I get why everyone is upset right now, and I am also one of them. However, I have to say, Brian was refreshingly open and honest in this interview. I sincerely hope he can turn it around this season.

Thank you Brian! Appreciate the honesty, and I don't think the team has quit. Unfortunately I believe that the talent level of the squad is simply not up to par.

Using his own words, “we gotta have faith in the guy leading this team”. At this point in the season I have more faith in the fact that Phoenix Az will have a monsoon in the next two weeks, than a victory by the Sounder in the same time frame! The time for change is here, if not now then the vote at the end of the season will be profound! My glass is half full, but that doesn’t mean it won’t become empty real soon.

      Changing coaches won't fix anything.
Either the players who are here simply play better or we get new people on the field. That's it.
I hate the mentality in sports of "the buck ultimately stops with the coach". No it doesn't. Sometimes (like in this case) the buck hasn't even reached the coach because it's still on the pitch.
The buck stopped with Baker letting the winger get in behind him.
It stopped with Christian playing a bad ball/idea to Jordan.
It stopped with Steph literally getting meg'd on the second goal and not reacting on time to the first one.

@@zachrichardson5581stop trynna bail out schmetzer, our attack has been more boring than it’s ever been, it’s usually not creative and we score some goal cuz of player quality and not cuz of good tactics, plus we have the most red cards in the mls, as well as a lot of leads blown. Which comes down to Schmetzer wanting to take out attackers and park the bus from the 70th minute

@@zachrichardson5581the coach is the first one responsible for all these red cards. The coach is responsible for tactics and formations. The coach is responsible for not benching players who aren’t producing
The 4-5-1 is no long a formation that works for us. We got rid of Nico, because supposedly he was the problem last year. Sadly, he was an issue. But, so is, the coach, our formation, too many young players not being sold/traded, not incentivizing players who are hungry, etc…
In the current scenario, the coach is the first move. Sigi is a perfect example

@@zachrichardson5581coach makes 1.5-2 million a year. If he didn’t matter, the fire him and hire a Joe schmo for peanuts. Some people either haven’t played and/or coached at an advanced level. The coach doesn’t matter is absolutely absurd.

@@destroyer8420 so then explain to me why we've shown at times we can be very potent offensively.
Like 5 goals vs Montreal or scoring 3 vs Philly.
How can that occur if the coach and the tactics remain the same?
Think of it like a math problem where you leave one variable unchanged and get various outcomes. It means there are OTHER variables that matter more.
Weird right it's almost like like THE COACH ISN'T RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC QUALITY OF PLAY BETWEEN THE LINES.

Brian you still have not successfully one in rsl's home and the fact that you defend your goalkeeper that has not recorded a single win in his 10-year career with us is absolutely utterly embarrassing so I don't want to hear any excuses yes we have won a lot of games but now let's talk about the losses

Schmetzer, this isn't church lol. Instead of "believing" things will turn around, you need to actually make changes to turn around the form. I'm tired of watching such an uninspired team. Us fans deserve better than what we're getting. Just look at the attendance to the matches, and it will show you that the team is not doing well enough for people to pay to show up to watch it.

The Seattle Sounders' performance in the 2023 season showed a challenging period for the team, with fluctuating match ratings and a notable exit in the U.S. Open Cup's round of 32. Despite these hurdles, the team's history of resilience and adaptability suggests a potential for recovery and improvement. The introduction of young players into the lineup is a common strategy in sports, aiming to build a future core team, even though it may come with growing pains. Coach Brian Schmetzer's approach, focusing on player relationships and tactical flexibility, has been a hallmark of his tenure. While the shift to exclusive streaming on the Apple Network has changed how fans access games, and many are not happy with it, it reflects a broader trend in sports broadcasting. The journey ahead for Schmetzer and the Sounders is a reminder of the ever-present stakes in the world of sports, where every game is an opportunity to redefine the narrative. As for or subscription, If it were not for Lionel Messi joining Inter Miami, and the games they play we would have cancelled our subscription to Apple’s MLS Season Pass.

Brian “we are going to have to change something.” No Brian we have to change many things!
The 4-5-1 didn’t work last year.
Jordan is not a winger and the 4-5-1 doesn’t suit him.
We aren’t scoring start sitting players.
Brian step down. The team has already quit on you! Look at the lack of scoring and all our red cards. Look at our blown leads. Mostly look at the fact we can’t beat some of the worst teams in the league!

Stop parking the bus on a 1-0 lead. Stop playing slow build up play. The team is much better on the counter or long balls. Maybe a 4-4-2 with CR7 in the midfield.
