Several of these had more than one answer. Also, could the time limit be shortened? Waiting 6-7 seconds each time is very frustrating. Btw, I got 100%. But they were ridiculously easy😊
She invited several friends - I think "she invited many friends" would be correct also. Who agrees? The SCARY cat climbed up the tree or the SCARED cat climbed up the tree? A scared cat climbing up the tree makes much more sense. Also other questions have more than one correct answer.
Agreed, I got 39/40 with some luck as there were a couple where I could have chosen a different 'correct' answer. Q 15 could have been 'no' or 'no more', I chose 'no more' and got it wrong.....go figure. There are others, as pointed out in previous posts.
You are absolutely correct! I've never failed a grammar test in my life and honestly, I was flummoxed at times with this dismal failure of a "grammar," test, because I was just trying to "guess" what the "right" answer would be! Bloody stupid. Cheers.
In the old days, we studied honestly, sincerely and more importantly with respect to teachers. S - Sincere C - Courage H - Honest O - Obedient O - Obedient L - Learn Obedient is so important, it's why it was emphasized 2 times, then only learning comes. We were also mischief with the teachers during our school career but when studies came all of us including teachers were very strict.
For #22, The SCARED cat climbed up the tree is a better answer. The SCARY cat climbed up the tree is also good if the cat was as puma or a bobcat, i.e. one that could do you harm or would frighten you.
I respectfully disagree. There were several questions with more than one answer depending on the tense, i.e., past or present. Not ideal for beginners, at all. Cheers.
I respectfully disagree. There were several questions with more than one possible answer. This mess would be more confusing than ever to non-native English speakers, in my opinion. Cheers.
The 'scary' cat is wrong, it's the 'scared' cat climbed the tree. English speakers typically say film instead of 'movie'. She decided to 'leave' her job, 'quit' is American, & there is the preposition of 'to' before the verb. She has gone to the store (past), or she is going to the store (future), adding 'at the moment' is clunky & erroneous. They worked for hours until they found A solution, singular. 'Have' you been to Canada, & 'had' you been to Canada are both correct, dependent on context. He 'played' tennis every weekend & he 'plays' tennis every weekend are both correct tenses.
38/40 {I was able to come up with the answer within 3 seconds.} No wonder newcomers who learn to speak English properly may have some confusion with tenses required between the subject and predicate ❤
Not bad because many languages stick the verb at the END of sentences. I mean running scared and scared running to me mean different things I mean how to differentiate? Sure. The first means I'm scared but the second means I don't wanna run.
As an English teacher, I have to comment on a word in your sample sentence. "Everyday" is an adjective, as in an everyday chore. "Every day" is an adverb used to show "when" something is done. This is a common mistake, much like combining "back" and yard" . "Backyard" is an adjective, as in "a backyard barbecue", but "back yard" is an adverb, as in "We're going to barbecue in the back yard." Another common mistake.
For #23, I think it is better to say: She decided on quitting her job and travel the world. Answer "C" could also apply if you reconstruct the sentence thus: She decided to quit her job and travel the world.
I have issue with a few of these: #22 The 'scary' cat climbed up the tree. OR The 'scared' cat climbed up the tree. Both are correct depending on how it is meant. #33 She found a 'lost' key on the floor. OR She found a 'loose' key on the floor. Both could be correct depending on how 'She found the key'. #35 She 'has' a lot of experience in her field. OR She 'had' a lot of experience in her field. Both could be correct depending on whether 'She' is past tense or present tense. #39 He 'plays' tennis every weekend. OR He 'played' tennis every weekend. Both could be correct depending on whether 'He' is past tense or present tense. Each one of these sentences could be read differently by the reader and are not definite in structure without more context. However, I did enjoy the test.
The same applies to "She ______ going to the concert tonight." The answer could be "is" or "was" (before she changed her mind?) Depends on the circumstances.
Question 10 has two correct answers.. several and many. How does the answered know how many friends are invited without knowing beforehand? Several is more than two but so are many more than two it depends upon one's point of view. Yeah do I have 3 friends or a 100 friends?
#27 is a little awkward. It would be better to construct the sentence this way: "They worked for hours before they found a solution." or "They worked for hours before they found solutions."
Question: #3: Answer C also correct. #10: Answer C also correct. #15: Answer C also, if having recently spent it all. #19: When referring to events that occur daily, as the sentence does, we would spell "every day" as two words. When spelled as one word, we refer to events that are normal, ordinary, or routine. For example "He decided to wear just his everyday suit to the party." #21: Answer B also. #22: Answer B seems more likely. #23: "To quit" her job. #27: "found THE solution." #33: Answer C also. If she was going to the concert, but had to cancel #35: Answer C also. #39: Answer A also.
Same with the sentence about having a lot of experience in her field. Are you talking present or past? It could be either "has" or "had" or even "has had" - depending.
When I grew up in the 50's we had grammar classes and did diagraming of sentences. We were taught to take something to another place and bring something back to home. Now all I ever hear is "I will bring it to your house" rather than I will take it to your house. Maybe the use of bring and take has changed over the decades but to me it is a grammar error that I hear all the time.
CORRECTIONS:
#11 He has more books than I.
#22 The scared cat climbed up the tree.
#24 She decided to quit her job!
Got them all correct🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great job, Margie! 💯👏
Absolutely, thanks for making these corrections. These tests are too easy, by the way.
Several of these had more than one answer. Also, could the time limit be shortened? Waiting 6-7 seconds each time is very frustrating. Btw, I got 100%. But they were ridiculously easy😊
I KNEW those were wrong! For what it's worth, I've read around 2000 books in my 67 yrs, which is probably why I got 100% 🙂
She invited several friends - I think "she invited many friends" would be correct also.
Who agrees?
The SCARY cat climbed up the tree or the SCARED cat climbed up the tree?
A scared cat climbing up the tree makes much more sense.
Also other questions have more than one correct answer.
I agree, it's the only "mistake" I made.
Ditto on those 2 questions@@olgaheij8305
I agree
right ! a lot of ??? had a multiplied answers 😅
I agree - it could have been either answer to both questions!
Too easy for me
40/40, at least 5 questions could have more then one correct answer
@@paulywhit2783 - More than one answer, not then.

@@hjorleifuringason2778 sorry. They only have one answer. Your answer makes me think you may need to review verbs and superlatives.
@@beaded53185I disagree, take question 10, can you not invite SEVERAL friends? I usually get very good scores in these tests. In this case 99%
@@beaded53185 You are mistaken! He/She is correct. Scared or scary cat, invited several or many guests, have or had finished their work, etc.

In the answers option, there is no word 'to' in any option. So, 'quitting' is correct, I feel..
She decided to quit, or she decided on quitting. She decided quitting is not correct.
