- An informative, spoiler-free, and easy to understand guide on why you should care about Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth! I was hesitant going into Q2, given that the original had loads of issues, but this game ended up being my favorite Persona spin-off to date.

I have a a question. Any tips on how to utilize Morgana well in this game? I love this little guy. He is my favourite Character from Persona 5, my favourite video game companion and my second favourite Mascot Character in all of fiction. I love him even more than Toothless and Stich.
So naturally he is never going to leave my party. I am in the second Labyrinth in my first play through on normal btw.
My guess is that I should try teaching him buff and de buff skills and let him support the team while the others bring the pain. I was just wondering if you have any tipps fore him.
I'm as casual as you can get, so I wouldn't know a damn thing what to do. :v
@@sofaris576 id mix him up with some healing and attacking movies. And defenitly have binds. They are extreamly broken in that game.
It's a damn shame this game won't get the attention it deserves thanks to leaks and the fact it's a 3DS game in 2019. Definitely deserves more attention. I bought the premium edition despite already having emulated both the Japanese and English releases to show my support.

You were definitely right on PQ2 being miles and leaps better than the original PQ. Almost all the problems from the first game were remedied and significantly improved in 2. I'm super happy that this game was able to be the swan song for the 3DS, what a great game to end a system. Can't wait for my premium edition in the mail!

I absolutely adored how they handled FeMC and tied her into the development of the story and its themes.
now if only Atlus realized that another Femc would be great. well we can always hope for P6 i suppose

I never liked PQ because I found the interactions very bleh and underwhelming/cringy but man PQ2’s dialogue between the different casts are soooo good and has a lot of character. The story separate from the whole persona fanservice aspect of the game is really good too.
Yeah, it was a huge surprise to me. I hope a Q3 gets made and they bring back these writers because they nailed it here

If they keep/bring in good writers like Akira Akemine, who's the new writer that replaced PQ's original, and Atsushi Kitajoh for the music going forward, I can only expect good things for future spin-off and possibly numbered titles as well. I can also look forward to P5 Arena/Ultimax if the rumors of the Guilty Gear Xrd engine being used are true.
Thank you for providing the name of the writer! I really hope Akemine comes back for P5 Royal or any other Persona spinoff. I was sad Kitajoh wasn't doing the OST for that but the new songs still sounds great.

I have Persona Q2 as a Physical 3ds copy and I'm enjoying it already, I might get Persona Q1 since I really can't bring myself to watch playthroughs of the game.
I'd say if you need more DRPG persona give it a shot when you're done with q2. It's nothing amazing, but its decent fun

To be honest, I had no intention of ever playing this game because of how mediocre Persona Q was, but your review has convinced me to at least give it a chance.

You won’t regret it, hang in there and you’ll be rewarded by an amazing story that only gets better late game as well as charming and hilarious character interactions

Just started playing yesterday and didn't put it down until I was trough with the entire first dungeon. It's unbelievable how big of a change it is from the first game. And I really love what they've done with the environments there. The dungeons feel much nicer than the first game's

Fantastic review! I was intending to get this anyway, if later, but now I'm so hyped up I might even buy it on release.
Never played the original PQ (heck, I don't even think I've ever seen a game box of it in real life) and I didn't give too much thought to the sequel because-- hey, it's from a spin-off I didn't play and I'm still slowly working my way backwards to learn about P4 and P3 respectively. But the art style looks cute and, once again, you sold me a game I've had my doubts on. Will try to hunt for this baby whenever I go out to buy video games !!!

I played the first one and I enjoy it even with the way the character were portray since I can always play the original games if I miss it so this one was an instant buy for me but hearing that's it's even better than the first one and improve a lot makes me hyped to get it tomorrow!

Actually, Persona Q was the first ever Persona game I have ever played. It’s what got me to fall in love with the P3 and P4 cast. Though, I do admit that Q2 is a lot better(also, the music is to die for, it’s so good!) Persona Q will always have a special place in my heart. It was the reason I got into the Persona series and I’m very happy it did.

I pre-ordered the game cos I really enjoyed the first one but, yeah, this one is so much better. I love the music from PQ1, P4 and 5 so much I bought the PQ2 soundtrack a couple of months ago. Playing the game this weekend with headphones on, it just sounds amazing. Love the way they've recreated P5's style for it. Hope it does well. I still use my 3DS a lot but I suspect the majority of people have moved on, which is a shame.

I still know people hated how the characters were portrayed in both this and Q1, but apparently that was intentional. Atlus Japan asked in a poll about what traits fans remembered the most in each character and they emphasized that trait for Q and Q2.
Honestly, I had decided to skip it because of how meh Persona Q seemed to me. This review has changed my mind.

