Absolutely beautiful. Not many people can do Willie justice with their voice. . . the inflection, the crescendo, the range. I bet Willie felt you had stolen away inside him when he listened to this recording. You have been given something very special. Thanks for sharing.
Written by Bill Callery, one of Jerry Jeff Walker's buddies in the late 1970's. Willie covered it and Norah has kept this beautiful song alive. She does it right, thanks to you
OK, now I get it. I started getting feeds on Sophie B Hawkins as I started the Norah Jones catch up tour...but I couldn't figure out why I'm getting these feeds from artists from the mid to late 90's ... Sophie B. Hawkins wrote this song ... and Norah performs it... I need to say that TH-cam is creepy ... Hahaha... sorry... but still thanks for introducing me to this artist.
Well, I wonder where I got the Sophie B Hawkins thing. I posted that 10 months ago and can't remember what I did yesterday, so, it's become one of life's great mysteries - that is, until I can't remember why I posted this. It's a vicious circle man.

i don’t doubt n. jones’s talent or even her taste but boy does she make it all milquetoast, she gravitates toward beige. M WARD gravitates toward npr pseudo pseudoism, this video is not worth commenting upon
She sucks. She doesn't even sign it right. Oh wait, now some guy is singing who sucks even worse than she did. No feeling. When Willie sings it it has some feeling and some real emotion. This is like karaoke night
@Bill T Marchi Are you being serious or are you trolling? Norah's interpretation is absolutely stunning here. Gives me chills/goosebumps. It sounds way more profound to me than Willie's version in my opinion. I went back and listened to Willie's and was not impressed at all when compared to Norah Jones's. Norah Jones's version has more emotion and nuance in her voice. I know it's originally Willie Nelson's song but I feel it's vastly improved by Norah Jones. The original is not always better than the newer version. I think this is a perfect example of that.
@@sopranosfan11 ya, she sings the same monotone flat pitch with that fake western country twang through the whole song. A howling dog has more feeling. But to each their own.
@@sopranosfan11 so only you are allowed an opinion and only you are allowed to post it. She sucks and does a lousy job. If you like it, good for you. I don't go around calling people trolls or trying to attack them for their view. But I'm not a commie woke loser like you apparently are.

Guy named Bill Callery wrote this back in the 1970s.

Such a great song. Not sure about the excessive twang she puts in there, but beautiful nonetheless.
She was great but the guy singer stank it up big time
