    I have few queries,
    1) why do we mostly use Raman amplifier in counter propagation mode.
    2) How can we improve the OSNR for a given link.
    3) How do we decide for ORL value, like it should be greater than 25db or 30db. what does 25dbm or 30dbm actually mean, like how much power is reflected back?

Good explanation.... Could you please make a video on Raman amplifier and why 4 pumps are used in it?

Unfortunately, I didn`t understand one thing. When use 980nm pumping, excited electrons "live" on high level and metastable level much longer than with 1480nm pumping. That`s why they have lower chance to drop down to ground level and, vice versa, have big change to generate new photon after colliding with photon of initial signal. So, with 980nm pumping we should have lower ASE and higher stimulated emission. That makes me confused why EDFA with 980nm have less gain, when such EDFA must have higher stimulated emission.

Is there any way to have zero noise then?

      No Noise can be zero
