Compass Box Flaming Heart 6th Edition is made up of individual single malts but also some of Compass Box's own blends eg "Highland Malt Blend" and "Spice Tree Extravaganza" I worked out all of the cumulative components for you. 39.5% Caol Ila 28.7% Deanston 23.4% Clynelish 2.4% Glen Ord 2.3% Dailuaine 2.3% Teaninich 1.3% Benrinnes 0.2% Allt a Bhainne
OK, I'm getting confused. I have tasted Deanston 12, Clynelish 14 and Compass Box Spice Tree (which I really like) but never noticed any peat. Does the peat come from the Calo Ila which has the majority of percentage. I'm assuming the Flaming Heart has some peat notes.
This was simply the best blind tasting I have ever seen. Pure, honest, and just damn good whisky tube!! Committed to whisky Mystery here, as this was just amazing!!!! Your journey has taken you so very far friends, I enjoy the vicarious pleasure of this experience! 🥃🥃🥃❤️
Great episode! I don’t usually get to watch the streams live during the work day, but couldn’t miss this one and it has all of your channel’s best characteristics. Excellent analysis, many moments of good humor, and a compelling sense of suspense. I like that this blind tasting with these select premium bottles is a good change of pace for the channel. Really stands out to me like the Compass Box and SB Local Barley Shootouts. So good!
Even though it was just a brief moment, it was nice to see how different the Clynelish seemed in comparison to the rest of this heavyweight lineup. Thank you for this video
I had the chance to look into the Brora dunnage warehouses a few days before they tore down the original distillery buildings (or at least some of them). A true epiphany moment seeing very few 1970s Brora casks still stored there. 😎
Excellent tasting. Thank you for doing this. I'm happy for you that Brora won! I'll never be able to afford it, but it better be good for that price! Also, I want to say, as a bourbon fan and low key bourbon hunter, thank you for the store tours. I've followed behind you to some of these bottle shops and picked up some great bourbons that I thought I'd never find. Thank you for showing the American whiskey. One odd question if you'll forgive me. Is Deepa French?
I was pretty worried with two left to reveal :-) It can not justify the price on a flavour basis. I would say it is $500 good and $2000 for history. Oh glad to hear the store tours have helped you find some bottles. Deepa is...deaf :-) She grew up in India but learning to lipread/speak only English. We occasionally explain it on the channel but it has been a long time since we brought it up and I forget about it.
Great comparison. I have said it before that these expensive whiskies are not worth the price for the taste alone (although I remember dropping into Clynelish and being able to pick up the 25/30 year old Brora's for a couple of hundred pounds each just over a decade or so ago). It is the rarity and historical context that justifies the higher prices for me. Sorry you can not make your trip. I am off over the border tomorrow and visiting Clynelish and Pulteney on Monday.
@@WhiskyMystery And it's interesting to get a woman's perspective. I like your wife's reaction to some of the samples. It is said that a woman's sense of smell is better than a man's. I really enjoyed your blind tasting challenge. The Compass Box Flaming Heart is impossible to find now :~(
@@HolyMoley2u Deepa does not hold back an opinion :-) Flaming Heart is available here in CA (700ml version). I think they ship... www.klwines.com/p/i?i=1537174&searchId=650af618-394d-43e4-8934-1514f8c05c22&searchServiceName=klwines-prod-productsearch&searchRank=1
@@WhiskyMystery Thanks for the reply Phil. I checked with them and they do not ship spirits to my state. The ones that do are out of stock. Thanks anyway.

@@HolyMoley2u Yes a small amount of peated whisky will do that. Try adding 10% of Ardbeg 10 to a non smokey whisky and see what you think.

Thanks Graeme I sense it might be the peak of our blind experience.
Only watching this today having found your channel recently. You are rapidly becoming one of my favourite channels
Thanks WWM That was one our epics I think.

When our 22 year clynelish shows up in blind tasting we should compare again.
Great video! I was cheering from here!🥃😊
Thanks Melissa

Yeah so many magical details
Welcome back! And I have Kilkerran 16! For 83 euro it was too good to pass. :)
Oh great price

Really I would say this is a $500 bottle for taste. The rest is history surcharge. Hope you have a great trip.
Very entertaining great review of peated whisky.
Thanks. It was a great tasting

Well, I wasn’t convinced to find a Brora, but did snag a flaming heart after this. Very surprised by highland park. Thats was my guess to win.
I thought the Brora might be the HP so was surprised. Hope you like Fh
