  • New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen interview from 2024 Saints OTAs on Tuesday, May 21 at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
    #saints #nfl #otas #neworleanssaints #saintsotas
    What are NFL OTAs?
    NFL teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or "OTAs". No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.
    When do OTAs start in 2024?
    OTAs begin for most NFL teams on May 20, 2024 and run over a 3-week period.
    Saints Offseason Schedule 2024
    ---------------------------
    Saints First Day: April 15
    Saints Rookie Minicamp: May 10-12
    Saints OTA Offseason Workouts: May 21-23, May 28-30, June 3-6
    Saints Mandatory Minicamp: June 11-13
    Voluntary offseason workout programs are intended to provide training, teaching and physical conditioning for players. The calendar for 2024 is below.
    As per Article 21 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, each club's official, voluntary nine-week offseason program is conducted in three phases:
    Phase One consists of the first two weeks of the program with activities limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only.
    Phase Two consists of the next three weeks of the program. On-field workouts may include individual or group instruction and drills, as well as "perfect play drills," and drills and plays with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, conducted at a walk-through pace. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.
    Phase Three consists of the next four weeks of the program. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or "OTAs". No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.
    Article 22 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement stipulates that clubs may hold one mandatory minicamp for veteran players. This minicamp, noted below, must occur during Phase Three of the offseason program.
    New head coaches are entitled to conduct an additional voluntary veteran minicamp. Any voluntary minicamp for veteran players must be conducted prior to the NFL Draft (April 25-27), but no earlier than week three of the club's offseason workout program and after at least one week of the two weeks of Phase One activities that the clubs may hold pursuant to Article 21. This year, eight clubs will hold voluntary veteran minicamps, as noted below.
    Each club may hold a rookie football development program for a period of seven weeks, which in 2024 may begin on May 13. During this period, no activities may be held on weekends, with the exception of one post-Draft rookie minicamp, which may be conducted on either the first or second weekend following the draft. The dates of each club's post-draft rookie minicamps will be circulated at a later date.
    For specific information and detailed offseason program rules, please see Articles 21 and 22 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, available on nflcommunications.com.

    I’m so proud of Equalizer DA. He got rid of MT Bricks and Don’t Listen Winston and No Clue Carmichael, and despite the silly fans saying nobody wants to play or coach for DA, he seems to get whatever player and coach he wants.

      @@marcust-kq4cv Yea. It might be corny. But maybe it might help to wake up the silly “fans.” My dad used to have nicknames for people. I have that gift too. It’s evolving. I used to say some Saints fans think Brees walked on water, and thought, why not nickname him Walk on Water Brees, and it just went from there.

    New offensive line coach, new offensive coordinator. Let these guys do what they do best. Let them evaluate and make their own decisions. We needed to start over anyway.

    Practice is practice. Although we’ve seen them waist a player’s talent with switching their positions. We’ve seen it with Baun, we’re seeing it with Alonte, and hopefully they don’t continue this trend with Fuaga. Nothing is wrong with having versatility but if a player greatest strengths are not being fueled, then they are being wasted.
    Let Penning grow in this new scheme where he’s played his entire career. This new offense will help him because he’s not having to hold up 5 seconds for the qb to get the ball out. Let Fuaga do what he do!
    I’m not hating on Allen because I’d rather have him calling our defense than almost anybody else in the league. Kubiak is here for OFFENSE OFFENSE OFFENSE! So all those that’s hating on Allen needs to understand that he Is our head coach and that’s not changing until it DOES. So get behind OUR TEAM, coaches included, and let’s put all the positivity possible into our team and see what happens! WHO DAT

    I dont believe Penning will be a starter. He might be starting right now during OTA's, but definitely not in games. They picked up free agents that have a huge amount of experience that will likely get the starting nod. Just my 2 cents.

    So we are moving Penning, a guy who has played at LT since coming to the NFL, to RT and Fuaga, a guy who has played RT his whole college career to LT. What could go wrong? I mean I get it, we don't trust Penning protecting the blind side, but you can't just move guys around like that. Some adapt better than others but you're undoubtedly losing something because they've spent years sharpening the technique on the other side and a lot of that technique doesn't translate super easily. It's similar to asking a right handed painter with years of experience to suddenly start painting left handed.

    • @marcust-kq4cv
      @marcust-kq4cv 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Which is why they are practicing it to see how it looks. As Allen said, it's not set in stone. If Fuaga doesn't look like he can handle to left then they will move him back. it's unfortunate that penning hasn't made enough improvement for them to trust him there.

      @simlucien 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Fuaga's college coach said the only reason he wasn't LT was they had an older guy in place and "you don't fix what isn't broken." Penning has a lot of playing time as a jumbo TE on both sides and spent a lot of time in college at RG. He also has a stupid high RAS.
      Both are athletes and we're told they're very smart, even by OL standards. I like the fresh start for Penning and Fuaga is another beast. And if it doesn't work well enough quickly enough, it's not set in stone. This is what practice is for, working things out.