Unfortunately I’m not into Etrian Odyssey style fp dungeon crawlers BUT everything you said about the soundtrack has me so, soooo tempted. This guy did the OSTs for the Trauma Center/Trauma Team games, as well as some previous Persona games... it sounds like they really went all out in that aspect. If nothing else, I might try and find the soundtrack, coz it sounds rad lol
Atsushi Kitajoh is one of my favorite composers because of his talent in versatility when choosing instruments. It themes the whole soundtrack and because you get to know the instruments so well you learn what to expect from them. One of my favorite soundtracks he worked on is Trauma Team because he managed to make those instruments work for 6 different medical professions and they still fit for each one. I still love Meguro's stuff though.
Edit: Your taste in music is awesome, thanks for the heart. Listening to that new Lotus Juice track was a real joy in one of your recent streams. Alongside Kitajoh and Meguro, Ryota Kozuka is a great composer too if anyone didn't know, and he's been on the MegaTen/Persona ride as much as those two have. Atlus is really lucky to have those talented guys composing music for them all these years, it's almost hard to not take it for granted with such continued success as the Persona series.

This is a great video. Persona Q2 really is an absolute gem of a game, and that doubly for it's story. The menu's aren't the only things emulated from P5 the general spirit of the game as well the Phantom Thieves dynamic in dealing with them are applied throughout and it paves for some wonderful character interaction and emotional story telling. P3 got a lot of love in this game too. I'll be honest I think P4 was left to dry in some regard in comparison but not in a bad way but in a way where the focus is where it needs to be in this story.
The fact that this popped up in my recommendation after Watching Q2 Cutscenes shows that TH-cam doesn’t know anything

God I love the entire Persona series and all the spin offs. Ever since three the music has just gotten better and better and better and by the end of the games you feel such a connection to all of the characters. Its so incredible, I cannot wait for Royal next year

Storywise during the whole game the Thieves know that Akechi is a traitor yet never inform the other teams that he has killed people.

I remember when this game was announced to come I just finished P5 on my PS4 and preordered the New Cinema Edition from Amazon. Amazon messed up and gave me two so have a random unopened PQ2 Special Edition box just sitting on my game shelf as decor

Yes, yes, and oh yes again! The premises and MUSIC of these games has been filling me with gushing streams of shining YESNESS since I first heard PQ's opening, Maze of Life! Kitajoh's still a saint, and PQ2's quartet opening theme Road Less Taken is...just...exactly what I've been feeling I wanted. Thank you, Cullen, for putting all of my feelings out there SO. WELL! :D

I haven't played this game, but from watching various moments of characters hanging out (like 4 hours worth which I know in total would be nothing with how much is here) it's a freakin dream. I love it. The premise of the story is also great. I don't know it all. But I watched the ending and I got in all the feels. Especially after seeing characters resolve issues in this game, only to find out that they will then forget everything.
Like Ken deciding to do his attempted murder, or Akechi lamenting about betraying Joker and stuff now, and oh so much more.
Persona never fails to touch my soul and make me feel all the feels. The only thing stopping me from playing this game myself, is mainly because my 3ds is in my attic hidden somewhere in a box.
I could emulate it. But that would feel disingenuous. I emulate Pokemon games, but only the ones that i've actually bought and played in the past.
So if I did play this game, I would want to buy it from an actual source to support it.
It's a shame the game now is so expensive and rare. I wasn't able to find it at a decent price.
@@andlopez18 see, and that's another reason I don't have it. Which I'm actually really upset about. Because back like right before Covid, when I went and pre ordered Royal, there was the special edition right there. And I didn't have the money to grab it as well.
What had me ok with the gameplay so far is that it reminds me of P1 and P2 first person dungeon exploration. I wish they had a PQ like with P1 and 2 characters

Okay I know you said don’t make this your first Persona game since they expect you to know the characters, but I’m just gonna google their stories when they come up. I have the money for this game, but not enough to buy a whole new console and buy P3 P4 and P5. I have gotten myself invested in P5 though since Joker’s announcement into Smash (thank you Sakurai!) so I have an idea on what I’m getting myself into.
The only character flaws or rather stereotypes I couldn’t get over in the whole Persona cast were Morgana and Akihiko. We get it Morgana your a god damn cat, you don’t need to explain it to every single character you meet and then some. Seriously it was cute in Persona 5, but even then it got kind of old. And as for Akihiko just one word: protein. I haven’t even played all the way the way through the game and I already know there’s several scenes where he won’t shut up about protein. They fixed Chies character a little bit and didn’t have her constantly talk about meat, for the most part. But in the end I guess that proves that Akihiko didn’t have a lot of character development until after Shinji died.

I jumped through so many hoops to play this game as early as possible. I even tried picking it up early at my least favorite place on Earth +shudder+ WalMart... Tried being the key word because their "organization" system was non-existant and they couldn't even find it. They had it, but they couldn't find it.

The Q formula doesn't have a lot of room for that unfortunately. I would love for Q3 to bring back some form of negotiation though!

Unpopular opinion: People say that this game should have been on the Switch, but I think this was an absolutely great sendoff to the 3DS system, I still play on that handheld a lot, and it's especially a miracle that this game got localized when it was dying out. Even if that fact is the reason why it is so unpopular and why it doesn't have an English dub.
I still like this game a lot. I'm happy Altus gave FEMC a chance to shine, I love her so much. And the opening is an absolute bop not gonna lie-
