Inside the $1BN Grand Egyptian Museum Megaproject: The World’s Largest Museum Revealed!
For over a century, Egypt’s history has often been narrated by museums and institutions in Europe and the U.S., leaving Egyptian voices in the background. But that narrative might shift with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum. Just a short drive from Cairo, near the iconic Pyramids of Giza, this sprawling complex is set to be the largest museum dedicated to a single civilization in the world. It covers about 500,000 square meters-think 80 football fields worth of space. A new airport, Sphinx International, has even been built nearby to cater to the expected influx of visitors.

For all the naysayers…Ancient Egyptian artifacts need to be protected. This is for all mankind. Bravo! 👏👏👏
I'd like to see more.... Excellent video!!!!
Many thanks from Sao Paulo, Brasil.❤️🙏
Can’t wait to see this in person
It’s befitting the great Egyptians in scale and awe
Tut Ankh Kamun, his afterlife is the here and now.
Wow. So awesome .❤👍🌹
Amazing. I was in Egypt two years ago and went to the old museum, but this new museum which I haven’t seen yet will be the most modern museum for the 21st century
It's gonna be stunning experience there 🤩
Hopefully, my daughter and I will visit🙏🏽!. Awesome!😍👍🏼👍🏼

True across the board in Egypt.
It would have been fantastic if the grand Egyptian museum resembled an Acient Egyptian Temple...
Muito das ciências do Egito dos faraós é usado até hoje no mundo inteiro. Isso é divino e maravilhoso 😊
Looks like I might have to holiday in Egypt in a year or two.
I hope it’s built to withstand vandalism or attack to protect the antiquities
The GEM is not fully open yet, only 12 galleries are open.
The best thing Egyptians can do to celebrate their amazing civilization would be to stop any further building encroachment toward the Giza pyramids. They are threatened. Keep the area clear and pick up the trash. To my way of thinking, this monstrous structure took land that would have been better left as sand.
Shouldn’t it be a concern to gather all those artifacts in one place, while missiles are flying next door?
I hope all treasures of Tutankhamun will be available soon. When I visited Egyptian Museum in Cairo about 10 years ago. I could not take any photos or videos. I hope we will be able to take photos. If necessary I don’t mind to pay fee for taking photos and videos.
Wonderful 5:43 .... How is the painting remain unharmed all that time
Super-dry climate.
When will this open?
Khemet / Misr
These things should not be "restored" leading to damage and alterations. leave these items alone.
Beautiful. Very well explained and documented. Thank you.
I'm a Westerner who loves museums, but I wish all the ancient Egyptian artifacts taken from Egypt over the centuries be returned to them for this museum. It's archeological/cultural theft. Some of the most egregious examples include: Rosetta Stone in the British Museum, Bust of Nefertiti at the Neues Museum in Berlin, Dendera Zodiac at the Louvre in Paris, Tutankhamun's Treasures in various Western museums, Temple of Dendur at the Met in New York. I feel the same about 'respectably' looted artifacts being returned to other respective sources.
Absolutely agree.. The time has come to restore such objects to their homes. They can make visually identical substitutes first. Imagine the Parthenon with its " Elgin"!! Marbles restored.
@peterwilson6363 Yes, imagine that but the resources to do that at the moment are non-existent. Scholars agree they are safer where they are now until better accommodation can be made.
The bust of Nefertiti is a fake ! The best egiptian museum in Europe is MUSEO EGIZIO in Turin (Italy)
Gotta say, that massive museum is REALLY ugly... looks and feels very brutal and unwelcoming, with nothing architecturally worth remembering.
Whos ramsey 😮
Who is the narrator?

