Ford/New Holland 1715 tractor Damaged PTO shaft diagnosis

- I put a new clutch in this tractor a while back, and it's been working real good for its owner. But then she hooked up a 3 point roto-tiller, and unbeknownst to her, the PTO driveshaft was too long so when she fully lifted the 3 point, it forced the PTO shaft back into the tractor case. The owner called me in when the usual fixes didn't work, so we'll tear it down and have a look inside to see what the damage is.
That's going to cost more than the tractor is worth. Ouch
*that sucks! specially since that one has a front end loader on it too bad the loader won't work on anything else. hopefully you can find her the replacement bits and get her back under way again soon*
Yeah, She felt so angry at herself about it happening, but I told her this sort of thing falls under "Sh*t happens"! Yeah, it really sucks, and the repair is going to hurt, but just learn from it and move on. I won't charge near as much for the labor since I'll make videos of the job, so that will help out a bit. And no option is off the table at this point. I'll even be looking for a used case in the aftermarket as I can only imagine what they want for a new casting. It will be bad enough that we have to buy a bunch of other parts like bearings, gaskets, etc to do the job so anywhere we can save her a few bucks will help.

Where you able to get the tractor back working again? I'm having a PTO problem as well with the same model tractor. The PTO will not turn once engaged and chokes the engine off If I let it. Thanks for the Video- at least I know where to start to see what could be causing the issue.
Yes, I got it fixed. On yours, if you have the tractor shut off, and in Neutral, can you turn the PTO shaft freely? or does it bind? It sounds like maybe a bearing failed and got caught up in the PTO gears. Just a thought.
@@MacGyversWorkshop Hi- I just remove the lifting plate ( i think that's what you called it) and found one of the PTO gears sheared pretty good. Is there anyway I can reach out to you via email or phone call for another question I have?
I have a new holland 1725 with the same symptoms. Did you find a fix
@@dlazorchak I ended up replacing two damaged PTO gears and went ahead and replaced both bearings to keep from coming back later. I hit 1 too many 3-inch saplings with my mower and a few teeth finally sheared which got stuck in the driver gear and broke teeth as well.
