I remember you mentioning you got a magic player to rate hearthstone cards, but noah was the very last person I was expecting, a very nice collaboration
Agreed, seeing Noah appearing in a Rarran video is like seeing one of your friends doing and interview on the news. It’s really cool, but it’s definitely not two worlds I expected to collide
Noah is the Magic the Gathering World Champ for real. It's a shame they didn't stream it and nobody wrote about it and Google forgot to record it. But it happened fr fr.
I would believe it because WoTC has killed the magic world championship many years ago. I lost all interest in it. and I watched them all from 1995 till about 2015 and even played in 2 myself.
2*2.5 vanillia icecream scoops out of 10/2 flamingoose, in a timeline where vanilla can be substituted to flamingoes, and the flamingoes as the goose leaves. Thank you.
I love how Noah IMMEDIATELY takes control of the game. Such a great and entertaining personality definitely deserves all the attention they've been getting lately! Overall I rate this video 5/5 Flamingos
it is a weird feeling watching and listening Noah actually making sense and not memeing too hard when evaluating cards, but the chaotic energy of you both is a match made in heaven. Would actually love having Noah do magic cards with Rarran and absolutely meme on him tho.
Rarran, just a reminder that you are an awesome creator, and no matter how much the youtube comments may suck, just think of all the silent enjoyers like myself that outnumber the shitty commenters 10000/1.
@@alexandresilva9811 Yeah people really downplay the effect of the "5%". Like even if it is just that, negative memories like those tend to stick around longer so it feels like significantly more. Human brains aren't really designed to take negativity from hundreds or thousands of people, we evolved in small tribes where you had to be at least amicable to pretty much anyone you interacted with.
my absolute favorite mtg content creators are cardmarket magic, they mainly do in person and paper content, but they might do a collab if youre interested. they easily make the best mtg content on youtube, and i think their energy and vibe would match super well with yours. they also do a similar thing but mainly with yugioh
This was the best one yet! It's funny how your evaluation of a card can change after you play with it. I didn't understand why Astalor was any good and didn't want to craft it for my deck. Then I saw a player use him against me to clear a minion, buy more time, then close out the game and it became very obvious why he was so good.
I have a suggestion for nerfed cards, u should ask them first to rate the unnerfed card (without disclosing that it was later nerfed) and after they guess u should show them the nerfed card and have them rate it again
I was like "oh cool I play a lot of MTG and used to play hearthstone this will be interesting". Then I saw it was noah and I immediately went "oh no, we're not gonna get a single reasonable rating are we?" When two meme lords collide.
never saw this noah guy before, but he certainly said some things that shows he knows a thing or two about card game design. So he can;t be only a meme lord
Probably the best one of these, one of my fave guests, Noah had the perfect amount of knowlage to rate cards while keeping it fun and the editor went crazy on this (while still not being intrusive), great vid Rarran!
I dont play hearthstone, i dont play magic, i dont know this noah guy, and i just somehow ended up here because of snnuy, but ill rate this video 5/5 flamingos anyway - very chaotic collab, loved it
One of my favorite things about your streams is that you not only ask the chat for recommendations, but you actually listen. I didn't expect to see a collab between you and noah but ket me tell ya it's a pleasure man keep em coming!
At the time when big shaman in wild wasnt nerfed, there were 2 playable decks in wild if you wanted to hit legend, big shaman and pirate rogue. Bootstrap Sunkeneer was included in every single pirate rogue deck in wild at that time. As much as i dont know how was the meta in standard, im quite surprised when rarran said it saw no play because i both played and saw this card being played in wild every single day during that time
20:10 idk if its the case these days but i think what really matters here isnt that ur "passing ur turn" its the fact that ur passing ur turn on turn 6. losing out on turn 1 or 2 isnt nearly as detrimental as losing out on turns 7-10 cuz ur opponent has so much more mana to punish u for skipping
One thing you forgot to mention about immolate is that it ran alongside the infamous Abyssal Curse cards. Some players would intentionally keep their hands maxed to avoid getting new curses added, which immolate could free to open up a devastating follow-up turn.
