- In this video i show how to model a portal frame steel building using Autodesk Revit.
This includes adding all steel components to create a portal frame building with mezzanine floor and all steel connections.

The best simple, straightforward, and detailed tutorial. Please keep going!
Great video....i like you can continue the example adding the detail drawings with typical or custom templates view properties
Brilliant Revit Structure video -Thanx
Still waiting for the part 2. Thanks for the lessons!
Awasome 👏👏👏👏
thanks from mex
Please cover braced frames, especially tube shaped diagonals. There are a lot of nuances to establishing workpoints for diagonals such as bottom of beam flange and face of column flange.
A good detailing especially for the steel connections for the steel frames(beams and columns) all round. I learnt a thing or two. #StructuralDetailing
Thank you
Very cool content. Thanks.
Thanks to much
Thank you very helpful
Will you do a part 2 and 3?
Excelent video!!
Thank you
Great!
Thanks.
Could you do a multi-storey building tutorial? It may be a small building. From now on, I would like to thank Brazil.
Great Tutorial dude
Thanks!
thanks sir very interesting
So nice of you
Nice video. what about detailed drawings of the elements?
Kindly share. The part 2 of this video .. because I really need it..
Thank for the video. It would have been very helpful, if you had made 3 videoes to slow down the speed to understand the connection details instead of one full video which I have found it very difficult to follow. Thanks once again and your work appreciated!
Nicely done! When can we expect part 2? Currently I use Advance Steel 2018 and would like to model my projects in Revit and then export to Advance for the structural shop drawings and then back too Revit for general arrangement drawings.
Thanks!
Really, interesting
Great job, When is part 2 and 3 coming?
Thank you sir.
Could you please tell me how to add/load new anchor type?
Excellent video
This guy has no idea what he is doing. You can not erect this building as detailed using end plates since the columns will be erected then the beams.
He obviously has never detailed a real steel building. Unfortunately revit structural detailing is the lost leading the lost
Great video, where's part 2?
Do you have tutorials or playlist giving a break down of structural anatomy?
Any video about how to detail holes on steel profiles?
Is there a part 2?
Your very good at drawing... Maybe I should just get you to draw it for me.
Good one.. Ovelarry explained good but because it is lengthy video...it made me bore.. But want to learn Structural Designing
Hi sir.I know how to use the autocad and I wanna learn how to use Revit.i'm planning to work as a draft person .from what topic or where should I start on Revit? Thank you
when is the part 2 coming up?
how do I load all those variety of connections
The work plane that you specify at the top of the roof truss 5:12 is impossible to set, i've tried multiple times and it will not sit there
hi Jonathan, I'm wondering how are you able to change the bolts and plates colour?
Yes, there are filters inside the conection in visability graphics to control this
where is the 2nd part ?i cant find it
Hello, still waiting for the part two of this after some years
perfection cannot be rushed
@@bim-things 🤣
for some reason I dont have the connection's list do you know why?
you need to add the connections to the project - knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2019/ENU/Revit-Model/files/GUID-A2C4E1CB-E297-476E-B465-5FEF9AD252C6-htm.html
What family of elements are u using? where can I download it? Great video btw :)
There all are the standard install familtes that come with the UK install.
@@bim-things ok thanks :)
Can we generate NC files and the fabrication drawings directly from Revit? without tekla or advance Steel?
No this is not possible
i have loaded the connections, but when i drop down generic connection it doesnt show up, instead its there seperately as structur connection and it is not connecting to the steeel column, why is that?
Probably the beams are not suited to the connection
what about a roof with hip?
Can any one pls tell , from where to download this revit structure software2019 version .thanks in advance
you will need to login to your autodesk account and from the Revit downloads section you can choose previous versions
When is part 2 with the detailing part Jonathan?😁
Probably never now
@@bim-things I hear ya
Where is the 2nd part?
Great presentation but you are going a bit too fast. You have the continuation for the detailing?
Volume please
Please use tapered column in your next video. Or anyone know how to add connection on tapered column plz help me with it.
@@bim-things still we use tapper column in steel structure. so its important to connect ?
Yea i can made in family easily but need to show the bolts and plates.
Thanks for help
It's very good, but how you are going to show these details in sheet???
i will create a tutorial for this
Eagerly waiting....
Все хорошо, если бы не так плохо.
Спасибо
Hi everyone I did that 10:28 but my connection's bolts takes from flange to flange I don't know why... cuz I've selected the same type Knee of frame bolted with haunch connection. SOLVED!! I was choosing the wrong bolt type
I get the same problem. The bolts are too long(flange to flange at steel column). May I know how to solve it?
@@kimlui88 go to edit connection type/vertical bolts/1. set out= Middle
@@luisb2253 Thank you. I just solved it after you gave me the hint.
I did by:
edit connection type->bolt->unselect "Bolt on gauge line"-> adjust #2. Horizontal distance.
The 5th submittal still comes back revise and resubmit....
The engineer keeps making changes.....
When is enough enough and ask to get paid for the extra time and endless submittals? At a certain point there needs to be change orders happening with detailing time factored in, am I right?
Also....
All dimensions are preliminary (vif), I need hard dimensions to detail beams, columns, rise/runs etc... Why would I move onto detailing specific members and pieces until the anchor bolt plan, general arrangements, and sections have all field measurements done? It seems insane to me to have to go back and keep touching every beam, column, plate, hole, miter, etc. For a submittal that the contractor hasnt even field measured.....
Wow, people actually use this rather than Tekla Structures for steel detailing?
Where is the Sheets? Where is the detailing to fabrication for beams, columns and marks? Where is the BOM?
Fill your boots
@@bim-things I am goingo to Advance Steel... Revit can not achieve fabrication level of details...
@@regisxnaldochatodanet6638 Yes Revit can but its very slow and painful. Advance is a much better choice for fabrication as more is automated
The video is not working, sound is ok and the ads play ok but the video unwatchable.
