The trick with Sungolds is to harvest them as they are barely turning yellow. I have a little ritual of going out in my PJ's with my coffee and harvesting them every morning as they start turning. Let them finish ripening inside on the counter. They won't split and will be delicious! Plus you'll have a little bowl of candy like snacks always available.
I was told to prevent splitting you can just pick the tomato as soon as you can tell it starts turning. After that it will ripen off the vine and leaving it on the vine allows it to absorb more water and explode. I wasn't able to garden this year because we moved 900 miles and I had to give up all my gardening stuff but I grew tomatoes and cherry tomatoes for several years and always just picked as they turned and let them ripen indoors, especially the lil' ones. No exploding issues.
You should try finding at least 10 native edible plants in your state and grow em and let people know how they tast to help reduce california demands on water when people scream at farms where's the cactus 😂. But seriously can you give this a try please 🙏 😇.

Zucchini or any summer squash - grate it and make zucchini muffins (from your fave zucchini bread recipe) freeze and eat all winter for breakfasts. I use applesauce to sub for 1/2 the oil. Yummmy!
I guess 121 tomatoes and 351 total. Those tomatoes look so good! All mine got frozen and I had to replant and then they were too late to get a good harvest before the Texas heat set in.
I had a bunch of brandy wines splitting as they ripened so I cut them off and made fried green tomatoes. If I’d had some onions growing I’d have topped them with a homemade pico de gallo made from the ripe ones: you could fry a whole green sungold If you didn’t want to wait for them to ripen.

I left Japanese eggplant over winter in my garden in Oceanside and the next year harvest was INCREDIBLE. 10 times more, than the first year. The plant grew BIG.
I saw the sun gold tomato on another channel that loved them. I tried them and although the taste was good I had the same problem, they were all cracking when I took them off. Sun Golds have very thin skin, so they do tend to split. If you cut back on watering the skins will "toughen up" a little and they won't split as easily.

I too get cracked Sungolds. Now I pick them when yellow before watering. They take two or three days to ripen in my kitchen.
