I've felt for awhile now that nothing really justifies the cost of these newer 'top-end' markers. You get the same capabilities more or less as you do with a $400-$600 'mid range' marker. Across the board, these days you're just getting quality of life updates. I think that once tournament capable markers were introduced (along with the BPS limit) in this price range (not to mention the used markers at this price), it sorta made the higher end stuff a moot point.

@@RichardTater I tended to do that until i got a legit timmy cheater board. Then that was my event gun and I used a cocker for practice and rec. Bc why do i want to hose 4-8 cases of paint a day when I dont have to? Smashing randoms or people I know is lame.
I think the modern game forgot what holding a lane over 18bps but still getting mowed out of your bunker was like.
The rage is gone today compared to 20min half xball where you were either destroying or eating a 10pt differential.
The raw hate and black despair is mostly gone from the game bc we arent pushing teams that way any ire.
Anything can shoot 10.x with most hoppers.
I find gear today overpriced and boring.

man that thing was a game changer i still have mine in the closet minus an asa and a barrel i think the best part about when it came out was aftermarket parts were everywhere for so many guns. then the ion came out and you could change literally everything on it if i can remember correct i had mine stock for a bit except that feedneck and asa or it wasnt even an asa you just screw it in. i seen how many ways you could upgrade it so mine we sanded down the og plastic bit on the top of the gun and painted it a solid color, got a virtue board, i changed out the bolt then found out you could change the entire breach so it could be autococker threaded because my two other guns at the time were a dm4 and a RL intimidator so that was really just so i could use my ul's i already had i really loved my timmy but for whatever reason when it was go time at the tournament the ion always came out because it just worked for me probably the least maintained marker i owned where as the the timmy and the dm4 both had to be well maintained to run everyday

Yes planet is reliable but there is not much done just different milling features from hk and twister and project.

I have already had mine since release. I don't know quite how but it's like DLX made this marker exactly for me. It feels perfect in my hands, points incredibly well, shoots SO smooth but gives the tiniest amount of "kick" to remind you that you are actually firing something. But the kick for me is straight backwards. The balance and weight are perfect for me and after adding the AA tip instead of the stock tip...it now sounds amazing to me. I love my Idol and won't be parting with it for a LONG time. Ice shot the R5, was too smooth for me, the 3 DSR+ I shot were slightly less smooth, barely noticeable, but I despise that reverse deuce trigger. I like the CS3 but personally, I don't like the look or the electronics of such an expensive marker. For 1-2k price I expect more than what the CS3 offers. The Luxe, imo, looks more attractive to me than any other marker out there, and has everything I want and need from a marker I'm going to spend my hard earned money on. The Idol absolutely won my heart.
I believe at over 1200, your marker should enter highest end and provide something all other highest end provide or something only you or a few offer. The Luxe Idol now has an OLED screen, softer and most consistent shot, amazing ergonomics and is beautiful...then it talks to you as well. The M3+, though getting old, has its patented eye pipe, OLED screen again and is smooth as well. And remember dye has their patented UL barrel as well making almost all their markers sound just incredible. The Force 2 has their special aculock barrel system, is nicer priced and shoots quite smooth, likely helped by is slightly higher weight. Is has tried and true electronics and quite nice ergonomics. Now I come to the CS3, is has everything the other markers have, but nothing extra. I can't think of a single thing except I like the design of their eyes. However the fix to dirty tool less eyes is pretty universal. Have a spare set. I'd go for the R5 over the CS3 ATM. PE needs to release the CS4 and with something innovative for once. Reliability isn't enough anymore when every marker is reliable if you maintain them...in otherwords...clean them after each weekend and lube when necessary. Not rocket science.

I far prefer the Luxe and Shocker method of programming. The 170R and the 180R are the same, works great.
I don't need extra buttons or a stupid little joystick getting in the way every time I play for the handful of times i'll ever need to adjust programming. It's not the early 2000s anymore, we don't need to make a big deal over marker electronics.

the QOL changes to the idol are most def worth it. I love mine. those grips are a game changer, the idol feels so so so so sooooo good to hold. my only complaint besides the backstrap being a pita to take off (I used a small allen and push between the strap and the grip on the bottom and it pops out) Im sure the retention clip inside just needs to be worn in a bit and it will get easier, and that my marker came with a cut oring on the bolt out of the box so it leaked when I aired it up.

@PaintballRuinedMyLife I know "accuracy" is a very relative term in paintball and 95% comes down to having good paint. But i did see one video from a IDOL review where it was shooting absolute lazers. I mean it was shooting actual ropes, id never seen anything like it. And a buddy on my team said he thinks it shoots that way as well. Could you tell a big difference in that aspect? Again i know paint is the big reason if a marker shoots straight or not, but when i saw this video i almost thought it was tampered with lol. Just a genuine question on whether or not this thing is worth the hype.

I bought an idol...havent got it yet cuz i dont want a black gun. I bought it bc of my tm40. I have several high end pb guns bc im old and couldnt never afford them when i played back in the day. These include , m3+, dsr+, lv2, tm40, and force v1. I shoot the tm40 the most out all these bc i love the shot quality. What ive learned from owning all these markers is they are all so similar in shot...this includes lv2, that ergos are rhe only real difference. Oh and shooting egos, timmies, and karnis are way mire satisfying...

I find myself using the amp more than my idol because I don’t want to mess up my 2k gun. Performance is almost similar. I’m still D6 and prob be D5 next season so the amp still serves me well.
