- Having a proper understanding of anatomy is key to any successful portrait. Any pen can be used for this technique, I prefer a finer Chinese calligraphy pen. Trying to find other types of cool old paper to draw on.

For those interested in the exact pen, it's a Kuretake Bimoji Fude pen (not the brush tip, though that's also quite nice), available at most art supply stores and Amazon.

I've been doing that. I find old papers all over the place and sketch on them, but I'm just practicing at the moment. I have a bit of work left. One day when I get good at drawing, I will make a huge bonfire to celebrate.

You can draw!! A little bit of practice each day goes a long way. Most people aren’t born with the ability to draw without extensive practice. Instead, the best artists are born with a curiosity to draw and passionately pursue it. So if you have the desire to draw, you can definitely do it. Take that first step and start drawing a little bit everyday. You’ll be amazed at the progress you make. :) I believe in you.
