    Hey, Non Existent, I have a problem concerning the ring in the magazine tube that keeps the follower from falling out. For some reason, it's also retaining the shells I try inserting, which makes it a pain to insert more shells into the tube after inserting the first shell. I've seen a lot of videos where the user inserts a shell smoothly as butter. Sometimes it lets my shells go through, but only if I use a lot more muscle than I should be using and it hurts my reload hand. After I disassembled my 870 and took out the ring, the shells fall in and out of the tube just fine, along with the follower. So I feel like there may be something wrong with the ring. Do you have an explanation for this? If so, is there a solution? Thanks!

    When I pump the Shotgun it's stiff. What area do I have to lubricate so it racks a round smoothly?

    Amazing video on how to disassemble the shotgun, but now that it’s in pieces I can’t put it back together.

      Have a look at the full playlist for the APS CAM870. It should help you out.

    Hey Non Existent, not sure if you check these comments anymore, but I came across your video doing research on getting a shell-ejecting shotgun. I was wondering if you had any experience modifying one of the shorter CAM870s such as the Bastard/Douchebag to tac it out like the longer Keymod version. Specifically, I was wondering if the buffer tube adapter would fit the shorty, swapping out the handguard to an M-Lok grip, and adding a picatinny rail on top for optics. Additionally, any idea if the tip is threaded to fit a faux suppressor?
    Lastly, I've heard debate between the MkI/MkIII vs the MkII. Which do you recommend?

    • @CJAwesome83
      @CJAwesome83  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't. But looking at the pictures of the short versions you are talking about, the receiver looks to be the same. Meaning that you could attach other types of stocks and grips. They have the Douchebag short pistol grip as an accessory and says it fits all APS CAM870 versions. So that should be fine. Fore ends/handguard should also work. There is no out of the box mounting holes for a rail on top. I drilled and tap my own holes on my receivers. Standard APS CAM870 barrels are not threaded, but they do have an additional barrel that is. But I guess it would be too long for a shorty build.
      As for MKI, MKII and MKIII. MKIII all the way. Gas in shell! If you can't get a MKIII or you can get a MKI at a good price, that is also fine.

      I can not because I have dismantled my FNX45 and thrown most of the internals in the trash where they belong and will be selling the rest off for parts. :|

    Will a real steel forend nut fit this aps cam? Thanks!

    • @CJAwesome83
      @CJAwesome83  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does not. Barrel and magazine tube are offset diameter to prevent usage with real ammunition.

    There's an allen head on the end of the mag extension, why not use that to avoid marking up the tube?

    The "tube part" of my magazine extension unscrews, but not the "nut" part, it just wiggles a little. Have I damaged the threads maybe?

    • @CJAwesome83
      @CJAwesome83  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The nut is retained by a small detent under spring pressure and there are corresponding dimples in the nut holding it in place. So if you use a plumbers wrench as I showed and go for the nut itself it should come off and then you can see the detent and dimples I am talking about.
      The reason why it would wiggle is if it is unscrewed a little bit and resting "loosely" on the detent.
      Hope that makes sense :-)

    • @johndoeanon445
      @johndoeanon445 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tried a plumber's wrench. Maybe I haven't wrenched hard enough?

    • @CJAwesome83
      @CJAwesome83  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hrmmm... Definately sounds strange. Is there a visible gap between the magazine tube and the nut?
      Perhaps if you try to compress the nut rearwards to depress the detent and then unscrew the nut?
      It's not supposed to be super tight but I did experience it binding up once when I was installing my new magazine extension.
      Maybe take some pictures and message me on FB and I can have a look. Links are in the video description.

    Would I need a new spring for the magazine tube for the 5 shot police version by adding a +1 extension?

    • @CJAwesome83
      @CJAwesome83  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doubt it. +1 Should be manageable with the existing spring. Have not seen or heard anything about a new spring being required.

    • @CJAwesome83

      Yeah man they are all built on the same underlying platform so you should be OK to follow this for an AOW!

    would any stock bearing plate work for this, say maybe one from and actual shotgun? the aps site dont have them for sale, and i have no idea how to get a hold of them, i emailed them but havent heard anything back, just figured i might be able to say screw it and order or purchase and actual stock bearing plate for a real shotgun. i just really want to get my cam870 together so i can put it to use

    • @CJAwesome83
      @CJAwesome83  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm... Good question man.
      Looking at pics I see one immediate difference in that on the APS the shell latch arms are held in cutouts of the APS plate. And the APS plate is also pretty thin, hard to tell how thick the real one is. You will have to do a bit of Dremel work on it but it would be worth a try. It's a 6 USD part so.
      But I've always had great success when reaching out to APS customer service so a bit surprising they didn't get back to you.

    • @CJAwesome83
      @CJAwesome83  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, BTW you would want to get a stock bearing plate for the Remington 870 Express style shotgun as that is what the APS is based on. And seeing how a lot of other parts are very close to the real thing it might just work.

    Thoughts on the taiwan ban on the cam870? ive noticed that US stores have stopped selling these

    • @matthewchai7235
      @matthewchai7235 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      do you know if you can put magnum sights on a beaded barrel?
      I'm planning to get the 870 marine, but i want to put on some sights.
      (subscribed for your rail modification video)

    • @CJAwesome83
      @CJAwesome83  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wrote a bit about it on my Facebook page actually. I freaked out at first when the news broke and that's why I ended up with an APS CAM870 SAI shotgun :p
      But yeah, it's unfortunate. Punks making trouble for everyone else. APS have announced they will release a reworked design in September and unfortunately it's very unlikely that they will run double production lines/designs so even for us that are not affected by the Taiwan ban we will have to get with the program and use the new design when it comes to that. :(

    • @CJAwesome83
      @CJAwesome83  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah man, the magnum sights require dovetail cuts in the barrel and the bead sight barrels don't have that.
      Thanks for subscribing, hope you enjoy the videos :D

    • @matthewchai7235
      @matthewchai7235 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ah alright. thank you! no idea if the magnum barrel comes as a separate part at all :(
      I'll be making some taofledermus themed videos with my buddy Congsterism (another airsoft reviewer on TH-cam) soon, so we gotta look the part. haha

    • @CJAwesome83

      I had a look on APS website, they don't sell the magnum barrels separately :(

    Where did you get your shotgun from?

    • @CJAwesome83
      @CJAwesome83  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought this directly from APS. But they only sell the MKII model now that is gas-in-bolt.
      Perhaps contact then and ask to buy a GEN1 gas-in-shell model: www.aps-concept.com/index.php?route=information/contact
      Other than that I like AsiaAirsoft because of their included flat rate shipping: asiaairsoft.com/index_eproduct_view.php?products_id=7331
      You should email them and make sure it's not a MKII though.

      Non Existent thanks man. I think I'm going to assemble my own gun though. I'm on my fourth time watching your video to make sure I get everything I need.
      thanks again.

      Do you know the technical name for the trap door below the bolt that holds the shells in and allows you to push another one in? I've decided to build my own Shotgun and need to order everything so I can do it all in one go.

    • @CJAwesome83
      @CJAwesome83  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shell carrier or shell lifter is the correct name for it.
      APS sells the trigger plate / trigger group as a complete unit: www.aps-concept.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=25_115&product_id=655
      For naming reference check out Brownells schematic of the real Remington 870 Express: www.brownells.com/schematics/Remington-/870-Express-sid2.aspx
      APS online store has a lot of parts available separately for you to build a gun: www.aps-concept.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=25_115&limit=100
