How ETABS Consider Seismic Weight Of The Last Floor?

  • In this very important tutorial, we want to see how ETABS works with the last floor and its seismic weight in calculations. Many engineers are not aware of this important issue and make mistakes in designing staircase columns and design weak columns. If the weight of the last floor is less than 25% of the weight of the lower floor, the earthquake force should not be applied to the last floor, and the height of the last floor should not be taken into account in the calculations of the period of the structure, but the seismic weight of the last floor should be considered in the calculations of the earthquake force.

    If possible make a detailed video on earth quake analysis in a building that includes both linear static and linear dynamic analysis and scaling of base shear.
