Why didn't I think of this before?!?!?!?! I was looking just this afternoon for a bigger oven so I could blackhouse my headlights before upgrading my retrofit. Now I don't have to bother my aunt or her husband at their house and I can do this at home. I bought a heat gun years ago when I was fixing my PS3 that crapped out on me and never worked for opening or sealing headlights, now I can finally use it for just that purpose. Thank you!
Yes partly, it will be harder to open than butyl....you will often have to re-heat the part you are working on.This is an example of a headlight sealed with permaseal; th-cam.com/video/lUw9jQx5Pf0/w-d-xo.html
this only works on small/medium size headlights.....i tried this method for my 2021 f150 headlights nd got them to 250f+ and the glue didn't even melted a bit lol or maybe they use stronger glue or something
Hi, yes, when permaseal is used to seal the headlight, it won't easily open by just heating it. You really need to work open the sealing, or even cut the lens off.

Sometimes easy things make life much easier (also because pie from an oven is much better than a headlight) :-)
Done this before, works great
Yes, and keeps the wife happy for not using her oven! ;-)
Nice tips..sir
:D
Very useful, thank you 👍
What material was the tube made of? Does it need to be heat resistant?
It is also made of cardboard. It does not need to be heat resistant ..
What temperature do you set the heat gun to when you leave it in the box?
300 Degrees Celsius for about 12-18 minutes
does this work for permaseal?

What is the diameter of the tube?
Around 10 cm, but it is not necessary needed, you can also just make a hole in the box :-)
👍🏻
is it first or second heat setting on gun?
first :) about 300 degrees celsius
