It doesn't matter how many times I've seen this movie, the scene where Simba finds Mufasa dead in the gorge always gets me in the heart. Especially the fact that Scar gaslights Simba into thinking it was his (Simba's) fault and Johnathan Taylor Thomas' line delivery. Also, I am very glad they cast James Earl Jones as Mufasa. As much as I respect the actor, they almost cast Christopher Walken. Interesting fact about this movie: Lions, and other animals, can not, in fact, actually talk. They just had them be able to talk for the sake of the movie.
It's not the first time that James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair have acted together as king and queen. They did the same in Coming to America with Eddie Murphy.
Nathan Lane (Timon) and Matthew Broderick (adult Simba) would end up starring together in the 2005 movie version of Mel Brooks' The Producers, which also had a deleted scene where they meet Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa) in a bar and sing together.
The voices in this film are incredible; starting with Mufasa (James Earl Jones who R.I.P, also was the voice of Darth Vader among another epic roles), and Scar (Jeremy Irons).
"The Lion King" has many details in common with "Hamlet", the famous novel by Shakespeare. For me, it´s the best animated film ever, with one of the best OST ever composed (by the great Hans Zimmer). ALWAYS touches my heart in some scenes. It´s a truly masterpiece.
Abby, Hanna, Elton John recorded "The Circle Of Life". If ever you have the chance, check out the music video. In one portion of the video, you can see some of the voice actors along with the characters they play. Loved your reaction ladies😊
It's a bliss watching Abby live this movie! One of the true huge Disney classics, haven't heard of anyone who doesn't at least like this movie! My step brother and his wife has got one of those... "wigs?"... that you put on Boo, they got a daughter this spring and on her naming ceremony they put it on her and re-enacted that opening scene. :D There's a youtube clip of the line "Long live the king" in every language the movie have been translated to. Watch it and tell me that the swedish voice actor, the late Rikard Wolff, isn't the most cold hearted and sinister sounding one of them all, I double dare you! Thanks for uploading! I actually was in an off Broadway medley in a non Disney stage production of this back in the late 90s for Six Flags Theme parks. So did Kelly Clarkson in the same place in Arlington Texas
I think the moral of the story of The Lion King is that you may inherit a kingdom, but there are obstacles to overcome before you can. People will want to take you down, overthrow their hierarchy of the kingdom, etc. So Simba was overcoming obstacles due to a tyrant lion that wanted control over everything. It could have been considered a run of the mill story for 1994 standards, but it was how the story was executed that made The Lion King arguably the best film of the 1990s for Disney. Salute to Abby and Hannah. And I hope I don't get heat for saying this, but Hannah looks beautiful in this video. In the words of Rocky Balboa, Hannah would be breaking hearts the way she is looking.
What a cute reaction. I liked Sim-Boo's costume. Abby was in her element and liked that we got a few bonus 'BOOM! BOOM!'. So pleased that Hannah got to finally see The Lion King.

The thing about Lion King is how loosely it's based on Shakespeare's Hamlet. The plot is relatively the same with the only difference being the number of deaths within the respective productions. In Hamlet, a WHOPPING nine out of eleven characters die, whereas in Lion King, only two characters die.
@@jasonrandom372 Major characters I mean. The main cast in Hamlet had 9 out of 11 characters die. Lion King only had Mufasa and Scar die. Also, we later find out that the Hyenas left the Pridelands some time before Lion King 2.

Notable performances in this include James Earl Jones, Madge Sinclair, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Matthew Broderick, Jeremy Irons, Rowan Atkinson, Whoopie Goldberg, Cheech Marin and Nathan Lane.
