Great video. I almost met my maker on my 790R, in street mode, on a rural road on the way home from a weekend ride. Going round a corner on what was great asphalt at probably 90-100kmh came across a trench of a pothole that we tend to get here is South Africa. I had a fraction of a second to react and blipped the clutch and banged on the power trying to lift the front as one would do when riding in the dirt. Nada! I just managed to make the front 'lite enough' to get over with a wobble or so after. I tend to ride in street and rain modes only on roads i know now. For the rest, rally mode at 4 or 5 slip, with more predictable street throttle setting works for me.
Yep, I hear ya...hopefully this video will point that out to some people. Yes on the 790 I used Street throttle too, on the 890 Rally throttle has been smoothed out.. Cheers.
Great video. I’m really enjoying your riding mode comparison videos. Can I please ask what folding mirrors you have and whether they work better for you than doubletake mirrors, if you have tried them? Thank you. Edited - I found your accessories video. That is brilliant although I now want some things I didn’t even know existed!
glad you're enjoying the videos....yes I prefer these $20 mirrors (much less bulky on the bars), on my last ride I cracked one, when I got home I just screwed a new end piece on. ten bucks well spent :) Yes, there are lots of good things a real adventure bike needs eh
@@890RallyAdventureR on my 790, in offroad mode, it lifts a lot, almost to the break-even point. but upon reaching a certain degree of incline, it cuts off the throttle automatically. (translated)
Ive been using street throttle map with rally level 4 on average unless in sand then the same street throttle map and rally slip 1 . I find the rally throttle map to be very aggressive. Is there a benefit to rally throttle response? Thank you for your hard work in these videos
Hi, on my 790 I rode mostly in street throttle as Rally throttle was a bit jerky, but on the 890 it's much smoother so I ride in Rally throttle (and way more fun that way!). Maybe on clay I'd go to street throttle and up the slip control. Glad you enjoy the videos, cheers.
We need more of these straight to the point videos! Great one mate, thanks!
Glad you got something from it, cheers :)
A huge thank you for pulling these together. This video and the side by side mud runs were really informative. Keep up the great work! Cheers
Thanks Guy, good to know others also find it interesting in understanding these electronic aids in a visual way, cheers
Very informative & well produced video
Thanks Carlos...I try :)

On my 890-R, you have to be in "offroad" mode with MTC= "off". I don't have rally mode installed.
Ah, yes...I had Rally mode on my 790R, and the Rally also comes with it, good for off-road conditions. (Sand is next in this TC series)

@@xlskins yes, I dont ride in off road mode much, but I think you need traction control off to do a balance wheelie, cheers
Please let me know , you can use rally mode on off-road and put the level #1 and do wheelies?
Hi, yes you can wheelie in TC1 :)

@@890RallyAdventureR your videos are super helpful
@@pigeonpallz1733 Thanks, I try to make them on the things I play around with, or wonder about as I ride :)
Did you disabling MTC while in the other modes?
No, I believe
it only intervenes if you are leaning over.
