was only about a minute off the recent keyboard only TAS while this one is 3 minutes off, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's 2 minutes to be saved. Too far away from sub 17 though so I'm happy with under 18 minutes. Cannot recall any of my times or what my best practice attempt was, so not sure what a good time on each level is, besides route could be significantly better.
20/22 secrets on E4M3 and 2/4 secrets on E4M7 are max.
E4M1: I got super bored of this level after a few attempts, it's not too difficult and I almost beat the IL in one of my attempts with this somewhat safe route, but having to wait so long until you find out if the barons will gather up or not is no fun, so about 15 seconds lost already.
E4M2: Fun map, lots of BFG to clear everything out quickly. Very far behind the IL record though, most of it explained by conserving cells, but all the weapon switching to rockets cost a lot.
E4M9: I think I spent more time routing this level than all the other levels combined, there's just so many options with where to go first and how to move through the level without leaving anything wandering around. You're also in this really interseting situation where you have lots of lower tier monsters while having no bullets, but you also have the plasma rifle and the BFG. Now ideally you wouldn't want to waste cells with the plasma when you can deal so much more damage with the BFG, but I think using plasma rifle is good here. There is one 50 bullet pack on this level, but I ended up skipping it with this route.
E4M3: Don't think the baron telefrag is worth it, should just be more careful with my rocket management. Awful BFG one those barons, expected it to do more damage on the second one. Whole runthrough was a disaster, don't think anything went well here, at least 20 seconds lost. No idea how I kept missing that last baron, I knew the spectre would be close, but I'd be fine with ending the run here.
E4M4: A very simple level, usually always get similar times and nothing interesting happens. Should use rockets at the start instead of the BFG since you're waiting for the lift anyways.
E4M5: Really needed to route/practice this level more, of the few attempts I had that got here I bet they all had mistakes through the entire level. Decided to go with a double BFG to deal with 1 cacodemon at the start because I don't want to chaingun him or wait for him to get close, completely missed the second BFG for some reason, no idea what I was doing there. Only happy it wasn't a complete disaster again.
E4M6: I made this level look difficult, but it helps a lot when I know my time isn't great up to this point and I can just do exactly what I think is fastest without really worrying if I die. I'd say my ammo management isn't optimal, but I did end up with 0 bullets, 0 rockets and 2 cells before getting those cells and rockets near the end, so maybe it was.
E4M7: I don't really have much of a plan for the last area, just rocket stuff whenever you notice it and hope everything ends up dead somehow. I forgot to fire a rocket towards the opposite end by the bridge switch, sometimes the shotgunner there doesn't wake up if the elevator is down. If that happens you'd have to jump down and go up that elevator which would cost way too much time. The start of this level wasn't good, but I think I got lucky with the ending honestly so I'm happy with it.
E4M8: So much ammo and health that you can do whatever you want, I lose several seconds to taking things way to slow to make sure everything is dead.
Overall the episode I spent the least amount of time on, but it has a lot of fun levels. - เกม

Makes sense. The say TAS goes beyond the "Human" limit, but no one ever mentions the ZeroMaster Limit.

To me it's not the movement but pellet distribution; every rocket deals maximum splash damage possible and every bfg tracer counts. It's insane how smooth those shots are. So soothing. Great stuff!
Dude can finish a whole episode in the time it takes me to find a switch.
At this rate i wouldn't be surprised if you UV-Max the entire doom series in 3 hours.

hi zero master, ever considered doing a playtrough of ps1 doom? it was my first doom i got and i beat so i would love to see some pro gameplay of my favorite port by the master himself
First two levels of this episode are very rough without specific map knowledge
Tell me about it. Recently I tried this Episode for the first time and second level made me rage quit. Specifically that part when a baron spawns in front of you and 3 additional ones spawn behind you even on HMP difficulty which I usually play on. This is actually part of the reason why I searched for a speedrun to see how it can be done.

Wouldn't it be faster in some doom 2, plutonia and tnt nightmare speedruns to let some demons/spectres get close to you and start their attack animation and THEN attack with the super shotgun versus praying for rng? Since when they are in attack range to melee you they stop movement it seems like it would go faster to run into them with the super shotgun and 1 hit them instead of relying on the damage rng

I alwats wondered, in % how much of your gameplay is previously strategized and how much is purely game awareness and feeling?
well in this case for example E4M4 it's basically 100% strategy, while for E4M6 I'm low on ammo and not sure how it's going to play out, but I still follow the exact route I have in mind, just have to use whatever I have at that moment and hope I can keep it on track.. if I'm unable to continue (I know following the route isn't going to work because ammo or health issues) then restarting is really the only option as the time loss would be too big or it would just look really ugly.
Of course a lot of random things can happen during a run, like the barons on E4M3 here just refused to die so I have to figure out what to do.. so I'd say at least 90% strategy maybe, no idea.
Textures: irrelevant. Soundtrack: legendary. Gameplay: Gob-like.

Did Zero Master play Doom 3?
When you have nothing to do, why not doing UV-MAX with 100% items?
It's complicated, some items are off bound for episode 4. Also, the 100% items depend on the amount of items you have in your inventory. For instace, say you are not full at plasma cells (which is 300 normally and 600 with backpack), how are you gonna know where the last plasma cell is or if there even is plasma cells left on the map? And even if there are some left, if you inventory is full that is gonna count as 100% which is not really REALLY 100%. Now multiply all that for all of the guns, I mean you really gotta have nothing else to do.
BigMacDavis already has videos for this kinds of things but his videos are planned out in advance and he knows roughly how much he is gonna waste and where he is gonna pick the items. In speedrun there is too much shit going on because the focus is to finish the game as fast as possible and 100% items are a completely unstable variable in most cases. I tried to do 100% items once, it's a pain in the ass I'll never go through again.
