    Do not have to apologize for showing us the realities of reselling. Some sourcing trips are duds and others are amazing, with everything in between. It good for the newer resellers to know and for the seasoned ones to nod in understanding. :-)

    I recently got a Disney lamp for $5. I listed it at $69. For a quick sale. But after two weeks it still had not sold. So I took a best offer of $40 plus shipping. So $35 minus mercari fees. I think it was worth my time, and I was looking at reviews one afternoon and the lady who bought the lamp had left the funniest review. Talking about how it was wrapped and wrapped then cover and cover again. She said lol she didn’t think she was ever going to actually get to the lamp with all the wrap. I’m just so glad it arrived in good condition. I go a little overboard on wrapping breakables. But that’s a good thing. Plus the lady’s review made me laugh. 😊 Leslye

    Great video as always!!! I think you have different types of shoppers at yard sales compared to Ebay. I believe some people selling at yard sales now think they'll get the same profits as online. Selling on Ebay to me is almost like being a personal shopper and buyers are willing to pay for items they are looking for (designer, vintage, electronics etc)! Just my thoughts about it. Thx for the video!

    I'm with you on selling mostly clothes and agree with everything you said! I used to sell "anything" that would turn a profit. As I matured as a reseller, I began to niche down to 95% Men's and women's jeans. The results are incredible! When your a generalist, you spend all day in one store because your hands have to touch EVERYTHING and rummage through every dept. Selling only denim, I save so much valuable time being only focused on a few racks in each store. More efficient way to get through bins too. Sure, there MIGHT be a vintage baseball glove in sporting goods that could make me $20 profit but I'm OK with just grabbing one more pair of Everlane jeans instead.

      Great point! I've been thrifting and flipping for a few years now. I didn't have a niche I just bought decor and things I like without a brand and would post it. I would switch out my decor when I was bored but storing the items have been a challenge. Things break or I run out of space. I'm really leaning now more to clothes since I have 5 kids and we all need clothes. I didn't do well with clothes on FB marketplace my only source of selling platform. Now I'm going to try and venture into eBay in hopes I can open up my clientele.

    • @merchantmondo8985
      @merchantmondo8985 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rachelking7002 Good for you! I have not ventured in home decor at all, save for maybe a few pieces of porcelain knick knacks. I assume Home Decor to be low profit and slow moving as it is not much of a necessity in most cases and I don't see eBay being the first place that comes to mind for the average consumer unless it is a very rare, unique and sought after. Clothing is a bit competitive but very abundant. The biggest hurdles to get over is learning what brands do well and then actually falling in love with the process of listing. I hear and see so many times of how much resellers hate selling clothes because you have to take measurements and a reasonable amount of photos. Theres really not much to once you learn to enjoy listing them. When I lay out a piece and take photos, measure and finally fold them into a clear poly bag, I think of how much the customer is going love the item and it becoming their new favorite pair of jeans. I bit weird, yeah but its important to practice mindfulness, be in the moment and take it one item at a time, then you hit flow state. I can ramble forever but just know im rooting for you. Keep learning from Ashley and Chris from Daily Refinement. Be patient with yourself. You will do well.

    I’m not much of a clothing reseller although I have sold a few things. I’m more bone china and glass even though that’s getting tough. I’m in an area of Florida where isn’t much in the way of better clothes and shoes. Many Goodwills are now pulling better items and sending to their online auction site. Garage sales are mostly kids clothes and toys with a few random things thrown in and even those are scarce. Enjoy watching you and wish I had your ambition while I sit here with 20 plus boxes of stuff to list.

    You find not just good brands but a huge quantity of those great brands and at amazing prices. I’ve been thrifting now for 6 months and only found 1-2 Lululemon things and 2/3 were too expensive to buy. Found a few Patagonia items but Goodwill usually catches them and marks them up too much. My best scores lately are 1. Patagonia Ascensionist backpack for .50 and flipped for $100. And just found a pair of purple Tieks for $5. Not listed yet. Thx for the videos!!