I stopped playing standard HS just a little after he did and this was very entertaining, I was totally in his shoes trying to figure out how good these cards are. GJ guys
17:48 I'm sorry to tell you Rarran but you are wrong on this one! It was pretty good in arena because if you got it on you opening hand and played nothing on turn 1 it's 3 mana 4/5 with tuant that can forces your opponent to trade 2 in 1
I love these types of videos because they're blind friendly. Game play not so much, but of course people love it. You're an awesome content creator never the less!
I don't play Hearthstone, but my evaluation of Astalor was a lot higher than Noah's for some of the reasoning he said earlier about the hidden cost of a card being that when you play it that you have one less card in your hand. A 2/2 for 2 as the floor is underwhelming, but a 2/2 for 2 that *draws a card* as the floor is pretty good. Evaluating cards through the lens of card advantage is a really good cheat sheet.
Bro, Noah's analyses were honestly so good even in the cases where his conclusion wasn't correct. He's spot on about the symphony cards, but because of the meta it ends up not being great.
I ran nerfed sire denaturing in a unholy dk deck climb to legend! He was clunky in some games but he definitely won me others, really fun card that no one was expecting lol!
Oh my god is that the top rated magic player of all time magic the Noah?? This video will go down in history as one of the videos with magic the Noah of all time.
22:13 The issue I think was that it never had a meta fit. It wants a tall meta like the embiggen meta or Big Priest. But with the new Naga tribe, the set it came out in was very wide. Even if the opponent played one big dude and passed, the best and available big dudes were colossals. Spending 5 mana to kill the head of the leviathan or xhilag left you with the problem of its appendages and no mana to destroy them, and killing Gaia or crabatoa wasn't great because they do their jobs the turn you play them anyways.
As a person that hasn't played hearthstone since long long time ago, I find these videos amazingly interesting as I can guess along side the guest and be even more wrong.
Astalor just provides so much value. If you think of that hidden cost of “lose a card” each card generates a new card, and has to be removed by your opponent (usually costing them a card in turn) course, there is so many ways to generate cards in hearthstone at this point that it isn’t that big a swing, but it’s enough of one to justify throwing this in pretty much any deck that isn’t relying on very specific minions for a combo or trying to end the game before turn 6.
Right? I don't play either game, but have watched a little of each at times and know all their respective rules. You're getting three minions with relevant (if not outstanding) statlines for one draw with this. You can either modify your deck's curve to make the mana more affordable without running out of cards in hand so easily (aggro list), not do that but need to draw two fewer cards during the game to have a play each turn, or just topdeck this on a later turn and get a lot better value than if you drew almost any other 2-drop.
I disagree with Rarran on the Symphony of Sins. It's actually super-good in Control Warlock because it can obliterate one of the biggest counters to that deck - Blood Control DK, AND it has 6 damage AoE, AND it can set up lethal. Yeah, 6 mana is a lot, but the versatility definitely pays off. It's like a ETC, but with *immediate* effect instead of 4/4 body.

I'd reduce it to more of a 4.5/5 maybe even a 4/5 due to rarran's inaccuracy for some of the cards shown.
Unfortunately none of these cards were as great colossal dreadmaw...
None could beat colossal dreadmaw, even the new phyrexia.
Or a black lothus
Colossal dreadmaw is friend with boulderfist ogre

more with this guy, please. love you two together - I'd like for him to show you some magic cards. I think that'd get a lot of us into magic tbh
Looks like he posted a link for exactly that!

Grow up. It's the internet.
As a Hazbin Hotel fan. Boy did I have a helluva ride when he was refering to Astalor as "Alastor". Made the card even scarier than it already is ngl.
You two have such a great chemistry. Noah's deadpan delivery straight into your fits of laughter is very entertaining.

Petition to fly Rarran out to Berlin to do an EDH Vid with them.
As a duels player, my instinctual reaction to seeing Astalor was one of pure rage. 8 flamebringers that deal 28 each is infuriating
Man, I can die happy after seeing this two guys in the same video.
Womp womp womp....symphony of sins is now a crazy good card in both thaddius warlock and implock, so turns out Noah's impression was right after all.
