  • This week we span many eras of baseball as we're joined by Former MLB CF Kenny Lofton and the young guns of MLB, Angels CF Jo Adell and Reds P Hunter Greene. The group talks about the difference in the game between now and when Kenny was a rookie in the early 90's. Kenny tells stories from his days in The Show including facing Pedro Martinez and locker room stories about Albert Belle. Jo Adell and Hunter Greene talk about social media and toeing the line when it comes to tweeting their opinions. That and more on this week's episode!
    All episodes were filmed in February prior to COVID-19 protocols being put in place.

    Just here to say that Kenny falling off the HOF ballot after one year is one of the greatest HOF travesties ever.

      I know right? Ichiro is a shoo-in for the hall, but they have very similar numbers
      Ichiro .311/.355/.402, 107 OPS+, 59.7 career bWAR
      Lofton: .299/.372/.423, 107 OPS+, 68.4 career bWAR.
      Had Lofton played a few more years, he probably would have had 3000+ hits as well.

    • @ethanricci8741
      @ethanricci8741 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It really is. I personally think Kenny is a HOFer. If you're a small hall guy I get leaving Kenny out but he had a much better Career than a lot of other borderline guys that got in.

    • @jameslmarsh
      @jameslmarsh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ethanricci8741 And as a smaller guy it matters that he excelled in the steroid era, where the "big boys" were getting so much more attention. He also played on better teams where Ichiro was the de facto face of a franchise for a decade.
      Perception is reality sad to say...

      Why would you "low key" wish that? You people sound like clowns using that word. No reason to be "lowkey" about it. Be loud. Make it known. Otherwise no one ever knows we want longer vids and they'll never get made that way. Be vocal about it. You ain't the only one. Some of like long format content.
      But no one will ever know that if you're scared to say so and instead use lowkey to wrongly describe it.

      MalakianM2S it was probably edited and got awkward. There is no way they’re eating a 3 course meal in 35 minutes. I also think that Kenny is full of it though. Kenny said that he would study pitchers tendencies (Pedro being nasty outside) so if you can study pitchers tendencies as far as location on top of knowing the pitch that’s coming that’s a huge advantage. Hitters today have all the film in the world, Kenny’s view is from when film was limited and filmed with a dinosaur of a set up.

    • @MalakianM2S

      @@Vt2CT 15:23, you may be right, kenny's voice ends abruptly, it may be edited; it's an unlucky cut anyways. His point of view on the peds is spot on, imho, I never underestood why Bauer & Co. think the peds are way below the trash can in "importance".

    Kenny Lofton! My favorite player growing up. I'll never forget when he was injured playing for the Braves vs the Phillies before this game started and he signed autographs literally all the way from near home plate down to the dugout. He must have signed 300-500 autographs that day. He even took a couple minutes and talked to my dad while signing and it stuck with me.

    When I was a kid, in 1995, I went to see the Blue Jays vs the Cleveland Indians at the Sky Dome in Toronto. After the game a guy who worked there told us to wait by a specific gate to get autographs from the Indians. We waited with about 10 other people and some players came out. I got an auto from Jim Thome and then Kenny Lofton came out. I handed him my piece of paper from my mom's purse and a pen and asked for an autograph. Just as he took it someone called to him. He turned to them and handed me back the paper and pen without signing. I was closer than he thought and he pushed me. I stumbled back into a taxi and fell on my back on the ground. My mom looked at me laughing and I dont know why but I said "Why Kenny! Why?!" and my mom lost it laughing so hard. I doubt he remembers this but I do and I think about it when I think about baseball and spending time with my mom.
    EDIT: This is a good memory. I was a fat kid with poor balance. Not Kenny's fault at all.

    • @Vt2CT
      @Vt2CT 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @Vt2CT
      @Vt2CT 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Saranjeet Sodhi also on top of that, he also commented on analytics and how the game now is driven by it. Did he think about the fact that pitchers know your weakness as a hitter? Say a pitcher knows your weak inside on a fastball, you then get the signal that a fastball is coming, you think the pitcher isn’t going to attack that zone?
