No modern GM's would even dare something like this exhibition. The masters of old were the gutsiest and greatest who could 'see' far beyond the blinds. We so-called moderns are still playing the openings and responses from back in the day.
Perhaps I misread the German (Tartakower's: Die hypermoderne Schachspartie), but this game appears to have been an Exhibition game, not a Blindfold "Seance", as they used to call them. Either way, a stunning queen sac!! Thank you, Mato! JC
It baffles me how Alekhine plays abnormal moves like this blindfolded. Even with my eyes wide open, i may not even think of such moves. Alekhine is one of the greatest to play chess.
Hi, at th-cam.com/video/r7H2Oz3CKxc/w-d-xo.html (3:13), is not knight to E6 a better move? I would play that move, or is that bad? Thank you for helping!
i dont get you... i mean after Ng5 attacking the Queen..Queen goes to b8..what if it is Qb7? The line u said doesn't seem to follow after Ng5 fxg8?????????/
I read somewhere that the Soviet Government outlawed blindfold chess exhibitions. If, somewhere in the great beyond, Fischer is playing Alekhine at their best, my money would be on Alekhine.
When I was a youngster in the '50's, I can remember Alekhine being considered the greatest of all time. I still think that can be a valid assessment.
of course alekhine didnt see his queen was under attack. he was blindfolded
It seems like superhuman intellect to be able to do this blindfolded.

magnus can do it blindfolded np
lmao what? there are tons of blindfold exhibitions by GMs today
Mano a mano, both blindfolded, both top ranked GM's, a la Saemisch and Alekhine...NO...it does not happen !
Is there any player who is recognised as the greatest "blindfold" player of all time? Alekhine has got to be up there.
Incredible game. Thanks Mato. You are the best.
Alekhine was stronger when he plays blindlfolded than normal xP
like Spongebob
I got the fxe6 but I missed the Nf8 variation by black.
Brilliant Game! Thanks Mato
Awesome MATO!

amazing!! O.O
Fantastic game by one of the best chess players ever Alexander Alekhine !
i have to admit, a finish this beautiful i have not seen except for nezhmetdinovs games. i am in awe.

I agree
spectacular
Brilliant Alekhine blindfolded!
This must be one of the best games I've seen..........and Alekhine did it blindfolded
If Saemisch hadn’t taken the Queen, which would have been the best move in response to pawn takes for e6?

Engine analysis says that after 20.Ne6 Qb8 the game is level.
thank you!

Was like game set up like a rap battle? Two guys standing next to each other surrounded by a crowd of people, blurting out chess moves at each other?
Ohh! Fantastic play by Alekhine!!!
Brilliant
Goosebumps here.
That was flabbergasting!
what's wrong with Qb7 @3:20
Then Ne6 threatening Bxg7#
+Matt Monitto Ne6 then Rg8 does it work? black has a queen he can still win without one rook
PoisonIsGreat It's mate in 3 after Rg8.
1. fxg8=Q+ Kxg8 2. Ne7+ Kh8 3. Bxg7#
Theres no knight on E6, protecting the check from bishop on G7
unAbated Yes there is. The d5 knight moves to e7, so there are knights on e6 and e7.
about 8 moves after the one he made blind. excellent!
If this was run through a chess engine, would pawn takes pawn be considered a blunder?(before BxQ)
And this was blindfolded!
The AA game I liked the most.
AWESOME SACRIFICE BY ALEKHINE! ☺
at 3:17. why not queen to Qb7
It's mate in 3 after Rg8.
1. fxg8=Q+ Kxg8 2. Ne7+ Kh8 3. Bxg7#
imbelievable !!!!
I saw this critical move at once :D
Maybe it's been asked, but why not Knight to E6?
The best of all time
where I can find the .pgn of this game? Someone...
how...i mean hooooow he do that ..
Ordinary mortals would move the queen away, but Alekhine is no ordinary mortal!!!
what if Queen to b7 at 03:24 ?
It's mate in 3 after Rg8.
1. fxg8=Q+ Kxg8 2. Ne7+ Kh8 3. Bxg7#
i dont get you... i mean after Ng5 attacking the Queen..Queen goes to b8..what if it is Qb7?
The line u said doesn't seem to follow after Ng5 fxg8?????????/
20...Фв7 21.Ке6 Лg8 22.fg+ Kg8 23.Ke7+ Kph8 24.Cg7x
+The12963 oooh i think i understood, Ke6 is threatning mate with Bxg7 !!!
What a brillant combination !
exactly what im thinking, thats what i expected from alekhine
This caltulation impress me much more than Tal sacrifice! Holy Christ!
wow.
Instead of Qb8 why not Qb7.
Mato, why not Queen to c5?
Then Ne6 attacking the queen and the rook, and after queen moves, rook get captured and its checkmate soon.
I read somewhere that the Soviet Government outlawed blindfold chess exhibitions.

be on Alekhine.
Saemisch was no pushover, but Alekhine flattens him.
Alekhine Is GOD of CHESS
these wer'nt normal minds..these chess engines
3:17 play Qb7 black wins! So scrubby
if qb7..ne6..threatens mate at g7 and the rook on d8..
Nothing scrubby about Mr Alekhines chess!

I found the move
