For years I had no clue that he wasn’t American because of the Kick-Ass films and Godzilla and Savages. When I first heard his accent I was SO confused.

At different times throughout the film he sounded straight american, australian, south african, or a weird mix. On the occasion that certain words or phrases did sound like a vague southern english accent, it was mixed between recieved pronunciation (posh) and cockney. It was clear that it was an American putting on a really bad cockney accent - pronouncing 'bad arse' as 'bard arse' was comically bad.
