    Inside the $1BN Grand Egyptian Museum Megaproject: The World’s Largest Museum Revealed!
    For over a century, Egypt’s history has often been narrated by museums and institutions in Europe and the U.S., leaving Egyptian voices in the background. But that narrative might shift with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum. Just a short drive from Cairo, near the iconic Pyramids of Giza, this sprawling complex is set to be the largest museum dedicated to a single civilization in the world. It covers about 500,000 square meters-think 80 football fields worth of space. A new airport, Sphinx International, has even been built nearby to cater to the expected influx of visitors.

    The best thing Egyptians can do to celebrate their amazing civilization would be to stop any further building encroachment toward the Giza pyramids. They are threatened. Keep the area clear and pick up the trash. To my way of thinking, this monstrous structure took land that would have been better left as sand.

    I'm a Westerner who loves museums, but I wish all the ancient Egyptian artifacts taken from Egypt over the centuries be returned to them for this museum. It's archeological/cultural theft. Some of the most egregious examples include: Rosetta Stone in the British Museum, Bust of Nefertiti at the Neues Museum in Berlin, Dendera Zodiac at the Louvre in Paris, Tutankhamun's Treasures in various Western museums, Temple of Dendur at the Met in New York. I feel the same about 'respectably' looted artifacts being returned to other respective sources.

      Absolutely agree.. The time has come to restore such objects to their homes. They can make visually identical substitutes first. Imagine the Parthenon with its " Elgin"!! Marbles restored.

      @peterwilson6363 Yes, imagine that but the resources to do that at the moment are non-existent. Scholars agree they are safer where they are now until better accommodation can be made.

    Decolonization of Egyptology is always one of their top priorities, which is understandable, but yet when visiting the pyramids or other significant archaeological sites you’re sometimes knee deep in garbage. Frustrating when visiting historical sites and there’s plastic bottles and trash everywhere, in every corner. Nobody takes pride especially in places like this, and shows a true reflection of the site’s significance in their list of priorities….

    • @sabrinarodrigues629

    • @conservativemike3768
      @conservativemike3768 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The decolonization argument is a lie. Locals ignored, defaced, wrecked, or robbed everything for at least 1,100 years until Napoleon showed up. The Tut excavation a century later made modern Egypt-ology mainstream. Without EUROPEANS there would be nothing left of ancient Egypt except piles of rocks. Your welcome. a-holes.

      @@sabrinarodrigues629 And Egypt is now an Arab, Islamic nation where Coptic Christians-who are indigenous-have become an endangered species, forever threatened by violence. With a handful of very old people, its ancient Jewish population is long gone. If the anti-Democratic and corrupt Sisi were ousted again, the equally corrupt and inherently colonialist, imperialist Muslim Brotherhood would take over.
      I don’t think the pharaohs would think much of what Egypt’s conquerors have done with the place.

    In Egypt every Egyptian man acts as though he is the second cousin of Ramses and every woman the first cousin of Nefertiti. The fact is that the current crop of Egyptians have nothing to do with the dead and gone pharaohs. There was a DNA aberration.
    I came to the conclusion because 5000 years later they build this monstrosity.
    I'm an indian and indians act the same as though they are direct descendents of Rama or Krishna etc. The truth is that the current indiand have no such greatness in any field compared to people lived in this geological boundary thousands of years ago.
    They were just different people. Nothing to do with the present population.
