Very nice dishes - I've just cut some 40mm Iroko to make some. Confirm the one must be a bit smaller to fit inside the other? What I've done is cut the wings to a little bigger than finished size as I'm petrified when there's long sharp wings turning at about 1400 RPM!!
The one must be just a little smaller. Just a couple of mm probably. Mine fit by chance. I also ended up cutting the long points off. It was out of balance to get the speed up. Equal lateral triangle would work great I bet.😊
Why did you use a screw chuck for one and a mortice for the other? I have never used a screw chuck as yet but will try soon - I've only been woodworking and turning for a year now so still learning.
@@GavinConwayWoodworkBBQ I usually use a wood worm screw and that is just a habit. It also works very well. That is why I used it on the first bowl. I decided to use a mortice on the second one as I see many turners do that and I also thought it may be a bit quicker. Also wanted to mix it up and show 2 ways. I also edited both different. Thanks for watching and asking. Keep it up. 😊😊

Nice work Rob. They look great with the candy in them. And with the snow in the background.
Snow is something we get very little of around here.

@@copperowlwoodturning5929 But making it like you did is a brilliant shape instead of being all 3 wings the same. Brilliant idea - thanks for sharing.
