So crazy you made this video now because my endeavor for the last two weeks was to make a defensive deck (or at least 3) but i found hells chain and hells scythe are pretty good at defense. Hells chain 4-60 hexa is my new favorite its a counter attk DEMON and generally just takes hits Hells scythe on ball is my evasive type by late game it can just take whatever and outspin its opponent
In my opinion, the "sub-types" of Defense are essentially taking bits from either Attack or Stamina (or maybe even Balance in one instance) and incorporating it into a counter to another type in one way or another. Thus they would almost be themselves a sub-class of Balance type. Thus, in my opinion, the truest form of a Defense type is a heavy immovable tank (thus the Tank sub-type is the closest to what I would call the true Defense type) that has just enough recoil in its design to punish incoming attacks. I consider "evasion" as something under Stamina at this point since by nature the ball bit makes beys a tad more mobile, and they are assigned to Stamina. Thus, giving Stamina the evasion feature. Endurance obviously is a Stamina feature, but considering how Defense types were known to outlast Attack types, it is justified in why the endurance sub-class exists. Counter-attack is arguably just Attack on a Defense bit. Especially since most of the heaviest blades in Beyblade X are labelled as Attack type
An example of what I'm going for was the intended purpose of the design for Unicorn from early Beyblade Burst (the round one with the single extended spike)
Before ImpactDrake, I was hoping they could do “Rubber Defense” which is more effective in practice than “Rubber Attack.” I still think they can do it in the future but not so soon since ImpactDrake released.
Honestly, I think it’s better to have stronger attack types than stamina types. Wizard rod is really good and it makes battles a bit more boring. I think TT should buff Defense types and Balance types, keep attack types where they are, and make sure stamina types are not too heavy, and also have easier burst resistance. Defense should stand out from stamina types, by having less stamina & differently focused bits, however, they should have a medium burst resistance instead (some new resistance between attack and stamina, and the defense types should also be heavier, & not as round as stamina types, but also not as jagged as attack types
@Hungry1787 They can easily nerf attack types; the system is heavily favored toward them. 37-39-gram attackers are already overbearing. Balancing the system should have every type balanced with weight. Also, Rod is really not that overbearing anymore, considering how busted ImpactDrake is.
Knightshield was my very first bey, but I haven't used it a lot, the 3rd bey I got was Shinobi Shadow which I used in more than one tourney, a bit of a 50/50 bey on 1-80 Orb and 5-70 Gear Point. Now I'll do 9-60 Unite to see if it works.
I wish defense was better supported. Maybe if they released more defense oriented bits with some burst resistance like Hexa. My favorite defense bey is probably Knight Mail, i love the bulk and funny gimmick
It would have been interesting if they made various levels of burst resistance in the bits. It could’ve been none, low, medium, and high. How they would have accomplished it, I don’t know. Whether the levels should be type-locked or spread amongst them, I don’t know what would be better. I feel like this would help not only help the defense types, but could help bring some interesting customizations.
The problem with defense in this generation goes deeper than the fact we have no good defense types. The best we have is half-decent blades like leoncrest but that’s hardly s-tier like wizardrod or phoenixwing. The problem is that defense as a concept is just bad in this generation. Stamina is too good, all relevant stamina types have high defense which means that any defense type is just a worse stamina type, and attack types are much too powerful to allow a defense strategy to become consistent enough for meta relevance. However, I do think defense can survive, we just have to change the way we think about it. IMO wizard rod on level is a brilliant example of what defense should look like going forward, it needs more movement to avoid attacks and get out of the way of the x-line, stand-up capabilities and LAD to get outspins and upper attack / down smash to destabilize and beat stamina types, increasing cost of contact on the opponent while keeping its own at a manageable level. Another good example is tyranno beat on dot which was popular not long ago, and I think TB on bound spike may be the way to go forward. Good defense bits are stuff like point, bound spike, transpoint and level; hexa is a remnant of a version of defense that just doesn’t exist anymore
I feel defense would have to be heavier than everything, and also be unable to really be turned into an attack type with very little powerfull attack edges/points.
i think ball-shaped bit should be used for def cos it has more grip to the surface than needle, preventing it to get knocked out. so why stam bey outspin def if the bit are wrong? it's simply cos stam blades have better weight, owd, and needle is just too sharp bruh, making it easy to wobble and lost its own stam.