    Request. Please leave your insert photos of sold and listed items up for longer. They disappear before they can be read. I counted seconds, and some of them were only up for 3 or 4 seconds. Some were as many as 10 seconds. Personally, 15 seconds would be better.

    I do very well on brand new lego Walmart or target. Lego is collectable once there out they dont make them anymore. Within 1 years you can tripple your price. Some really go high. Dont buy star wars lego they keep making those.

    I enjoy your channel yet wonder Why is it OK for you to buy and sell at a profit but it isn’t OK for the yard sellers to try to make a profit?

    • @HustleatHomeMom
      @HustleatHomeMom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They absolutely can! I just think a yard sale is maybe not the place to charge ebay/posh prices. There is no return guarantee, no satisfaction guarantee, as-is purchases only, no authenticity guarantee... Just my opinion, but I wonder if these sellers don't go home with almost as much inventory as they arrived with. If their goal is to sell, I think they need to embrace the mindset most people have when they shop at yard sales - they are expecting yard sale prices. :) But if it works for them, that's great! I could be wrong.

      Also a LOT more work goes into sourcing, cleaning, steaming, researching, listing, sharing etc than just to throw it on a table outside. So why should th epeople throwing it on a table outside not putting in the work and not paying eBay fees feel they should get that pricing? Lol everyone is free the charge what they want but usually yard sales are to get rid of things not turn a profit

    Your search is for sale products being under priced there while they understandably trying to get the profit themselves. Especially if they are the original purchasers. Can't win them all

      I do most of the time, like at that first sale I happily paid what she asked. But the difference with the last sale was that the prices were just too high for me and felt unreasonable. In those instances, I'll ask if they're willing to negotiate and if they aren't, no hard feelings, but if they are, I'll ask for a reasonable discount. For the last sale, they were asking $385 and I asked for $300 and they were totally happy with that. 🙏🏻

    The people at the 1st yard sale didn’t “overvalue” their stuff they were just smart and knew the value nothing wrong with that. I don’t understand why you think you let anyone down because YOU didn’t get to buy a bunch of stuff really super cheap and resell it for a huge profit who cares.

    Overpriced? It would be the same prices you would charge right? All these vlogs you resellers do are making people wise up. Its getting harder and harder to resell because of youtubers. No hate, just saying... anyways... love your videos

    • @HustleatHomeMom

      Thanks for your kind comment! Maybe, but I also think there is a difference between an advertised yard sale and what to expect with pricing vs. a price we would see on eBay, Posh, etc. If someone is advertising a yard sale, I think it's reasonable for those stopping by to expect steeply discounted prices, so when the opposite happens... it can be a little jarring. Also, as an eBay seller, when I buy something from someone I'm taking on all the risk. Risk of returns, risk of damage, risk of it sitting in my store for months and months, risk of negative feedback or lost shipping, etc. When I buy from a yard sale, as a buyer, I get none of the guarantees that come from buying online - I can't return it, I get it as-is, and I accept any damages or flaws. So, while I do hope these sellers sold a lot of great stuff and made some good money, I was there with cash ready to buy up a lot of inventory and take on a lot of risk, but these steep prices steered me away. I guess it depends on the seller's goals! These are just my opinions though, I mean no offense and wish nothing but the best to these sellers! 🥰

      @@HustleatHomeMom I completely understand and agree with what you said. What im saying is that TH-cam vlogs on reselling is making everyone think they can get eBay prices no matter what and where they sell it. I do however as a long haul truck driver and part time reseller, appreciate your videos... its a catch 22 for me. Just dont be discouraged. You are doing great.

      I do think youtube makes it harder in some ways for resellers, over the years I've seen way more competition out in the stores...But the more sellers, the more buyers, right? Before I was a reseller, I never shopped on Ebay. Now I'm constantly buying things from eBay and poshmark 🤣 & Selling online is way different than selling at a garage sale- online you can charge a premium for the reasons Ashley mentioned and the fact that you have thousands of potential buyers looking for an exact item shipped to their door. Garage sales you have a small amount of people settling for a random item they may or may not need.
