  • To emphasize the drama of the scene it was used in, we wanted to give this bathroom a cold, sterile and slightly unsettling look. That’s why everything looks clean and symmetrical, and why we designed the faucets to have a strange, yet elegant shape.
    This scene is featured in the trailer for our film, check it out via th-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&vide...

      Thanks! I don't know the name of the guide. It is from Japan. I can find out later and maybe make a video about it or something. You can also use a pen or pencil. Hope it helps!

      I made the same question!
      IT's called RGB (Ruler guided Brush) it was original made by HOLBEIN Art Supplies
      They don't make it any more.
      The only way you can get one of these, it by Purchasing a certain Gouache SET
      HOLBEIN ANSEWR ME THIS.
      ---Unfortunately yes, it is out of production. It may be found in an Acryla Gouache plastic palette set (D423, D425).---
      But seem very hard to find.
      As Natte said, you can use a regular ruler with a line in the middle and a pencil
      use it like if you were using Chinesse food sticks

    Great work. After you covered the tile lines with paint how did you still know where the tiles were? Were they still a little see-through? Going from line drawing to not having outlines is magic.

    • @MatteNande

      Thanks, Sergio! The lines indeed remain see-through enough

    My mind can’t even process how you can make such a realistic background. I have been wanting to make more detailed animations but I suck at drawing backgrounds. I’ve been considering painting my own backgrounds, any tips?

      Thanks Dave! It is quite hard to find those Japanese paints and brushes outside Japan. I bought the 140 ml over there. Maybe you can check this one: www.johnnealbooks.com/prod_detail_list/s?keyword=nicker

      Matte! Nande? Thanks for the answer! Is it true the nicker paints are quite inexpensive there? And about the brushes, can i find them on web? Thanks

    • @MatteNande
      @MatteNande  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      a 140 ml bottle is around 940 yen, so around 9 dollars. I haven't found an international link where to buy those brushes. I will upload some info about later. Maybe in a video.

    • @jycaa6991
      @jycaa6991 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In fact, This is the same but, poster colors are more pigmented, vibrant and opaque ( buuut it's very expensive )

    Awesome painting. What kind of paper is that? Is it the kind of paper artists used in the past for painting animation backgrounds?

    • @MatteNande
      @MatteNande  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It's a paper that's developed for this kind of paint in Japan. It's used a lot in anime. In western animation, the paper is more likely what is typically used for watercolors, gouache or acrylic.

    What ruler do you use to draw lines with paintbrush? คุณใช้ไม้บรรทัดอะไรในการเขียนเส้นด้วยพู่กันคะ?

    • @MatteNande
      @MatteNande  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a grooved ruler, so you can use a rod or pen with a brush as if they were chopsticks and the brush itself doesn't touch the ruler.

    What happens if you need an object in the background to move

    • @MatteNande
      @MatteNande  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Depends on the way you want it to move and look. Could be a painted cut-out, could be 2D animation, or a CGI element with a painted texture

    isn't the paper texturized? If it is... how do you remove the texture when it got scanned?

    • @MatteNande
      @MatteNande  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The paper actually has very little texture, sort of like hot pressed watercolor paper.

    Um.. Why paint the back of the paper with water?

    • @MatteNande
