Dwight is so funny! He must have a zillion stories. Love his songs today as much as I did when I first heard him. Just the best!! Thanks, Dwight and thanks for this video.
Have loved Dwight and his big head since...I saw him on the promo tour for his first album. He did so much visual theater with his clothing, posture, and persona, then he piled on great visceral music that I couldn't ignore. It pulls me from the back of my mind, still. I just love how his voice is unlike anyone else's voice. You know it when you hear it, no maybe about it.
Because he's a master storyteller painting a vivid image of the subject of his songs in your mind. You can see into the perspective of the song's subject. Look at songs like Two Doors Down, I Sang Dixie, I Hear You Walking , If There Was a Way, 1,000 Miles, etc. His songs also have depth of emotion whether sad, happy, lonely, longing, etc. He has really clever phasing, and one of the best voices in music. I've had several friends say that they didn't like his twang and cracking style when I introduced them to his music ... for some reason, they turn on it and end up loving it. You wanna make people fans, lace some of the more accessible Dwight songs into your party play list. I guarantee your friends will ask who he is if they don't already know. Some artists and sing ballads, some can sing rockers, he can sing everything. Unlike much of current country music which is a single layer, you peal vack the layers when you listen to Yoakam. Bottom line ...interesting songs played really well. F man, the guy took a Horton song and made it his own...
We listen Mr. Yoakam because it speaks to our hearts and souls, because it brings us joy and happiness, when our worlds are falling apart with thoughts of everything from what am I here for to our children getting cancer and we don't know why.We listen to your music and for a few hours we can put our worries to rest for a bit. Thank you for your years of beautiful music. Please don't stop making It.
When it comes to putting a pen to paper Dwight is the best hands down. His songs doesn't touch my heart, they touch the depth of my soul like no other has before. Dwight's acting is definitely Oscar worthy just as well. I love this man for over 30yrs and will continue to do so until I draw my last breath. 💜💜
One of the few iconoclasts in the music business who never folded for the suits. Dwight's unique take on life shimmers through every song, every lick, every lyric. And always with humor...intelligence, irony, and integrity. Cowpunks rule...sometimes!
Dwight you are what makes country music worth listening to..you are true to your followers becauce you are true to your music...PERFECTION AT ITS BEST...THANK YOU FOR SO MANY YEARS OF TRUE COUNTRY MUSIC
Funny story! ... and Dwight, that happy feeling one gets from listening to your incredible voice, your songs and music, especially at your concerts, is addictive!
Dwight, I grew up listening to you, and you remain one of my many favorite artists who changed country music in a critical era that was seeking change. You therefore are a legend. So much so that my children (12 and 10) are now asking for your songs on their "devices". Rock on...
I grew up in the midwest and it was not common for kids to listen to country music, but I kept listening and enjoying older type country music an wishing the new artists were playing better music. I had to overlook its goofy image. I ran across Dwight in 1986, I believe. He was on a TV show about up and coming country musicians who were about to change country music. There were two others on the show, one being Randy Travis and I can't remember the third. I liked both of them but it was Dwight who blew me away. I've been a fan ever since. It's amazing that he continues to make such interesting and innovative music over the years when so many others fade away. I'm a fan for life.
I listen to anything that sounds good. Indie, punk, new wave, electronic, classic rock, and yes country. Dwight Yoakam has always been one of my favorites...
I have been a fan since 1986. I'll never forget some of the nights my dad and I spent listening to Guitars, Cadillacs. We knew from day one that here was one of the greatest country singers of all time. A truly unique artist. Fans come and go but some fans are there all along. My fave DY album is Population Me. It's way overlooked.
I can't believe he doesn't get it. I do NOT like country music. I'm a rock fan but I adore Dwight and his music. And I'm not alone. A lot of my fellow rockers are Dwight fans as well. There is something...I can't explain it..but it's there for us rock listeners. And everyone else as well it seems. Keep the music coming Dwight...you made us wait a LONG time for new material.
You are so right Dwight... We listen "coz you sound is "honest, interesting" to which I would add "original.. and loads of that X factor ... I can't say what that is, but touches us to the core of our heart...with Love from India...
Great Voice Your Music Is Awesome You Bring Us Amazing Country Music That Sounds Different And Makes Us Want To Hear More That's Why We Love It DY Music To Our Hearts
Dwights audience is so diverse b/c his song are just fucking real and hes talented. Any musician thats real and talented I can enjoy and appreciate. I usually only listen to country music but I enjoy and appreciate any talented GENUINE artist
Nobody else on the face of the earth does what Dwight does, nor can they! Every single thing he does is uniquely Dwight whether it is an original or a cover. True enough Pete Anderson was a huge part of that hard driving rockabilly guitar sound, and I loved it. BUT take away the lights, the band, the skin tight jeans and the whole Dwight look, give him an acoustic guitar and a mic and he can play anything from a tear your heart out ballad like She Wore Red Dresses to Guitars, Cadillacs and the music still turns me on! Stripped of everything but Dwight, the music still speaks for itself. It is a product of the genius that is Dwight Yoakam and of his great love of music. He does not offer music he does not love, and that is why his fans love everything he does. Offered with love, received with love. Real simple....
Yes Dwight - don't analyze, somethings can not and do not need analyzed. Just sing from the heart & soul like you do. I know why I listen -somehow your lyrics and voice "speak" to me. Other times I just need to rock out - so Thank You - from the Heart.
Let’s see! Why do people listen to Dwight? He has one of the best voices-ever, he’s so talented, very good looking, smart, funny and then there is those legs ❤️❤️❤️
He's just cool. period

Absolutely amazing artist to see in person, bucket list stuff.
I said the same thing Kenny! Today I just purchased tickets to his upcoming show in Michigan. Taking my Dad for his Christmas present.
This was so funny I almost choked on my tea!! Everybody loves Dwight!!! Even my heavy metal husband. Dwight transcends boundaries. He's the BEST!

So down to earth and always displays a sense of friendliness! He seems to have respect for his fans, and there are many!

Dwight Yoakam was to country music in the 80s as Buck Owens was in the 60s.
And from what I can tell a great man too.
I listen to anything that sounds good. Indie, punk, new wave, electronic, classic rock, and yes country. Dwight Yoakam has always been one of my favorites...

You are such a humble, awesome, funny, sexy guy. You got it all babe and WE appreciate you still wanting to play for us too!
He's authentic
The Cramps kick so much ass.
One day Dwight might learn to sing and play a gittar
Tom Petty and Dwight always seemed a lot alike
I like Tom Petty, but he doesn't hold a candle to Dwight.
