Metallica - Live at Milton Keynes '93 [ReMastered 25th Anniversary Series]

- All Remastered 25th Anniversary shows here:
• ReMastered 25th Annive...
Band name: Metallica
Date: June 5, 1993
Venue: National Bowl
Location: Milton Keynes, England
Tour name: Nowhere Else To Roam
Other acts: Megadeth, The Almighty, Diamond Head
Filming type: Professional (Pro-Shot)
Notes:
This show is a Pro-shot recording captured from the in-house live screen feed of the venue.
Unfortunately incomplete, four songs don't have video (only soundboard audio) and the last two are completely missing.
What I did:
- I resynched the whole show with a new soundboard audio source taken from a better sounding BBC Radio Live Broadcast.
- For the parts where the video was missing I just put the SBD audio on top of some stills taken from the show.
- Lastly I upscaled the available Pro-Shot 2-DVD master source to 720p HD to ensure a higher bitrate while streaming on TH-cam.
So this should now look and sound as good as possible.
Additional notes:
Before the show the band was told by management to keep the profanity to a minimum since there would be a Live Radio Broadcast, so of course James' first words on stage were "FUCK YEAH MOTHERFUCKERS!!".
You can also hear him cuss throughout the entire show, especially in the middle jamming part of Seek & Destroy at which point the Radio Broadcast all but muted his microphone.
To keep those and some other parts intact I used the old audio source whenever something was missing from the Radio Broadcast version.
Also I need to mention, synching this particular audio source to the video was a more difficult task than usual.
For some reason the audio and video always had slight discrepancies in their playback speeds; resulting in differing lengths of what should normally be in sync.
So I had fiddle around and manually adjust each song all around about 1-2 seconds, altering their speed in order to keep them as fast as the picture.
My only guess how this came about is because the video uses the NTSC standard, which runs 29,97fps and the european radio broadcast may have followed the usual PAL standard of 25fps resulting in different playback speeds...
Anyway it wasn't easy but in the end I've felt it was worth it to make it work because the overall mix sounds much better now.
Enjoy!

I got this concert in 1999 on a cd rent store it was called Infernal Gods, the concert i like it but for some reason i always thought it was a lame concert, no sandman, they hear almost tired on the end, BUT, after finding this video on 2020, i must say this is one of the best concerts metallica ever made, (seattle 89 top for me, san diego too), but this, seeing all this energy is amazin.
Hetfield was told not to swear as it was going out live on UK radio...... it took about 10 seconds for that to backfire 😂

My uncle had a executive car company in London.. He called me one night and asked if I liked Metallica. Obviously I said yes.. Then he said we are picking them up from a hotel in Oxford street in London.. And driving them to the Milton Keynes bowl for the gig.. I said hello to lars outside the hotel. He had gone for a newspaper, and was on his way back into the hotel. He said hello back.. Thank god lol.. We then drove with three large black cars.. And me and my partner in a Range Rover.. My uncle was at the front of the convoy lol.. Also in a Range Rover. He was with the manager of Metallica. We had passes for everything. Hospitality tent, snake pit. It was a surreal day.. Nobody in the band really disliked Jason, they just couldn’t move on from Cliff’s unfortunate passing. I truly believe James actually adored him, but showed it in a very terrible way as the rest of the band by unrelentingly giving him shit.
It's a predatory thing, specially if you are fueled with alcohol, and living the dream of being in the most popular metal band at that time. Jason chose to be passive all the time. James and Lars didn't respect that, back in the day. It's like turning your back on a barking dog. Cliff only did what he wanted to do. Jason only did what THEY wanted him to do. Dayum indeed!
I remember this like it was yesterday. Myself & a bunch of mates went. We got me mum & dad to hire a minibus & take us all. Fucking amazing experience 🤘🏾
My favorite part is 5:15 when jason is playing the riff alone and lars looks back like “DAMN THATS YOU JASON?”
And all you see in the back is jason in the zone as the inner cliff comes out for the DIE DIE DIE right after
I love metallica if it wasent for them i wouldnt be into metal at all ❤️🥺
