    picking up the svartpilen tomorrow, and yes, they are restricted for the first 1000 km to 7500 RPMS, after the first service you can access all its power at 10.000RPMS, and if you add performance mods like a full exhaust system, cat delete, and change the gearing to your preference, you can do 0-100 in 4seconds flat, or reach a top speed of 200km (maybe slightly more) which is crazy to me to think that an A2 license "small" bike can be so quick and rapid. Great video btw:)

    I own a Svartpilen 401, and absolutely love it. Both design- and performance-wise.
    But I have to tell you that your comparison is a bit flawed since the Svartpilen 401 is basically a Duke 390 with new fairings, dash and headlight ;)
    (plus quickshifter as stock, better suspension parts, different seat etc ... but technically its the same bike)
    Husqvarna is owned by KTM, and they heavily rely on the proven Duke 390 platform for the Svartpilen 401 - by the way, the engine comes from the Euro5 KTM 390 Adventure, so you can fit the 390ADV engine plate if you modify it to clear the sidestand

    Great comparison video! I'm seriously considering the Svartpilen 401 - currently on a Triumph Street Twin. The only thing that have me hesitating is the question around reliability. Quite a few online reviewers have commented on electrical issues (ABS error) and engine curling off while down shifting. I realise you probably didn't have the bike long enough to warrant a long term review but any comments generally on reliability that you may have noticed or heard? thx!

      I have my Svartpilen for 5.000km now, and I can tell you that I've had absolutely *no* issues so far. And I have ridden it in winter as well as put it through its paces offroad too, so I'm not giving it a light treatment

    • @ryanhli
      @ryanhli 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@danielhahn55 , Thanks for your insight. I sold my Triumph and got myself a 2020 Svart 401 about a month ago. Second hand so it's already past the 1000km break in period. I love the thing as I do mostly inner city riding. I do notice that I've had a handful of engine cutoff occurrences when I'm in 1st gear - clutch in and coasting in low rpm and speed. Nothing to raise a stink on but a bit annoying.

    As a potential beginner for a number of years of looking at bikes I remember seeing a 401 parked up on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne when thy first came out. I was absolutely blown away by the styling and presumed it was some completely out of reach super bike. When I found out the price I was beyond delighted. Still incredibly beautiful where as the duke is typically KTM, which in my opinion is heinously ugly. ALL OF THEM!

      @@-MANWITHN0NAME- if you mean to go jumping and doing crazy things off road I pass. In a technical note, I found the protective exhaust plate being very thin and broke mine on the first hit. I guess the bike sits too low for off road purposes. Never the less I rode during heavy rain and was very impressed with the ABS reaction, gave me confidence to push harder under those conditions.

    • @chisedevilla
      @chisedevilla 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@kanzzon I think most models of KTM 390 and Husq 401's have those problem. I own svart 401 for 5 months now and the neutral is always kind of difficult to precisely hit. But it doesn't affect my riding that much since I don't go neutral while on stoplight. You just need to have a lighter feel on finding it.

      Got my svartpilen 401 last week. Neutral is a bit tricky. I have found that second if you just light tap and release to first, it gets to neutral. If you tap deep and hold, it goes to first. From first to neutral, I am still havimg issues.
      Also, my.third gear position is giving issues. So, I am having to stomp.it from 4th to 3rd and also stomp from 3rd to 2nd. At the dealer to have a look.

    Having ridden both of these.... did you notice they lean and turn differently?
    I found that Husky 401 is locked on it's line once leaned, it just snaps into intended trajectory.
    While Duke 390 doesn't feel like that. Quite the opposite: it feels like it wants to fall more and more.
    Makes Duke quicker to change direction. But I find Husky's behaviour more novice-friendly.
    Do you agree? Do you reckon it's tyre-related or something else?
