Thanks for the video, it's actually helpful but my Rav4's door are still locked. Emergency key doesn't open. lt turns right in the key hole but doesn't open the door, l have to call a recovery

Thanks for this. I was trying to reach my kids how to get out of a trunk if ever in that situation... And then realized my RAV4 didn't have a latch or button or anything!! I thought all cars after 2000 were supposed to have that....

On a RAV4 with a manual hatch door (not powered), I wonder if there’s a way to setup or tie a cord to that lever, drill a small hole on that plastic cover and run the cord out of the hole. This way from inside, you could easily pull the small cord to open the hatch door easily…???
Most likely. I might look into it. I like cheap but reliable hacks. Also I like easy. But having to undo a screw makes me think it's an either/or situation... I am thinking about what if someone blocked you in or and the hatch was the only way out. Also you could have just awakened to a surrounding fire and the hatch was your salvation... But then again, if you have children.........

Is there a way to stop the RAV4 from indicating that the trunk door is open when it is closed? Someone hit me from behind, the trunk can’t open but it is showing as open in the dashboard. The car is beeping all time .
Its nice too know its near impossible for the person you kid napped cant get out. 😂🤣

There is no lever under my car’s center hatch. The plastic cover is the same. No lever there anywhere.
There is also a switch on the dashboard below steering wheel.

Did you ever open the trunk on your 2017? I do have this problem with a 2017 Le.. buttons outside don't work, keys don't open it and I even took the whole panel inside to look for a handle or something to open it, there's nothing else I can find

You need to push and hold the lever at the same time to open the door.
Did you manage to open it? My boot is not opening despite following instructions.
@@MorozovAutomotive Did not work. It seems to me that the power is needed to even move this door. Anyways, one day the Power Back Door worked again and then after a few days it's back to stuck in open position and I have to manually close it again. I think I should have reset it while it was open but I did not. So I'm here waiting for it again to work on it's own. Mine is very likely software issues.
@@szymonbakota2893 NO. However, one day the night before I was about to bring it to dealership, I tried to use the power backdoor using the button under the steering wheel and it worked again. However, after a few days, it got stuck again in the open position and I have to close it manually. I think mine is more of a software issues and have to be reset. I didn't reset mine before closing the door so now it's not working again and I'm waiting for it work again on its own. I'll wait for a couple days because I think it will eventually reset itself.
I did the same thing, and I could hear the mechanical latch opening or releasing. Still, I could not push the liftgate open with both hands on the handles of the liftgate from the inside. By the way, this instruction is also shown in the Toyota's RAV4 2019 Owner's Manual. I have 2019 RAV4 Adventure with power liftgate.

And how they move the power seats to reach it in the back with a dead battery, really I don’t understand
How do you move the seats to get to the rear cargo ?

@@MorozovAutomotive but the front are power and to reach rear seats you need to open rear doors and they are power too but maybe for le trim
@@mustaphan9121 You can unlock rear doors from the inside by flipping the switch near the door handle.

How about to open from outside? Battery is dead
When the battery is dead, you can't open the rear door from the outside. It uses electric actuator which requires power to operate.