George Clooney
Decolonization of Egyptology is always one of their top priorities, which is understandable, but yet when visiting the pyramids or other significant archaeological sites you’re sometimes knee deep in garbage. Frustrating when visiting historical sites and there’s plastic bottles and trash everywhere, in every corner. Nobody takes pride especially in places like this, and shows a true reflection of the site’s significance in their list of priorities….
This decolonization crap talk is tiresome. It took a french man to decipher the hieroglyphs...
The decolonization argument is a lie. Locals ignored, defaced, wrecked, or robbed everything for at least 1,100 years until Napoleon showed up. The Tut excavation a century later made modern Egypt-ology mainstream. Without EUROPEANS there would be nothing left of ancient Egypt except piles of rocks. Your welcome. a-holes.
@@sabrinarodrigues629 And Egypt is now an Arab, Islamic nation where Coptic Christians-who are indigenous-have become an endangered species, forever threatened by violence. With a handful of very old people, its ancient Jewish population is long gone. If the anti-Democratic and corrupt Sisi were ousted again, the equally corrupt and inherently colonialist, imperialist Muslim Brotherhood would take over.
I don’t think the pharaohs would think much of what Egypt’s conquerors have done with the place.

i saw it, dont like the unpersonal atmosphere, the huge and no green.

In Egypt every Egyptian man acts as though he is the second cousin of Ramses and every woman the first cousin of Nefertiti. The fact is that the current crop of Egyptians have nothing to do with the dead and gone pharaohs. There was a DNA aberration.
I came to the conclusion because 5000 years later they build this monstrosity.
I'm an indian and indians act the same as though they are direct descendents of Rama or Krishna etc. The truth is that the current indiand have no such greatness in any field compared to people lived in this geological boundary thousands of years ago.
They were just different people. Nothing to do with the present population.
Speak about yourself cow . Not about us we r their sons and daughters . Retarded
All built with copper tools…😂😂😂 Are we so dumb.
Did the boats say the Phatoahs name Kufu (sp?) or is that a huge assumption
As long as Zahi Hawass has nothing to do with any of it..
He crafts his historical narratives around his own ego.. He is detrimental to anyone wanting to really understand what Egyptian history truly is..
He demolishes afrocentrist bs this is why you mad
TESTIFY! I've always detested that pest!
Misleading HEADLINES!!! Is it fully opened afterall??
NOT FULLY OPENED YET - only ground floor and grand staircase - whats there is outstanding but the upper floors are not available to the public yet
It’s tastefully designed beach house. I’d love to be invited for a few nights. Those bar set ups are lovely.
I think the voice in the video is for the presenter of cnn with sunglasses
He's insufferable
I don't like it. It has too many shapes, textures, angles, it's all a bit too busy. It distracts hugely from the wonderful items being displayed
Its based on Pyramid shapes - AE symbolism - as it right NEXT to the pyramids - its amazing when you see it close up and watched it being built - it an architectural marvel
@KaboozeGlobalMedia who cares what you think as well
That the post modern architecture.
It wasn't built for you. If you don't like it don't go there!!
@@evelyngoodshot-segovia4978 Weird answer. So you can't give an opinion on any world architecture if you're not planning to visit it!?
1 billion dedicated to dead people. We need to be investing in people who are alive.
British museum now return what you stole to egypt
If you leave it lying around in the dessert it’s fair game mate
Losers are crying
British defeated u and took.....one Hindu king supported British to attack another Hindu king😂😂
It was the past! Get over it. You weren't even alive 😂😂😂
Rent free. You realise everywhere in the world has artifacts from all round the globe? What about all the dinosaur skeletons that are dug up in different countries and taken for display in a different country? Should they give them to the country they are found in instead? What about the Roman and Viking stuff displayed in museums all round the world? The Smithsonian museum in America has tons if stuff, go complain about that too
@@jamessmithson-br7rm No, it's not as if it was lying somewhere in the UK,it was on Egyptian soil
Where is such a poor country getting this money from?
They do have some major sources of income, among them the Suez canal (or so I would imagine), agricultural produce, and not least tourism, with untold millions of visitors each year

..more like the largest con ..Is it as crappy and dirty as the other musseum?
The other museum is 200 years old or something. This one is new. There's no comparison. Also, this museum is designed by a famous Dutch architecture agency of post modern architecture. It took 20 years to build it.
