Saw that you finally reviewed this and was overjoyed. If there is one person that can have an eloquent and nuanced take on a popular, 'over-reviewed' fragrance like Layton, it's going to be AC. Wishing you happy holidays and a wonderful new year!
Thanks AC. I cycle around to this occasionally in the colder months, and enjoy it for a couple of days at a time, then it gets a bit boring. But it is lovely in short bursts. last summer, my wife and I both really loved wearing Sedley.
An interesting note for this fragrance - I believe it has around 7ish percent Norlimbanol, which is about 10x the typical use of that material. When I first saw that in the GCMS I was shocked! But it truly works in this formulation, taught me a lot about how “recommended use levels” are just guidelines - sometimes you have to throw out the norms and do the “unthinkable”! (mind you I’m not talking about safe use levels which are definitely black and white!).
I remember getting a generous sample when I first got into fragrances, and it really was a 'compliment god'. Every time I wore it, women would ask about it. Unfortunately, I always found it to be just okay, and my taste went elsewhere. In the end you have to wear what you like, and not for how others react.
you forgot to mention jasmine, this note makes the scent soft and delicate even though it does project a lot.the new batch has a synthetic note which makes it smell cheap sometimes, however the vanilla is high quality
PdM is sometimes called a designer brand charging niche prices and I can agree with that to some extent. They produce massappealing likeable fragrances with good quality ingredients but they are not cheap. Layton is one of the 2 bottles from this brand I have in my collection, second one is Sedley. Both really nice and honestly if I was not a collector, I can imagine having all occasions covered with these two fragrances alone....
@@ACSmellsGood Sedley does it for me. Try it also in summer. Staying with the house of PdM, I never really came to appreciate Galloway enough to buy a bottle. I always felt like that fragrance is missing something. Yeah, sometimes we just have different tastes and that's absolutely fine! :)
It's a nice fragrance but I could never include it as my fragrance. Got multiple samples but never got the full bottle. I personally found it very generic. It reminded me of Lomani fragrances that I used ages ago.
I recently went to John Lewis found this and the exclusif on the display. I sprayed them to to remind myself how nice they smelled. It seemedl like they both have lost their sparkle sadly
Hi AC thanks 🙏🏼 for your reviews you’re an amazing artist who we treasure as a Professor of perfumology, awaiting your feedback on Naughton & Wilson new project Areezo.
I just bought myself Galloway as my first PDM and now ordered samples of Herod and Carlisle. I am off to hot, humid Thailand in a few weeks, what can you recommend AC? 😊
Galloway will work beautifully in that weather and so will anything that is high quality and holds its struture like Rasasi Al Wissam Day, Nishane Colognise, Prada L homme l eau.
Loving the range of fragrances you are reviewing!! The budget Rasasi to niche price points...tremendous range really creates great content for us viewers and not to mention the learning. Reminds me of the great Naseeruddin Shah, he can take any role and run with it...challenging himself but also his viewers to accept him in a new skin. Great stuff AC!!
Very kind of you my friend and yeah I want to review everything that impresses me. I am not looking at the price tag. So glad to hear you are appreciating that spirit and so many of my subscribers are on the same page as me :). Its very uplifting ! Naseruddin Shah is such an ultimate actor. My favorite movie of his is Junoon, what a movie that was! Actually quite a few of his are my favorites.

A fragrance close to my heart… was my wedding fragrance
Great video and I enjoyed it and I like this fragrance and I give it a 9 out of 10 in my opinion and have a blessed day
I get 24 hours plus on my sweaters. Beautiful silage

Indeed, you have to wear what you truly like.

I don't think Jasmine plays so much of a role in this fragrance.

Totally agree with everything you said :). You know somehow I could never like Sedley. I will try it again next spring.

@@ACSmellsGoodmy fav still is Tridev. Less sophisticated choice than yours but as a kid growing up then action movies were a treat
Another one on the never ending list, Thanks AC 🫨👍🏻
