    this is not a powerful kit, I installed the 36v, 450 watt version of this kit onto a 26" wheel mountain bike. This kit, with charged batteries will go right around 20mph on flat ground and decrease as the batteries go down. This is a helper motor and not enough power to go up hills by itself, it enables you to pedal up those hills with effort as without, your walking. My biggest complaint about this is how loud the motor is and its loudest at 17 mph and up. Im using a 10ah 36v battery, the range is horrible, with hills around lucky to get 8 miles, and the brackets did not fit at all, I have to basically fabricate new brackets and the kit location, you will hit your back of your foot on the motor, I mounted it up behind. If you like diy on a budget you can try it, other than that I would recommend just using a hub style kit, much easier and better performance.

    Thanks for posting this and doing such a great explaination. I just finished a mid mount kit on my bike, but I was looking at the outboard motor for another bike as an inexpensive project. I like the 250W/36V motors as we can use surplus scooter LiPo batteries for them.

    I'm pretty sure that is the wrong plate, that one is for the right side. The long slot allows it to slide towards the front and back.
    The plate is not symmetrical. Therefore the same plate does not go on either side, they should be different plates. That is, unless it's just weird.
    Apparently they (whoever they is) never bothered to redraw/redesign the plate when they decided to apply it to the left side of the bike.

    I fitted locking nuts on my sprocket !!!! I bought 2 kits for 2 bikes !!! The only problem is the kit can be difficult to fit !!!! But that doesn't bother me !!! The thing I like is that you don't have to buy an expensive battery to fit a computerised system. You can use Lithium or lead acid and you only have 2 leads off the battery unlike a multi pin plug in unit on a bought E Bike !!!!

    why doesnt anyone tests this up on a 10degree uphill?

    • @majorepajore1137
      @majorepajore1137 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I had tested 250 watt motor on 45° uphill, speed had reduced to 3 kmph and motor outer cover temperature went around 90°c. Again tried with two people on one cycle and motor started to burn in the middle of the hill which is around 100m long. But I still use the motor without any issue. This motor can handle around 25 amps of current for about 1 - 2 minutes (in 2 people overloaded condition) . In normal condition this motor takes around 19 amps starting and 7-10 amps running current in flat road with 2 x 12.6v lead battery.

      The kit is approx $125. You can find it on ebay-36V-450W-Ebike-Left-Drive-Electric-Bike-Conversion-Kit-Hub-Motor-E-Bicycle-Kit. Also, I recommend using Lithium-ion battery instead. Check out part II of the video. I did a power upgrade to Lithium-ion. I paid around $140 for the battery--36V @30AH. th-cam.com/video/c6YgNQg3VM8/w-d-xo.html.

    • @karmalord212

      You can't increase the power of an ebike with a computer chip. What determines the power of the bike is the motor's wattage, so you'd need to switch to a higher wattage motor and allow the battery to sustain for it.

      The DC motor runs on DC current. Batteries put out DC voltage output. If it was an AC motor, it would not work. You will need an inverter to convert DC to AC to drive the AC motor. Thanks!

      Check out part II of the video, th-cam.com/video/c6YgNQg3VM8/w-d-xo.html. I recommend lithium-ion battery pack because they are lighter and has more power density. However, they are more expensive than the lead acid batteries. Also, be careful when buying lithium-ion battery packs, some sellers are dishonest about the battery capacity rating. Even the one in the video might not have its true capacity as several viewers pointed out. Check out buyer reviews before purchasing. Best wishes. Thanks!
